RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....
Hi. Aye, I still have both the S800 and the CRX, both are well. The S800 doesnt see much of the road, english weather and all that, besides the CRX is much more fun, especially on the rather nice suspension setup I got from your side of the pond. All the CEN stuff is really for sale, I do mean it this time. Honestly I do. Its a bit painful, but I wont miss it once its gone as I dont do any RC stuff any more. Bare in mind though that Im in the UK and postage will be very expensive to the States, especially for a full truck. As you say, there are "custom" parts on the .28 (actually a .30 now of course) but some of the parts are functional rather than pretty. Ill get some photos posted up for you. I have 2 full sets of wishbones for both the Rally and MT setup, an OS 1030 pipe, some 12-17mm hex adapters in plastic, some Imex Romulins with brick pins on, 1/8 buggy wheels with tyres, a selection of spurs and pinions of course, the slightly used Escudo shell cut to fit the Rally setup, stock shafts and a few other useful bits. The 28/30 chassis was simply put away after its last outing, it needs the rear shafts replacing (TMaxx mod shafts if I remember rightly, its all on here either way) and the centre shafts cup has fallen off the shaft by the brake, other than that I think its ready to go, high torque/high speed metal geared servos are in there I think, all CEN upgrades incl hardened diff gears, metal spurs etc etc, as per all the stuff done to it in this thread. Good to see some people are still around, hope all is well with you guys. EDIT - The forum wont accept photos at the moment for some reason, Ill try it again later or tomorrow.

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....
Evening folks, anyone still around? Im selling up all my CEN RC bits along with the mental .30 Funfactor. The centre diff rolling chassis is also going along with plenty of spares - OS18CVRX a few setc of wheels, gears, diffs, etc. Got to go through it all and see whats what. If theres anything in particular people would like from this or other large threads of my builds/messing about, give me a shout on here. The lot will be going on ebay soon. I mean it this time!

RE: cen ct4s (how can i make it go faster - Acceleration!!!)
Id go for a high revving (probably OS) .12 or the old favourite, the OS .18 cvrx I think it was, with lots of torque and reasonable revs. A .21 may well be a bit much for the belt drive and give you too many wear issues. I guess it depends on just how sympathetic you are with the throttle though. But personally, Id go for a decent .12, or wait for more opinions. Oh - a lightened flywheel should help the throttle pick up quicker, thereby helping you spin the wheels easier, just watch for any idleing issues. You seem to know what youre doing, so I could well be stating the obvious there though. ps - Hi to the gang. [:)]

RE: By request, ARO Funfactor Shock towers are back!!
Yep, these towers helped me get my FF to drive properly and fiddle with mods to my hearts content really. The material used is not just thicker, its a lot tougher than either the stock towers or the old "uprated" JT Racing items, which were far too brittle. The stock ones are just very soft. In that link that DrH posted, theres a good pic on post 175, bottom of page 7 of exactly what you get. Seriously - these are far from any mass produced cheap crap, theyre properly made, custom parts from an enthusiast. Bargain price for sure there Doc, ha, I wont hold it against you! Good to hear things are rolling again/still - Are you planning on anymore RC chassis parts? I expect there to be some holes in the market somewhere, ie, listening to what people want.......?

RE: .28 in a funfactor? oh dear....
Dustin - the S800 is looking for a clutch master cylinder again - dont trust the guy who supplied the last 2 at £400 each... last time I ran it up, it sounded like it was down on 2 cylinders - theyre famed for head gasket issues, so I shut the door on that for a bit Im afraid. CRX has priority at the mo. As for a transplant, theres a couple of S2000 lumps found their way into that not so little engine bay and trans tunnel in a couple of US cars, and a guy over here is in the process right now. Simpler than youd imagine to do, and a proper ladder chassis to bolt it to is hiding under there. Your MG sounds equally insane - best of luck with that. Bonkers mate. Best way. Give me a shout if you get stuck/over charged for bits over there. Tony - wow man, it all got a bit out of hand eh? So glad to see that. Im in with a few Honda clubs over in the UK, if theres any advertising or info I can help you with, give me a shout too. Its like a school reunion. But who are we missing?

RE: Old school CEN, modified. Value?
Looking like an ebay job over the weekend if anyone wants any bits from it all then. Photos will take me forever to sort out... Aye, the CRX is a pretty naughty little sleeper. Rolling road and some light remapping is now due, but its hitting 60mph in around 5 seconds and 100 doesnt take much longer. Its going to get me into trouble, Im sure. $1k of suspension is about to be ordered from your side of the pond too - got to take advantage of the pound vs the dollar eh? Still got the S800 too, the less said about that thing, the better. Ill bung an ebay link up once Im finally sorted on all the RC/Cen bits.

RE: Old school CEN, modified. Value?
Hey there man, hows you? The old familiar faces are still here I see! All good here ta. House is getting a full redecorate (wish I never opened that great can of worms) and the CRX has gone turbo and frightening. Plenty to eat away at the funds Im afraid. In the process of a clearout, the CEN is the last to go really. Might keep a 18 chassis and the Escudo shell on a shelf though. Ill see what my old stereo gear and other stuff fetches first. Helis? Sounds expensive man... I got one of those lil indoor fellas - thats pretty dangerous in my hands, nevermind a proper jobby!

RE: Old school CEN, modified. Value?
Im afraid that if thats the case, Ill have to strip it and sell it as parts: JT Chassis OS.30 OS Pipe 1/8th shocks ARO 4mm shock towers Heavy duty servos Temp meter Failsafe HD Diffs HD Steel spurs Mugen alloy clutch Alloy brake seat Alloy steering link Fully ball raced Selection of wheels and tyres Everything really... Makes sense to part it out then I guess, looking back at that list. Aye, it shifts alright. 2nd gear is a little bit frightening as I recall...

Old school CEN, modified. Value?
Right. Im finally clearing out the back bedroom, and Ebaying whatever I can find. Below is my naughty FunFactor from "back in the day". Plenty of info can be found on here regards to its history, if you search a bit for my username, FunFactor, that kind of thing. But whats it worth as a whole? I doubt it will be that much. But it seems a shame to break it for parts just to get the cash for it. Its a bit of a beast as it is. Any thoughts? [image]http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-8/802664/DSC02029small.JPG[/image] [image]http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-8/802664/DSC02621(Medium).JPG[/image] [image]http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-8/802664/DSC02654(Medium).JPG[/image] [image]http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-8/802664/DSC02656(Medium).JPG[/image] Theres a ton of spares, gear options, a centre-diffed FF chassis and OS.18 too, but that lot is maybe best broken to get more cash basically. Loads of wheels and tyres too. When ebay time comes, Ill post a link if Im allowed and if its of any interest. Im in the UK, just so you know.

Late reply... apols. All good here mate. Women, beer and still fixing up the house are keeping me busy. Working 7 days too, which doesnt really leave a lot of time for anything else. I keep threatening to sell it all, but, well, theres a good few quid invested in it all, I just havent needed to sell it as of yet, so its all stayed - mainly for the same reasons as yourself. Wildhobbies eh...? Long old projects, late nights, mad/dumb ideas... nah, I cant let it go just yet.

RE: I need help
A .28? Are you having a change of heart in your madness levels mate? Would have thought a mental revving .21 (OS of course) would be better all round? Especially with the "Acceleration" or "Racing pack" whatever Cen call it. Hows it going Rolland? Still havent stuck my lot up for sale, dont really have the heart lol.

RE: Does The CEN Magnum NX go backwards?
Hello mate, aye, Im still stupid. [:D] Mine still needs selling. Just havent got around to it. Theres that much of it, I cant be doing with the hassle though. Was going to chuck the .18 in the best chassis i have got, take the rest back to stock and sell the fancy, shiny, overpriced bits seperately. A mate was after the .30 for his savage - best place for it, it bloody well ate my Cen from the inside out... Im out of the RC really, might get a lil electric super 8, or whatever they are called, for messing with at work. Need cash and time for the 1:1s. Going for a turbo conversion on the CRX, maybe an LSD too if I can stretch to it, and just getting the S800 on the road would be a start for that... both aint cheap... at all.

RE: CEN CT5 Parts Question ..
The Genesis/Nemesis steel spurs - 39t and 43t - will fit onto the CT5s 2 speed alloy hubs. You will need the single piece, steel pinion/clutch bell in 14/18t, the silver one. The weight of the spurs may well give a stock clutch some issues too, try alloy shoes if so, but on a new clutchbell. It worked on my OS.18 FunFactor with alloy shoes, I never had spur issues after that, but pinions wore a bit quicker.

RE: New Hardened Steel Clutch Bell Pinion Gears - CEN Gen, Nem, GST
[quote]PJ not trying to wind you up, but as for this problem, it is real![/quote] No worries, was just hoping that some of the later pinions might sort you guys out. In the meantime, with your worn ones, would it be worth trying quenching them to harden them up - you only need a blowtorch and a little water or oil. Just a thought, Ive been through right pinion issues myself, I know how frustrating it is. Or maybe source some other pinions to try, some Ofna stuff came out pretty high on the hardness tests I did. Results are in the link a few posts up. Coffee really helps when looking for something with the right thread though... Im not looking to bash CEN either, it just appears we are in another "CEN Reply Drought". They must be busy with something or off racing etc. Ive got a stack of hardened pinions from allsorts of cars here, and hardness testing gear at work - I might be able to save you some searching if you can give me the thread sizes for the Gen pinions?

RE: New Hardened Steel Clutch Bell Pinion Gears - CEN Gen, Nem, GST
In fairness to CEN, I heard that it was just the earlier versions that had the softer pinions, later models having hardened ones. If it was still a problem within a couple of tanks, Im sure a lot more people would be screaming out.

Theres an Italian guy on Ebay already producing these, has been doing for a while now. I think his username is/was toto. Maybe worth a look to see if he is still about? I contacted him re some steel pinions for the FF, but there wasnt enough interest back then... bet a few people would have them now.

RE: Clutch Shoes, What's the proper tension?
You want to be turning it anti clockwise, ie loosening the screw. I think the manual says try it in 1/8 turn increments. Personally, I go for about 1/2 a turn, til I have it shifting reliably, and refine the shift point from there - this is due to it being a bit of a pain to adjust.

RE: Schumacher or CEN or Mugen?!?!?!
As you probably know, top speed is only really down to engine revs and the gearing of the car. I believe Cens CT4 or CT5 are geared to do 74mph out of the box. I remember something about them including lower ratio pulleys as well on the CT5 for when you get bored of high speed passes and want good launches. It sounds like the Mugen car is geared lower out of the box, therefore not as much top speed. Bet it leaves the stock Cen for dead on acceleration though, and surely there are different gearing options for the Mugen too? Check the prices of parts, availability and durability etc between the two. The only real problems Ive heard of with the Cen was the pulleys sometimes coming loose and loosing the teeth on the pulleys. An extra tensioner sorts it, iirc. Id expect a lot of people to tell you to go with the Mugen, but if its just for a laugh, Id save the extra cash and go for the Cen if you can get parts easily.

RE: Clutch Shoes, What's the proper tension?
A dead give away for pulling away in 2nd is wear on the 2nd gear pinion and spur. They wear much more when under load. If youre not hearing it hit 2nd either, then its pretty certain youre stuck in 2nd already. Ive had a lot of this by messing about with various engines and different size and weight wheels. Good luck man, it can be a right pain in the buttocks.

RE: Clutch Shoes, What's the proper tension?
And be sure to put that clutch in the right way round. [;)] Weve all done it... Just remembered - I had a "sticky" clutch that would only let the arm out so far unless I backed the screw right off, and then it would just hit 2nd right from a standstill. I filed it smooth on the edges of the arm and cleaned it all up and it was fine. Dint notice anything on it before I cleaned it up either... still, worth a shot, I know how frustrating it can be.

RE: CEN, do you have Steel Pinion Gears for FunFactor
Hows the mesh? You have a 3 tooth difference in the spurs and a 4 tooth difference on the pinions... I know some are a bit sloppy anyway, just didnt expect this combo to work. Also, does it shift into 2nd or have you changed the 2nd gear clutch spring or your wheels/tyres?
