RE: Looking for a Rear Wheel Drive OnRoad Car
ORIGINAL: -JBLKING- How many coats did you do? And for bodies?
On the bodies I usually do 3-4 coats. But that's after I apply a first light mist coat on the body ( this helps eliminates the paint running). Once I apply the mist coat I use a hair dryer to dry it for a a couple of minutes, then I apply the 3-4 light to medium coats using the hair dryer in between coats to dry the paint. Just painting alone takes about 1 hour. Then I let it sit for a couple of hours before removing any masks etc. then I let the body sit for a couple of days before handling or driving so the paint can harden properly! For the dashboard and interior I just primed and applied a couple of coats.

Hey thanks LB! Never really thought of putting a spare tire on the back! But hat should look pretty good....It will probably make the back more complete! ha! Will have to look around for a tire and wheel... the ones currently on the truck are too big and definitely too heavy i think!

The stock steering is a bit sloppy, so you gonna need the steering upgrade kit.

RE: Going Slow is The Way To Go - Tamiya CR-01 Resource Thread!
I think it will great with the tint! But maybe you should decide after you put in the window decals etc? See how it looks that way and then decide on the tint? Who knows...you may decide you want an interior for it! Ha! And a custom roof rack! But seriously, it looks awesome as it is...!

RE: Post your Rally Car Idea here!
Also picked this up for this winter's project! Kyosho Lancia Delta Intergrale 16V ! Its been partially built but new! Nitro version but i will be converting it to electric...however, not sure how long it will last on brushless /lipos so may be going with a brushed system (parts are pretty scarece as this is a '90s classic). The wheelbase is 280mm, 240mm wide at the arches and the body is 210mm wide! Didn't come with decals and they are pretty expensive, so considering a street version color scheme for this beast!

RE: Post your Rally Car Idea here!
Here's my contribution.HPI Super Nitro Rallys Converted to Brushless..VXL3s system running on 3s lipos... pictures are a bit old..but still have the subie...did a few mods to it since..(will try to get some pics tonight)..basically ditched the tuppaware which eventually got cracked (15 foot roll trying to turn at WOT! ) installed a traxxas waterproof receiver box as well as converted a stampede battery box thingy to mount my lipo. Also used some styrene to fab up a protective box over the Spur gear and pinion to keep out dirt and debris...! Last 2 pics shows the Super Rally next to a Tamiya TB01 for comparison!

RE: Going Slow is The Way To Go - Tamiya CR-01 Resource Thread!
Hey Guys, This is how I mounted the rack..[:)]. First pic is some plugs i made for the post holes..stuck it to the inside with the posts protruding and then lopped off the excess.. Then encased the magnets in styrene and glued it on to the rack. then got the rack oriented on the roof then attached the magnets on the inside![8|] Not sure if i will get a chance to paint before the weekend though![&o] figured i'd leave the other holes for running wiring to the roof lights![:D]

RE: Going Slow is The Way To Go - Tamiya CR-01 Resource Thread!
Ha..! Yeah...[:)] maybe I should take a couple of orders ehh? Lol! Styrene work is not as hard as it looks! And the more you do stuff with it the more you learn to do it better..[8|] the previous rack was my first attempt at building something out of styrene [&:] was on a major learning curve then...and still learning as i go along! You just need a lot of time and patience and learn to think 3 dimensionally..basically you need to break down the item you want to build into smaller parts / shapes and then glue them together...be willing to do lots of filing and sanding initially...
