ORIGINAL: UStik Look [link=http://richard.ferriere.free.fr/3vues/D-3vues.html]here[/link] for 3-views of various Moth types (DeHavilland DH-...), including the original (DH-60) and two Tigers (DH-71 and DH-82).
This thread has been an education to me and encouraged me to look for a Cirrus Moth and among the results found this. http://www.dbsportandscale.com/cirrus-moth-quarter.htm Note difference in cowl for smaller cirrus engine. Thanks for all the info guys, would almost make a scale modeller out of a chap. john

RE: Quick and Dirty Product Engine Throttle
Hi Andy, Was flying the Cox Medallion with combined throttle ring muffler in my Blink yesterday. it certainly idled low enough for a greaser landing. Flew the Blink around on half throttle and is was plenty fast. Got the Medallion, new old stock from Bastiaan of Cox Eu and I think he may have a couple left. John

RE: Cox .049 Reeds.
Would use Teflon or Mylar, Stainless can wear anodising of reed housing, or so the experts tell me. The Cox reedies are high maintenance, I much prefer the TD's all of mine 0.010, 0.020, and 0.049 are a joy to use and never let me down at the field. Fettling is fun though, so enjoy. John

RE: I love velcro, I hate velcro
Mr Cox, nice little plane and a first class covering job. Where do you guys get these nice little silencers for your cox engines. I can only find these pressed tin plate jobs. Back on topic I have used industrial strength stuff to attach undercarriage to my float plane for flying at the field and need a kitchen knife to separate it when I take the plane to the pond. I also use ca to attach the velcro, particularly on ic planes.. john

Thanks excellent idea, can't think why it never occurred to me all these years. The flight time is timed but not the engine run. John

light weight engine timers
I have an old Tatone " Tick Off" engine timer but it weighs as much as some of the models I build. Does anyone know of a very lightweight timer.

RE: TiteBond
ORIGINAL: Lnewqban
ORIGINAL: TotalWreck Technique for installing this power 32 outrunner? Some one told me I could use 4 long bolts, with long spacer in between two washers?
No, not long bolts there. Just a plywood firewall between both cheeks, and having the existing engine mount as a central reinforcement.
Nice solution, I like it. Now to say the unthinkable, I have stopped using epoxy for firewall and engine bearers. I use a good quality water proof PVA and find that used on clean hardwood the wood breaks before the glue joint. So why use epoxy? Never use for laminating fuselage doublers etc. PVA is air curing and your lamination may never cure. I use epoxy for this. John

RE: what is this 0,061 glow
Hi, Think you may have it right, certainly says made in Japan on it, the only logo is on the back plate. The letter M with an arrow above it. Too small to see on my rather poor photos. Is this the logo on yours? Will try and post another two photos. The part I can't figure is the copper strip running round the back of the cylinder and going into cylinder block. What is it for?

RE: Fuel Pickup Tube Question
I think the only certain way is to make up 3/32 aluminium tube for your fuel pickup and join to backplate nozzle with your small bore. Any other way I have done it it's a bit of a guess that pickup goes where you want it when assembling. John

RE: radio problem for newbie
I don't use Futaba, but suggest the following, Bind again, remove bind plug, switch off receiver, then be sure to turn off transmitter. Switch on transmitter, then switch on receiver. The thing to make sure is to turn off transmitter after binding, this is essential with Spectrum not sure about Futaba. Note the plugs and sockets on your gear is so designed that if you plug in the wrong way, ie not pos to pos, neg to neg and signal to signal as it should be, you won't damage anything but of course it won't work. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be at first. john

I know what you are saying about bushed conrods is what we always thought but the new small Saito petrol engines or gassers if you prefer use bushed conrods. Could the need for roller bearings on gasser corods be another myth. john Sorry guys this response has appeared on wrong part of thread

RE: Throttle Sleeve, ACE OR COX Setup??
From the very nice clear sketch of your set up it would appear that if you removed circlip and reinstalled other side up you would most likely avoid jamming at attachment point. john PS you guys call them snap rings not circlips
