RE: 2010 US Nats... share YOUR story
Hi everyone, I am not active writer in forums, but I see a couple post regarding me and I thought it was a good opportunity to write and make it "official". Where I am?....well I've been here[:)] following the NATS through RCU!. I had plans to go today to watch the finals but got busy. As you see my passion for F3A still with me as I am here writing an following what happened during this week. Not too long ago I was honored to be a team member!, life and times are a bit different for me. I am in a different stage of my life, enjoying very much all the new aspects of it. Of course I was thinking on how many of my friends competing at NATS where doing, seen the new airplanes, comment, you know all the good things you get every time you go to the NATS. About my future with competitions, I can say that now my excitment with airplanes is at it picks, I enjoy very much what I am doing, I think the new product we've been working on and coming soon would reflects that. I've been all my life a very focus person to do things the best I could. Time for my family is my main goal, also for my work and it is about all I can do! I real enjoy competing but only if I know that I am prepare. So I can say that I am "retired" from flying competition but as Dad told me nothing is forever...... Finally let me congratulate to all classes winners and specially to our new F3A team that would represent us next year in our W/C. Thank you and......... I miss you guys!. Regards. Quique

RE: Nitro Yak vs. QQ Yak 69"
ORIGINAL: thevirginian octanehuffer, To bring this argument between you and me to an end, here is what I believe is the truth: QQ designed a beautiful and great performing airplane. He goes to China and cuts a deal with CMP. One of the stipulations is that CMP can manufacture his Yak with another color scheme and sell it to different distributors worldwide. In return he gets a certain percentage in royalties for every Yak sold. Not a bad deal if you consider that CMP probably sell ten times as many Yaks for half the price than what QQ is selling his for $370.00. And I wouldn't blame him a bit for a move like that, because it's nothing but good business sense. I said it before: Do you really think QQ, or Rezagh for that matter had absolutely no idea that CMP was selling a less expensive copy of his own design. Things like that won't go unnoticed, not even for a week. Now, let's assume CMP "stole" the design. How to you think you can get a hold of all the drawings and jigs and molds, in order to create a perfect counterfeit? Not if it is an ARF. You need to have the blueprints, as a minimum. With blueprints I mean, of course, the original 3D drawings in electronic format, otherwise you are not able to set up the laser cutters and all other parts that are CNC'd. But I don't think QQ has anything to worry about. As a matter of fact, this may even benefit him more than the other way around. Again I will keep you guys up to date with my progress on the "cheap clone"[:D]
My post was in reply to this above post. Thanks. Quique Somenzini President Quique's Aircraft Company

RE: Nitro Yak vs. QQ Yak 69"
I was on a trip when my people made me aware of this thread (last Monday March 3rd) since then I’ve been following it very closely. I am very surprise to learn that there are people out there that know more than what I know about Quique’s Aircraft Company. It is simply incredible how people like “thevirginian can be writing with so much knowledge about my own company and my own principles as a person and business man. “thevirginian I have solid principles as a person and my principles are absolutely tight to my way to do business. Thevirginian, let me answer: “QQ designed a beautiful and great performing airplane. He goes to China and cuts a deal with CMP. This is an incredible accusation and absolutely false. “One of the stipulations is that CMP can manufacture his Yak with another color scheme and sell it to different distributors worldwide. In return he gets a certain percentage in royalties for every Yak sold. This is an incredible accusation and absolutely false. “. Not a bad deal if you consider that CMP probably sell ten times as many Yaks for half the price than what QQ is selling his for $370.00. Perhaps this is not a bad deal for you but absolutely not for me and my principles as a human being. How can you know how many we sell???. About price I am not going to talk at this time. “And I wouldn't blame him a bit for a move like that, because it's nothing but good business sense. As I said before, my principles in life are very far from this way to do business. My customers are the most valuable part for me and for my company. I consider my customers as part of my family and the foundation of my company. With my partner in business Wayne Ulery we work together in all decisions relative to our business and airplane production. All the airplanes that we sell are my own design, I personally design all my airplanes, I personally test the prototype and in many cases two or more prototypes before I commit any design to production, I personally do all the flying and building reports with our OEM. Wayne and I personally travel to China to check our airplanes, I personally enjoy what I do and I feel this is the fairest way to support our customers. On the other hand my good friend Rezagh has been doing the manuals for us, flying all our airplanes and through all this knowledge he is supporting our customers on line in an unbelievable fair and honest fashion. At QQAC we are very proud of every airplane we produce for our customers. Once again our customers are the most important part or our business and for whom we have the most respect. To me there is no other way to do business than to have respect for our valuable customers. “Do you really think QQ, or Rezagh for that matter had absolutely no idea that CMP was selling a less expensive copy of his own design. We did not have any idea until this thread appeared. About other comments written by “theVirginian I reserve my answers for now. I am very disappointed to see how people like “thevirginian can come to a thread like this and start to write things without knowing what they are talking about in front of hundreds of thousands of people around the world. “Thevirginian please respect other people. Accusations, innuendos, and wild rumors do not become you or any others that speak to rumors or add to them when they have no idea to what they speak. RE: Kimball-Somenzini Python Build Thread
Hi Guys, Reza is having some problems converting my instruction Python for DA-85 (word) to PDF file. Soon the post will happen at this thread and our support forum. About the question on post #651. Please check my Python flying with DA-85 at post #650. I have several customer asking me same question. If you own a 100cc engine that will be your best choice. If you do not have 100cc. I will say go for the DA-85. It is a great combination at lower cost with same or better performance. You'll have a lot of fun!. As soon weather gets better I will fly again the Python but this time with the Greeve pipe. I will keep you inform. Take care. Quique

RE: Kimball-Somenzini Python Build Thread
Hello everyone, The Python with DA85 is finish and flying. It is a big success. I am very happy and very impress with the way this combo performs. The airplane balance very well. Two 3,000 lipo right in the cockpit area for RX. No extra weight for balancing. I flew the airplane on muffler (Slimeline Pitts style) and the total weight is just under 25lbs. 24 lbs14oz. It is very amazing to fly an airplane with that weight and 2,400 square inches of wing area and with almost same power as a 100a cc engine, simple incredible feeling. I am very impress with the engine. I need to spend more time with props to find best one for it. I flew with a Mejzlik 26x12 and felt right. The engine turns that prop 70 rpm less than a DA 100 (on mufflers too) with same prop (the 100 is well broke in though). We run it also with Greeve pipes and the power it is simple amazing. Actually I am reading same rpm as my DA100 also on pipes but again the DA85 is brand new engine. We need to experiment more to find pipe length and prop combination. On muffler the throttle was very, very smooth as you will see at the video and the vibration is very smooth, surprising smooth! Mounting the engine is very simple and very small changes need it. We have a video. Actually we had a nice weather break here in OH and I was being able to do some flights. I did have a lot of fun and I can see this airplane doing things that before where just a dream or a wish! I will post (or Reza) the video and later we are coming with instruction on how to mount the engine and exhaust system. I like the fact of having more options. Both options of 100cc or 85cc are good. Is always nice to have more choices or experiment somthing new. I am just back from AMA show. I want to thank you all people stopping at our booth. We had a great time. Thank you. Quique

RE: QQ 69" - is it good to go now?
Hi Guys, The 69" are ready to go. I trully feel this is one of the best flying airplanes we have produced. Very light and incredible lock in feel flying at high or slow air speed. OS 120, YS 110, Saito 125 are incredible engines for this airplane. Hope more and more people get their hands on our 69". I enjoy very much flying this airplane as it trully feels as one of my bigger ones. Take care. Quique

Galaxirpv, I am checking about delivery date of the new gears. I will confirm you with in couple days. About customers that already own a Python and are not happy with the light gear provided we will ship them one new gear at no cost. The existing gear (milling) is what I am using to fly and had a lot of flights. I am happy with it. I should be back to you soon. Thank you. Quique

RE: Kimball-Somenzini Python Build Thread
Happy New Year every one! The RX battery (s) pack (s) should be mounted in the turtle deck and using the battery mount we provided with the kit when you use a DA100 or similar engine (weight) on muffler or canister. I have on mine 2 Duralite 3,000 lipo located in the turtle deck as we show in the manual. I am using Tru Turn spinner 4.5 P-51 style with hollow plate and Mezjlik 26x12 2 blades prop. Ignition battery pack is a JR 4.8V 2,700 MHA. Also for rudder one JR 8711 servo. These are the things that can affect the balance of the aircraft. The overall weigh of the kits are very similar, so if you consider the weight of these items you will get the right balance. Python 100 as all biplanes are very sensitive to the CG. Please get CG as close you can to the CG location suggested in our manual. Monoplanes are a bit more forgiven CG wise. Through pilot’s feeling monoplane can be set a bit nose heavy or tail heavy. There is a range that you can play a bit. So for 3D you fly the airplane a bit more tail heavy than when you fly precision. With the Python 100 one single CG will cover both type of aerobatic performing at best. I real like this factor. For you that already flew the airplane would agree with me, on how easy this airplane will perform harrier maneuver. Nose will stay up (inverted or upright harrier) effortless. This give you a super feeling on harrier roll and 3D in general. Monoplane you have to set CG real tail heavy to get the feeling you get with the Python 100 when executing 3D. The most remarkable the Python will still feeling solid and tracking exceptionally well when is flown on precision. Also on landings Python will feel very friendly. A similar feeling you get when you have a monoplane set up a bit nose heavy. About the gear, Reza is correct we are making new solid gears (no more milling). This will means a little bit more weight 2.5 oz. but more robust gears. We keep working on installing the DA85 on one of our Python. So far is looking very well and very small changes are necessary. We need to keep building till finish the airplane to real find out if we can reach the proper CG and give green light!. We are setting up the airplane for the Pitts style muffler, Canister and tuned pipe. There is no problem to use any of them (room wise). CG will determinate what will be the way to go. Once we finish we will post an instruction document about DA 85 installation on the Python 100. Stay tuned!! My best wishes for 2008 guys!! Quique Somenzini

RE: Kimball-Somenzini Python Build Thread
Hi Everybody, Happy Holidays! First of all let me thank you for choosing our Python 100 as one of your airplanes. The Python is a very special airplane for me, a biplane that I have always dreamed to fly and own. I am glad I can share this dream with you. We have had some reports of issues with some of the cowls (many are ok) not fitting properly to the fuse. My dear friend Reza who every hour is doing a tremendous job for all of us with incredible support has also been warning me for some time about this issue. We’ve been traveling as most of you know, no excuses here, so we are a bit late and please accept my apologies for that. My dear friend Kevin Kimball came with a solution to fix the cowl, which he posted, and we thank him very much for doing that. Wayne and I feel we need to do something to get this issue behind us. At the present time we are matching each cowl to each fuselage on every airplane we have in stock at our warehouse here in USA. From today every Python 100 that is shipped out will have his cowl checked and aligned to the fuselage. We are bolting the aluminum brackets and doing small tweaks. We already went through several airplanes and the problem with the cowl comes mainly from the back of the cowl not been flat as well the front of the fuselage not being flat. Differences are very small here and there so these differences are what we are adjusting. So this is the solution and corrections that we are making for you that are thinking on purchasing our Python 100. For those of you that already own our Python 100 and have issues with the cowls we want to help the best possible way. We finish here at our shop a small addendum on how to fix this issue. Reza will be posting this information shortly at this forum, support forum and our web. Please understand that even if we were to send you a new cowl (supplies very limited) this will not fix this problem for the reasons I explained before. Other news is:……. next week we will be working on the installation of the DA-85……yes one of these will be on the Python. I am exited about this project. I do not know how it will come out as the engine is much lighter than the 100. If I am happy with this combination I would like to share with you what we will be doing in order to get this engine powering our Python and perhaps some of you will want to follow this direction. I do not want to talk too much about this installation until we get the CG situation resolved in a satisfactory manner. Keep an eye on it! Take care and happy Holidays!!
