RE: Great Planes Giant Ugly Stick
Hoghead385, I got my engine at Valleyview RC, I highly recommend them, great service all around from start too finish, they have the DLE-35RA in stock now. http://www.valleyviewrc.com/estore/dle-35ra-gas-engine.html I also got a DLE Single Bolt Prop Adapter (DLE-30), what can I say other than I'm lazy and don't want to drill 4 holes in my propeller[:)] http://www.valleyviewrc.com/estore/dle-single-bolt-prop-adapter-dle-30.html Cheers: Rich

RE: Great Planes Giant Ugly Stick
Hi Hoghead385, I have my Giant Stik sitting in the box, with a DLE-35RA engine, a spektrum AR 7000 RX and Power HD-120MG servo's.The servo's cost $15.99 each or 5 for $69.99,I didn't want to send a lot of money on servo's and they have more power than HS5645's.Good luck with your build! RE: Phoenix Edge 540 1.20
Muddin Mavric Hi I'm working on my GP 70" Revoler now and when I finish it, I will start on my Edge, May I suggest you look at that build thread in the ARF forum [page 151 on], there is a lot of good information with pictures on setting up the Dle 20cc.photo below is from wjcelhoun's post 3766. he used fiber glass to re-inforce the firewall,throttle/choke set-up is clean. On my Revolver I pinned the firewall with steel rods .089"dia x .500"L and epoxy them into place around the front firewall and will do the same on my Edge. I will be installing a Evo 26GT so I may need to add adition support on the firewall of the Edge,.Sorry I couldn't help anymore than this, keep us posted on how you's turns out.. Cheers: Rich

Cpt Crash Outstanding! I'm gald to hear she's a keeper[:D] I'm almost finished with my Cap 232 and than I'll start on mine.Say just a suggestion on slowing your Edge down, have you set-up a flaperon mix on your Hitec Aurora? The aileron on this plane large 3" at fuselage and the elevators are 4.25" at mid point. "AeroPerfect" has a surface deflection utility" could be helpful in setting up your flaperon mix in degrees here a link, just remember to keep all measurment in Inches or milimeter's http://nsrca.us/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=106:surface-deflection-utility&catid=58:building&Itemid=95 I don't own a Hitec transmitter so I can't help you on setting-up your flaperon mix,I use a Spectrum DX7 with daul ailerons. I found a link that could help. Cheers: Rich http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9248754/anchors_9249707/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#9249707

RE: Phoenix Edge 540 1.20
Chris, Thanks, I'll go with the 6.6 volt, A123's but for K.I.S.S. I'm going to use the NiMH 1500ma sub-C battery pack for ignition power it's small and reliable. Which throttle servo are you using? Looking to save some weight I'm using carbon fiber control rods, my rod end are stainless steel from "connectors RC" now known as " Texas Hobbies" anyway here's a link if your interested, they are CNC machine and well made at an affortable price. http://www.texas-hobbies.com/?page_id=484 The Carbon Fiber rods 3/16 od you can buy at your local kite store, there's no kite store around here so I got my rods online from Good winds LLC out of Mount Vernon , WA I use Pultruded Carbon Tubing http://www.goodwinds.com/merch/list.shtml?cat=carbonproduct # 020019 PCT.188x48 6 ea @ $5.79 I probably have enough carbon fiber rods for 7 or 8 planes. BTW the Mfg of the rodend recommends J&B weld when bonding connector to carbon fiber rod,I use Marine-Tex super strong and never gets brittal with age like J&B weld.A 2oz repair kit of Marine-Tex is about 12.00 at West Marine and the stuff last forever. later Cheers: Rich

Chris, Ok, cool with your permission I'll contribute to the thread.[8D] I fly mostly sport acrobatics a few knife edges, some spins and loops a hammerhead once in a while. RE: Phoenix Edge 540 1.20
LOL know the area well, live for a short time in Dunellen nj in the early 90's left the state and move south,NC and FL by 1995 I was back in NJ....It's like the MOB once you're in you can never leave... .You're spot on about the hardware looks ok,I would bet the screw heads are going to be soft and strip easily, but we'll see. I was a little nervous about the use of hot glue on the engine firewall blind nuts ,but didn't find any more where else where hot glue was used, which made me feel better . As for the firewall,I'm going to do the same thing and than "pin the firewall with small finishing nails.I'm going to use my DLE-20 or a Zenoah G-20 engine.I know the Zenoah is heavy but I really like the engine and the 540 cowl will certainly accommodate the engine nicely.
