RE: Anyone tried an oval outlet pipe?
No, its not stock, its just an experiment which was done to minimize losses with a RAM 500. -Instead of the bifurcated pipe, I made a single wall oval exit pipe. now with the rabbit power is plenty , but I left the single pipe as it works well. I made a plywood former (as in your drawing) to fit the pipe oval exit, no need for a strut.. the plane is in storage now, but can get some pics for you later if needed.

RE: Anyone tried an oval outlet pipe?
Matt, I have been flying an Avonds rafale with a rabbit , along with an oval single exit pipe. No problems after 2 years and lots of flights.

RE: Jetcat throttle curve setting
The thing is, the default setting in the ECU is 3, which is not my preference. upto 60 % stick hardly has thrust and then it comes in too strong, it is too hard to find the sweet spot for cruising. I use expo in my transmitter and its still too steep. My point is; before this option was available , it was fine on my transmitter expo, now it is not.

RE: Jetcat throttle curve setting
Correct, seems to make sense, I did not have this info in my manual, but what I'm looking for is to cruise at midstick with sufficient power to maintain energy, looks like 5 is for me.

correct from 0.1 to 5.0 I feel on 3 there is hardly any power on midstick... I'll see what it does on 5 then . thanks

Jetcat throttle curve setting
On the newer ECU there is an option to set the Throttle stick curve. Mine was set on 3, but I'm not sure what it does and which way is more or less exponential, anybody know ? thanks
ORIGINAL: FenderBean The spring can be easily replaced, the strut with the spring is two parts. just unscrew the end and the spring pops out. I took mine apart and cleaned/greased it I can post a pic later today. If that gear ever wears out on you get the new style which has air instead of a srping, its a much better deisgn as well. Mine is at Down and Locked getting my electric motors moved from my old to the new.
How many flights on it before you replaced this (old) gear ? thanks

RE: One Pound residual thrust too high for an 18 pound Tams 1/8th F-16?
Smitty, for what its worth, When I changed my 120 (1 lbs r/t) into an 80 (.8 r/t) in my 104 it was easier to land. (no weight difference) The same plane felt easier slowing down.... The Rabbit having only 0.8 residual is one of the reasons I own one now. I feel there is a significant difference betweem .8 and 1 lbs.

Sure the induced drag is a big help. you are right...but I still think its easier with less residual thrust. my 2c[;)]

Yes, the difference between 0.5 or 1.0 R/T is very noticable on landing... you we're advised correctly.

RE: Fly Eagle F-14 Build
Matt, that was why I asked about geometry, with the equal lenght (from centre) I needed 40 % ATV on elevons (on an F-16) I changed the link to as close to center servo as possible, now I'm on 70/80 %

RE: Fly Eagle F-14 Build
Thanks, I see what you mean. Now , with your F-16, if you would move the connectors on the servo horn in one notch both sides, that should not be a problem right ? Because its still similar throws on both sides...

RE: Fly Eagle F-14 Build
Its the same as on the picture. 1 servo per stab, supported on both sides. instead of being parralel the push rods go closer toward the center on the sevo horn on both sides. So instead of being a square, it has a shorter leg on the servo side.... does that cause problems with geometry ?

RE: Fly Eagle F-14 Build
ORIGINAL: FenderBean hey ion, only one bushing goes inside the other acts as a spacer that sits on the inner race. If they are like my F-16 which im 98% sure they are then this picture is how the should be the one that goes inside is on the outside closest to bolt head and the spacer one is on the inside next to the control horn. Hope this helps
Sorry to ask in the Tomcat build, but it came up here I have the same setup as in the picture, but decided to go in one notch on the servo arm.(both sides off course) This should make the servo stronger, but does this effect the geometry ?

Need a P120 combustion chamber
Hi guys, I have a very old P-120 (2001)that I've had since new and always ran well. It started acting up a bit and after my inspection - I dont want to send it in anymore-it seems in good shape except for the combustion chamber, this one's busted. I've build and ran KJ-66 succesfully so I just want to replace the part. Can anybody help me get a new or used combustion chamber in good shape ? Email me at powerjets@hotmail.com Thanks
