This is from my last race a few years ago, sorry for the low res pics. Before the race nice and clean: [image]http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g14/pythonfan/DCFC0029-1.jpg[/image] After the race it had 3 striped body holes, engine was torn off and i lost the rear taillight section as its a two piece part only taped together. [image]http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g14/pythonfan/DCFC0057-2.jpg[/image] Though it does seem to provide good money shots :) [image]http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g14/pythonfan/itsahemi.jpg[/image] To get back on topic, when i first got my savage i went with the ss because i wanted to be able to build it and learn as much as i could about it. I'm not sure if today's ss's come with all the upgrade the kit use to but, the kit allows you to learn how to repair and maintain your truck and give you some pre-bash enjoyment because at the end you can look back and say i built that.

RE: any idea when the new gas savage xl is released.
Crazy thought, they said the engines will be released in march. They didn't say the trucks/cars would be, for all we know that was simply the date the engine company gave them to when hpi will be getting full manufacturing on these engines and can start assembly testing them. I don't see it being march 2013, i see it more end of the year just in time for Christmas when everyone has a little extra money to burn.

RE: Let's hear what you have for the 1:1 real car??
Already had it checked out, the vins are impala ss and the title says its a caprice but the car is a caprice ss. Because of the ss package it comes up as a impala ss, tho the make of the care is a caprice, but when looking for parts i look for the caprice as it has small differences as options and other small things, but for information on how to undo the dash i look up impala because its so well known and its the same car. As i said above if you dig through the bs on the impala forums you find the truth on the whole mixup and names and etx of the caprice but in general it was the more daily driver i guess over the sport version ie the impala ss? The impala had the floor shifter and a few other rough edges and less options over what the caprice has/had. Pull the body off the car its an impala through and through but get into the nitty gritty then the caprice characteristics pop up. Anyways, did the first / new car routine ie checked the brakes, rotated the tires, changed the oil/oil filter, air filter, fuel injector cleaner, wipers, brake fluid, added conditioner to the transmission and spit shined it. The most I've down else wise is I've installed a new radio, fixed one of the windows and got rid of the nasty steering wheel cover. The one it had one felt so strange, going to look for another wheel or something a bit more solid then what was on there before. The only thing's ive had to order have been the driver side mirror and windshield washer cap (before we found out the reservoir is leaking around the motor causing it to have really bad suction so that's getting replaced. Other then the above this car is in great shape for its age / mileage, how it does on gas and handling / all electronics work and what not. EDIT: I figured i would mention the car as is has 212k on the clock, but the motor and tranny are in really good condition and with the body being in such good shape this car you can tell wasn't abused nor beat on. It still has a long life ahead of it, one that I'm sure to enjoy.

RE: Let's hear what you have for the 1:1 real car??
ORIGINAL: retransit I'm curious. What is the 8th digit in your VIN? The Caprice and Impala bodies are the same. The difference is the trim, upholstery, grille, suspension, paint and interior. I'd like to know why someone would change an Impala SS to a Caprice? That would reduce its value and since the Caprice also offered a 5.7 LT-1, it wouldn't fool anyone in the horspower department. Bob
If you feel like digging thru the impalass forums and what not you can get a understanding of what i got. The first 8 Of my vin are 1g1bl52p, if you google the vin a impalass thread pops up with a lot of bs but some solid information from a few guys.

RE: Looking For Nice Computer Towers
All depends on what you plan to put in it, use it for, and really what you like. When i built my desktop i wanted something that would fit most custom water cooling systems and had a rugged look so i went with the old HAF 932 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160 Mind you was on sale at the time i got it, also it comes in blue now... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119213 . Though many people argue over it about its airflow, size, weight, mobility etx, for me its not gonna be moved and i like the roughness to it. If i could justify the price tag, then i would defiantly look at these two cases, there the same but you get white or black. I like these cases for a few reasons, 1. there very clean and sleek looking, 2. The performance of how everything is laid out, wire management, 3. the upward mounting of the gfx cards/misc. With the cards being mount vertical it allows to suck in the cool air from the bottom and exhaust out the top, and the fact that the cards are vertical the head from said gfx cards won't effect the cpu as much as if they where horizontal. White http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163183 Black http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163161 In the end its what you like, budget and what your going to be doing with it. If you looking for just office work, then really you can build a pc that uses as much power as a light bulb for cheap, if you plan on gaming, home entertainment then you want something with a little more beef.

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
Hmmmm i hope they do kits for a few of those, the xl looks killer but they still don't seem to have a pipe design for the buggy and other smaller cars. The most looks like there using a box type exhaust but it could be the battery box. Here's a few of the pics, on the buggy you can barley see the box shaped exhaust. On the sct looking truck you can see it more clearly, but still not a 100%. I think its the pipe because its far to big to be an electronic box and is made from the same thing the pipe on the savage is. And here is just the snapshot of the 8cc... I know i have been wanting a 1/5th scale savage since the baja came out and so have many other people, i feel like hpi went half butt on this one. It is better then the first attempt with nitro and the savage front/rear ends but come on i thought they could do better then this. Still interesting in the xl at least, looks more at home.

Looks like it shares the same xl arms, wheel extenders, shocks, and I'm sure various other parts.
ORIGINAL: HerrSavage Nitro is not hard to tune!!! Stop basing those comments on experience with crappy Traxxas engines...
I agree on this to a degree, nitro is not hard to tune but it depends on the motor and skill lvl. If someone new to the hobby goes and buys a picco, or a sts then its gonna have a learning curve. Someone goes and buys a sh, trx and lrp there more noob friendly and is a good starter motor. I won't say all trx engines are trash but a lot of them have there issues but its still a decent learning platform. I had a sh mill that would not tune for anything, come to find out it had a hair line crack in the crankcase something that the beginner would not of seen.

Well looks like I'll be joining the xs club soon seeing as its now in kit form and i can use my own esc/motor combo with my own radio. I wonder what the price tag will be on this, i would assume much cheaper then the rtr but 200-300 range maybe? (Why i say 2-300 is i got my nitro x ss for 319, i know this was years ago but i can't see this being kit more or less the same of its rtr brother.)

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
Something I'm wondering about is the power on these little guys, by default on the nitros the rpm's is what makes these cars go. I don't know if it will have the rpm band but i think it could give more low end torque and drive much taller gearing to compensate for its lack of rpm. Obviously this is all speculation but i can't wait to see what these little guys can do, sure they will be no picco's but this for sure a step forward that has the bashing scene has been needing to compete with the brushless/e-vehicle market.

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
ORIGINAL: HerrSavage More than exciting, on further reflection.. This could be a game changer, and win back some turf for those who think electric is the work of the devil.. The ramifications for nitro could be dire.. Very, very interesting, if this thing goes well at all and is half-way affordable.. Could be a major revolution in RC.. Brilliant of HPI too to come out with not one, but a whole series of cars....
Agreed. Many companies have set out to reinvent the wheel and few have done so, but others have gone out and found ways to improve on what works. Nitro i think is a dieing gem, i love it but the price for the fuel and the up keep is getting more and more over looked as batteries ever evolve and the cost to run time ratio grows. I think with hpi taking what they know and have a solid platform and doing something different that could turn tables on engine platforms for these cars and make us re think everything. Will this replace brushless and lipo? No, but this will give us a much cheaper alternative and give us that soul and sound we crave. I think if done right i think pros would be run times, cost, and if they can produce some good pep they could really do some damage in the rc market.

Dude i just came to post this, shucks but droool. The more i look at the savage the more i see, i like how hpi is finally giving us a proper mid tank mod solution. Edit 3: The only place that engine looks at home is in the savage, if you notice when its in any of the other cars there's no exhaust mounted, yet if you look at the savage they have a pipe on it. Makes me wonder if its just for show in the other cars, or if some pipe is going to be made to run it out the back seeing as how the electronics are on that side.

RE: Hobbico?
ORIGINAL: ReaperGN
ORIGINAL: proanti1 Nothing will change... Hobbico was already the exclusive distributor of Axial products.
Nothing will change for the buyers but now Hobbico can roll up to Axial HQ. Take their newest creation and set it on fire. Then have them make something else. While that probably wont happen there probably will be changes.
I see this happening more or less to a degree, more on the front of axial makes a product and hobbico comes a long and takes and re-badges it to the other lower spectrum rc brands. Think about it like the clones, a while back smart tech came out with a 1/5th scale truck and sold it to xtm, duratrax and a few others which simply put there logo on it when the true heart of the truck was smart tech. So i see axial coming out with some basic entry lvl crawler and then hobbico will make some changes good/worse and give it to one of there other product lines to sell for more/less. Some shops might not carry axial but another hobbico brand so this would get people the same product but at a lesser cost because it doesn't have the name brand name.
