only takes a few hours to build a kit (unless it's a baja) if you dont have time to build it, you wont have time to fix it or do maintenance

RE: looking for a new 4x4 slash tamiya or?
The rustler handles better than a slash, it has a much lower COG, putting a rustler chassis on a slash with a conversion seriously improves it's handling, take your own advice topdogg11
ORIGINAL: 860Crawler nice vid! How do you like the new rubber?
thanks , they are ok, they are more for hard clay type surfaces, seemed lacking in side grip in the dust. Certainly better than the hard ones that came with the kit though. Think I'll have to set it up better, at the moment my 2wd is faster around the track

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
ORIGINAL: glancyguy Thanks for the advice. Thanks also for your patience if this is a rudimentary question as this is the first time I have serviced a ball diff since I was 13 and had my first RC10 in the 80's. :) The thrust bearing looks intact and I examined all bearings. Nothing was binding. I put the gear box back together and locked the diff. I then locked the outdrives with allen wrenches. I was not able to rotate the spur gear. I then repeated the same exercise after I loosened the diffs 1 full turn. I was able to easily rotate the spur with the diff outdrives locked. It seemed too easy. This leads me to believe that there is some kind of wear in the diff gear. I am sorry to be persistent, but the frustrating part in all of this is that I don't know what a worn diff looks like and how well the diff balls *should* seat in the diff gear. I'd like to be crystal clear before I have to order the parts from Hong Kong, wait 2 weeks, and find out that the new diff gear did not solve the problem.
at least you dont have to build the thrust bearing like the rc10, you should set the tension of the diff while its outside of the vehicle, maybe I was being unclear but it shows how to do it in the manual, . I finally got some decent tyres for mine today, and mounted them on my white rims, only got 10 mins out of it before the battery was flat, my lipo charger is broken :( managed to make a short video though

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
take the spur cover off, hold the buggy and give it some throttle see if the spur is spinning,if the spurs spinning, its the diff. pull the diff out, jam something in each outdrive cup like it shows in the manual, the diff gear should be tight enough so you have to put a fair bit of force on it with your fingers to rotate it. check the thrust bearing is healthy also

RE: Old school RC10 what do i have
The black alloy is definitely a 1993 Team Truck part no 7035, the gold tub that still has the original shock towers is an original rc10 1984-1988 or so and has been upgraded to the later wider front arms and the slipper clutch wouldn't be original. The other original rc10 gold pan has had a retrofit stealth conversion and also has been setup for flat indoor racing I'd say. The graphite car is a bit weird, seems to be either a graphite team car with a older motor plate thats been cut off a gold tub or the original graphite car thats been converted to stealth box and team car shocks. For sure the most original of all those cars are the gold tube 6 gear and the Team Truck, the rear arms on the truck are not original but otherwise it looks factory. The team truck is the rarest one there.

RE: Any updates on the HPI Bullet Flux?
ORIGINAL: sybok4 Please allow me to apologize for not being aware the bullet flux will have a rebadged EZrun bl system in it. I rarely have a chance or the time review the data that is posted in these forums as I work for a living. I do understand that the EZ run systems work and are fast with very reasonable prices. However their efficiency is marginal at best. When using the best connectors for minimal resistace and spending for good lipos with high voltage and 'C' ratings to increase performance, I have absolutely no idea why anyone would want to run a system that produces additional heat because of it's inefficiency. My brushless systems are based on my batteries increasing torque and speed.. not a more heat. The EZ runs are a step beckward. Obviously they are being used by HPI to achieve a certain price point. You are going to hear more and more complaints about the EZ run systems and the Bullet Flux producing excess heat. Hopefuly HPI will offer a roller. You can shake your at the above. Thank you.
Mine runs quite cool, not sure where you getting this excess heat claim from. the bullet is not a race vehicle, it's for bashing. So no need to waste your money on the worlds best lipo

I have one of those 35a 9T's in my dark impact, it's worked flawlessly (I have a sidewinder also) does seem like an odd choice for this truck though.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
no doubt the thrust bearing is same size as another vehicle, just have to figure out what. Be nice if they were same size as the 501x or something I read through this whole thread once, plenty of people burned out diffs, wether they were running 3s or just poorly adjusted who knows, I have ceramic balls front and back, and never had an issue with it. Nick those cv's are giving you enough trouble for me to be happy I only have dogbones.

yes thats the rear diff on the lower left. Probably a good time to pick up some ceramic or carbide balls for it too. hows the front diff? Nick. that fits pretty well, my new pack the cover wont even go on, still deciding what to do at the moment, had a bit of a look at the toyz extended chassis. Getting a new charger this week though, So get to find out if my charger was playing up or it's my lipo's
