RE: What Cloth And Resin Used For A Home Made Smoke Tank?
It should only take a couple of hours and I could come down and help you. I would not use West System epoxy ( personal preferance) but I will bring what I use. Let me know

RE: KINGTECH X JETCAT X JETCENTRAL X WREN
Barry, I didn't say the warrantee was useless I just said it was useless in the service that was performed. The K80 in question was purchased and serviced at DreamWorks. I know for a fact that the turbine was never crashed but was always down on power, That was the reason for the service check up. We never had a failed start due to the starter, but since the service was performed the starter sticks all the time requiring us to tap the side of the starter to get it to rotate. The turbine now has the power it should have had since day one. This is the second service that DreamWorks has done on the turbine, The first was just a new fuel pump and software update done in the first year.

RE: KINGTECH X JETCAT X JETCENTRAL X WREN
What Meesh said. But look at the lifetime warrantee closely and you will see it is not what all of you think it is. I just had a friend send his K80 in for a check-up. It was 3 years old and had only 8 hours on it. It needed new bearings and a starter, 400 dollars later the lifetime warrantee was usless. I will hole off purchasing a K140 till Brian has 25 hours and it goes thru its first service.

RE: Hamburg Jet Jam roll call
I will be there for the first time and hope to see all the guys from New England. Larry I have molding fiberglass models for 20 years and there are many things that have an effect in the stiffness of the lay-up. The first one is epoxy choice the second is cloth orientation, and cloth weight. You say you use 2 layers of 6 oz cloth with a total weight of 12 oz. You would be better using 1 layer of 4oz fallowed by a layer of 10oz. this would give you a stiffer lay-up. You would also need to add carbon fiber in some places to add strength and stiffness. The last thing is you need to use a high end epoxy like Pro-set or MGS and post cure the lay-up. Do not use epoxy like west system or system three because the TG is way to low for our needs and post cure won't change it.

RE: Good sport jet for a fair price ?
Having only a Toyota Corolla you are limited to what you can fit. Don't forget there is a lot of support equipment required with Jets. You should be looking for a twin boom airplane, like the Bobcat or Boomerang. Both brake down to small packages.

Gerhard has been a great asset to the Weatronic community here in the USA and I hope that the new company renews it ties with him. I think Gerhard is frustrated with them and I share his pain and I also hope he continues to support this forum because his knowledge is priceless. Has anyone been able to contact Gerhard lately ?

RE: BOOMERANG ELAN - New Build & Setup Thread!
Bob, when I built Eric's elan (the one you have) i had the ECU battery under the tank and 2 lipo 2300 ma up front. This worked well as there was very little down elevator needed for inverted flight. If you are going to use A123's you will need to move them aft. If you need any questions answered just call me and I will walk you thru the ballancing.

RE: Futaba 14mz or spektrum dx18
Just from a quality/manufacturing stand point I would not buy a Spectrum. I do not clam to know much about the Spectrum 18 but I have fixed many Spectrum radios including some of the computer radios and every time I open one up it scares me. I am new to the 14MZ and so far it seems to work great. I am a JR guy for the last 20 years and the JR quality is second to none and now that JR has its own 2.4 (not a spectrum design) I may be revisiting JR very soon. I do not use the DSM2/X or the FASST system, I use the Weatronic system. The DSM and FASST systems have their good points and bad but they both seem to be very reliable and would use them on anything but my Jets. The Spectrum system offers more options with their recievers, and the satellite system is a great idea which offers a lot of flexibility during radio installation and many power management options. I hope Futaba starts to offer more options in there receiver line soon with power management options.

RE: airtronics stylus on 2.4
we have a couple of the RSD8000 at the field and we have never had any problems. If you need to convince yourself do what I do. When I get a new radio I put it in a plane ( I use only for radio testing) and fly it for a couple of weekends, usally @ 20 flights. I do this even when I get a radio back from service or convert it . I just picked up a 14MZ and converted it to 2.4 ( weatronic) and even though I have used the Weatronic setup on a different radio I still did my 20 flight testing.

you can not run a brushless motor directly from a battery. The speed control times when the magnets of the motor come on and turn off to rotate.

Eric, the 2290 USD gets you the airframe only. But it is complete ready for systems to be installed. You do not have to build it like the BVM stuff.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
I have some good news and some bad. I just received my 14MZ from Futaba service this morning with the region code changed from USA to Europe, It works perfect with the Weatronic FASST adaptor. The system comes up in 2.4ghz mode and there is no servo chatter and there is no offset in the pulse . Now for the bad…… You are going to have a hard time getting Futaba to change the region code. There policy is not to change it at all. You will need to call Futaba service and talk to a manager and explain why you want to change the region code. I told them I will be using the Weatronic system and it only will work with the Europe region code. The settings for the Weatronic TX module is 12ppm(1.5) or auto. I flew my plane 6 times today and it was rock solid. Only complant was I could only get 2 flights per battery
