RE: MHZ Gearbox oil orWhat lube ?
Hi Randy long time no hear how you doing ?, although I dont have the Mhz unit I have the WD200 unit on my K600s I use 20W 50 car engine oil in mine works no problem stripped the gearbox down a couple of weeks ago all was fine. should think you would be ok with that type of oil, ( mine is not vented but has a oil tube from the bottom of the box returning to the top gives you a vueable oil level ). Bob.

RE: Apache 84
Hi Mario Thanks for your reply, I ran my apache yesterday Sunday 26th but much overheating problem with the engine ( My Fault ) I had the water lines going from the pumps to the cylinder heads and water exiting from the nipples near the exhaust ports this is wrong and will cause overheating the cylinders i changed it around this morning + I changed the tygon line I was useing for the pulse on the pumps to a much harder line. I ran the engine up outside my house this morning ( not to long to upset my naugbours hi) and now have much better flow overboard !. Hope you get your problems solved, PS. I run the schuner flex cables the ones with the brass winding they are much stronger cable ok. Bob.

RE: Apache 84
Hi Mario let me see if I can help you here, I have added a picture on my engine setup of my 58" apache which works very well. my twin water pumps (MHZ units ) are mounted on a carbon plate directly oppersite the carbs this is to keep the pulse lines as short as possible, my pulse lines are the yellow tygon lines you see in the picure. also my K600s is fitted with ali isoblocks and the pulse is taken directly from the bore of the iso block and NOT by drilling into the pulse port ok. you say you are geting vibration how strong are your engine mounts ? Mine are 7mm thick ( 2mm Carbon + 3mm Marine ply + 2mm Carbon ) epoxy sandwich laminated Very strong. What engine / gearbox rubbers are you useing, mine are hard 20mm dia x 1/2" thickness ok. I cannot help you with your wire from your drives I use the WD200 steerable drives as you can see. before I forget where are you geeting your water from to the Pumps is it from under the Hull (like Mine ) are they big enough for the pumps ?. You will nee lots of air getting into and out of the hull with the 520 motor even now with the large vents I have it gets very hot with the lid on, also I have wraped my hot pipes, Mario please take some close up pictures of you engine rubbers / pumps so we can get a better idea Thanks Bob.

RE: 56
buck for buck I would go with the speedmaster V2 available from gizmomotors USA probably the nearest to you, I use the V1 Speedmaster on both on my AC Lazer 45s with no problems with them over the past 3 years. Bob.

Hi JacK as all the other guys have said LiFe is the way to go, I run hyperion 6.6V 2080mah pack in my Futaba 4PKs and ive just ordered some 9.9v hyperions for my futaba 3PKS radios, would not use anything else. Bob.

RE: 56
Hi Top Gun ( Sorry no name on your Thread ) I will go along with Mart, i.m the one that runs his apache with the K600 in it, Firstly the reality is the Mac motor is never going to produce the power / Rpm for a 56" boat far to much bulk - weight, home made pipe probably no where near being in tune with the motor so you will loose out their as well. The sub surface drive well ok but but the apache would be better with a stinger drive. as the other guys have said the zen / K30 motors would benefit you greatly. Bob.

RE: broken shaft?
ORIGINAL: antoniav Hi thanks for ur help the problem is that the joint between flexible and rigid shaft is broken the question is how can I take the shaft out to substitute or repair? should it come out from the prop side? or should I remove to engine to take it out from the clutch Thanks in advance Antoniav
Hi Antoniav first remove the stub shaft from the back of the boat + the flex shaft from the clutch, now you have both parts of your drive cable clean any remaining glue from the stub shaft you may need to drill it out but it MUST be clean !. next clean off and remaining glue from the flex shaft ( use a wire brush + sand paper ) make sure you remove all the glue. now both parts are clean use LOCTITE 648 GLUE ONLY, put some in the stub shaft and on the flex cable, push the two parts together. clean any overspill glue off with a rag, leave the cable for 24 hours for the glue to set. DO NOT PUT THE CABLE BACK INTO THE BOAT FOR 24 HOURS ! put the drive dog back onto the shaft and make sure the grub screw is tight. Bob.

RE: Pipes
Hi Wet ( sorry I dont know your name) No these are not the lenkstruts if you look at the WD200 site these are the 2nd ones down on the drive his drive list, they are quite a bit larger than the lenkstruts ( i think you need lenks for the SV43 ). the only think I have done to my drives is made 2 x stainless posts to raise the hight for the servo conections + i made a new adjustable tie bar across the drives from stainless steel and fitted floating rod ends, I never use anything Snap on on my boats. I am useing a pair of Futaba BLS-157HV 7.4V servos in push pull configuration to steer the drives 37kg Each at 7.4V (massive overpower ) but im a safty guy they hold these drives rock solid. full build pics of the apache build are on my facebook page ( Robert Wake ) - the avartar pic the guy with the long hair an tash - apache album. Bob.

RE: RCMK steerable stern drive
Hi Mick I found it kind of strange that RCMK built their steerable drive then never bothered to put them for sale on their web site ? which is why I went for the WD200 drives for my Apache. if you go to all the expensce of tooling up to manufacture a product then you would want to sell it, in order to sell it you have to advertise it, no advertise no sales, like a lot of RCMK products perhaps it had faults !!. just my opinion Bob.

RE: RCMK steerable stern drive
Hi if I were you I would forget trying to put any kind of steerable drive on a 39" boat they are to big, i have a pair of WD200 drives on my 58" apache ( see my pic ) drive is 6" in length from Transom to drive dog, and you will need a lot of servo power ( more expense ). Bob.

RE: Zenoah Running Hot...
i A couple of thing that may be worth taking a look at, you say the boat has not been run for 2 years i would first pull the cylinder cap and see if there is any corrosion build up, run a drill bit through the water nipples in the jacket. check inside the water pump see if there is any muck in there, have the diaframs deteriated maybe good to replace them ? we dont get the temps over here in the UK that you guys get it CA. good idea to check if you have not already done so. Bob. PS. Daniels always a great source of help with these things Bob.

RE: Apache 84
Hi Mario Something has just come into my head since you ask about the tygon fuel tube, have you used gas engines before ? or just nitro ? you will need to mix at least 8 oz of 2 stroke oil to 1 gallon of gas for the S520 Engine ok. Bob.

RE: Apache 84
Hi Again Mario here is a picture of the fuel pump that you need, make sure you get one that is ok for GAS the nitro ones dont use ok, you should be able to get these somewhere in italy but I dont know any shops there ! you must also use 1/8 tygon yellow gas pipe with the pump dont use anything else ok. The brass splitter I made myself but you can also use a "Y" connector from most model shops. Bob.

Hi Rick They couple to the boat via silicon tube, most of the better style exhaust tips come from Germany, I have 2 of the silver anodized one's shown in my pic below for sale if your interested, they same tips shown on my 58 apache being built at the moment but these are plain ali finish. Bob. thse pics should give you some ideas Rick. added another pic with some other styles I made on the lathe,

RE: new with lots of questions...
Hi Guys Ile chip in here I think a few of you are missing the point here, as we all know the riva is a wood hull plank on plank construction that was never designed to handal 20hp or the all up weight / space that 2 x 520's is going to need + 4 pipes ! seems logical to me even if it is a 67" version of the Riva you would have to hack the bulk heads to bits + do a very major amount of strenghening to fit everthing inside. sorry to say it but it sounds to me that not much thought has been put into this one !!.
