RE: Performance Claims
OK HERE WE GO!: in the claim it says: With a powerful .18 Nitro Engine & 2 speed transmission the power is unstoppable and able to reach speeds in excess of 60 MPH+. that means THE ENGINE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DO THAT, ITS A TRICK SENTENCE, READ IT AGIAN>> THE ENGINE IS ABLE to. MODED alittle the car can go 60+ like say..hmm... add a high performance air filter and 25% nitro....... STOCK it goes 55mph.. MINE with ground and time measurements and my mods like a hp air filter, 30%, and more goes 65 mph. there you go.. also check the specs on the redcat tornado xp at the very bottem it says: Top Speed 90km/h (that = 55mph) good luck guys Stock estimte by himoto: LIGHTNING 50 mph TORNADO XL 50 mph TORNADO XP 55 mph VOLCANO 55 mph HURICANE XL 60 mph HURICANE XP 65 mph

RE: redcat, you shouldnt show that video on your webpage
i crashed my tornado alot, like end over end cartwheels, with out breaking it (just bending the frame), but i got lucky each time, now my Revo has never broken and it has be bashed to its limit and back, but no breakage....yet..because every rc will break sooner or later if its bashed hard!

RE: let me tell you how pissed i am
i agree it does sound like batterys, or Human Error! Like ehroof and Xeller8 said...it doesn't make ANY sense that the failsafe didn't work if the batteries in the car were good and the failsafe was hooked up properly. Who knows... I have a futaba 3pm-fm for my tornado xp and revo, and it has a voltage display, so when it drops to a point you need batteries, its pretty cool. Sorry man, that sucks about what happened! Good luck getting everything running!

RE: Tornado XP not shifting to 2nd gear
they are made plastic for a reason: The first reason would be a decrease in speed. A steel spur will weigh more than a plastic one. This translates to a higher rotating mass, which will take more effort from the motor to turn. This will result is a loss in torque and speed, and while it may not be dramatic it's something to consider. The second reason is much more important. The weakest link in the transmission will fail when it is overstressed. Although it can happen, it is very rare for a differential or transmission gear to fail first. This is due to physics and the properties of gears in motion. In reality, the plastic spur will strip first 95% of the time. It is much easier to replace a stripped spur than to take the transmission or differential apart and replace a gear. It's also possible that, without the plastic spur to give out first, the piston rod may become bent. Especially if the rest of the drivetrain is made up of metal gears. If you are having a problem with a large number of stripped spur gears, you need to examine how you are setting up your drivetrain. The first thing to check is your Pinion/Spur Gap. This is the most common cause for a stripped spur gear. Another thing to examine would the Slipper Clutch, as a nearly tightened slipper clutch can also result in a stripped spur gear. Also a little common sense helps as well. Don't land from a jump at full throttle as this can easily strip a spur gear. from (misbeahinrc .com)

RE: THE TRUE TOP SPEED OF REDCATS
yeah, i know what you mean... himoto was in a rc site last year and they said these speeds were "tested"... so who knows...?? USING 100 FEET MARKS AND A STOP WATCH MINE DID CLOCK IN AT APROX. 60 - 65 MPH (thats with 30% nitro, high performance air filter, no body, and warmed up.) i dont think anyone not even redcat knows exactly but i just gave the speeds himoto gives and they sound pretty reasonable....
