RE: True or False
I have never heard of leaning a motor when it gets cold. You want to richen the high side up just a tad to accomodate for the cooler temperature. The cooler the temperature, the more air will go into the cylinder because the density of the air is affected by temperature. If you lean the motor out to make it run hotter(assuming it is nor running like crap), you are only starving the motor of lubercation.

RE: TAKING MY MOTOR APPART AND NEED SOME HELP!
Did the sleeve even move up any or is it still stuck in the case? If it raised up enough, you can take a small screw driver and gently pry against the case to get it out but be careful not to bend the sleeve. If it didnt move, stick it in the oven to expand the case and try the zip tie method with the engine hot.

RE: TAKING MY MOTOR APPART AND NEED SOME HELP!
Put the case in the oven at around 300 degrees F for 10 to 15 minutes. Take it out and tape the end off the case on a wooden block and it will fall out. Take something you can shove do into the case and knock the front bearing out. When you go to put it back together, do the reverse. Put the case in the oven (bearings in the freezer to cool them down so them will shrink) 15 minutes later, drop the rear bearing in.

RE: Wheel center nut
Well, you should really check them after each run but, if you dont want to do that, you can use blue loctite. If I were you, DO NOT PUT MORE THAN A DROP on the tread and then screw the nut on. It will be just enough so you can still get it off with out too much work.

I have also bought about 4 sets of these tires. They are just like the crimefighters except they are harder. I have been soaking them in WD 40 and other off the shelf tire soaking chemicals to make them softer. I will continue to buy these tires as well.

RE: Throttle curves
This is the exponential settings on your remote. If you add 100% exponential, it will slow the response of the servo down. The curve will start flat and as you increase the input (throttle on remote) the curve will start to rise. This rise in the cure is the output to the servo making it react. So, if the exponential was set to 100% it will slow the initial output of the servo. If you go the other way to -100% it will speed up the initial response of the servo.

RE: Largest Capacity Fuel Tank
ORIGINAL: crotolus I strapped a 1 quart odonnel bottle on my hyper 8.I just had to cut the body out a little bit and i had to use a few extra zip tys but know really notices.
Yeah that one will work. First off, its just a club race Everyone at the track is running larger tanks. The reason why I was asking the question is I need to place an order for some other parts online and was going to ask everyon here. I will have to wait another two weeks before I go to the races to ask them so I kinda need it before then. If someone has any usable info, I'm all ears. Thanks
ORIGINAL: Hincappe damm man. if you still need to cheat further to win then you really need to look at your own driving. 150cc should easily get you 10minutes. what further advantage should you need? even i dont cheat, i pit stop at 7minutes, a pit takes 6 seconds extra. thats 1 less crash i do. unless you can consistantly go around without a crash for 10minutes then forget about cheating. Largest Capacity Fuel Tank
Good evening. I have a Hyper 8 and I need to put a bigger fuel tank in it now. I have a tank from a lx comp that is 150cc but, I would like to get a bigger tank. My track has NO rules so I need to increase my run time by just a bit. Does anybody know of a bigger tank that I could use? Maybe something from a truggy? Thanks

The P5 is a 5 port and the 21-5 is a 3 port. There might be a different casting for the crankshaft (short or long stroke).

Question about Ride Height and Rebound Stops
Hello all. I have a question. There is a set up for Revolation Raceway at the following link: [link=http://nitrohouse.com/setup_hyper8.htm]Hyper 8 Setup[/link] It says that there is 33MM for the ride height and 48 MM for the rebound stop (on the front end). Can someone please explain how these values are measured and adjusted. Thanks

RE: I need a better Air Filter
I have been talking to my buddy about making an entire new air filter assembly. We already had the idea to block the end of the motor saver because it does not filter through the prefilter. I would like to make an assembly that uses something like the motor saver but then add a filter on the end of that will trap all the fine dust particles. I have tried taking a white face mask (cheap disposable ones) and cutting it into a small circle and placing it into the base of the filter housing and then sliding the foam inner core over that. The problem being is that there is not enough mask surface area to allow the motor to breath. It just chokes it off. So, another idea I had was using a coffee filter. Oh the idea just coming and coming. I appreciate all the response. Keep it up! Thanks

I need a better Air Filter
Hey guys, How's it going. I have a delima that is getting old real fast. It seems that I can only get about 2 gallons of fuel through any motors that I run. I know it is not related to breakin or getting hot. It is losing compression. The problem is that I race on a track that if dusty. Did I say dusty, I meant VERY dusty. I am using a motor saver with outers and inners both oiled with PJ1 filter oil. The outer filter is changed about 1/2 way through the night with a new outer filter (with oil). I know for a fact that the dust is killing my motors. What can I do? Is there a better filter that is finer than the motor saver. I think that the fine dust is just working its way through the filter and oil and the excess filter oil is carrying the smallest dust particles into the engine. I am thinking something like a foam outer filter with some sort of paper inner filter. Does anybody have any reccomendations for a filter that will filter smaller particles? Thanks

Yeap, Its run what you brung and hope you brought enough. I like the idea. Do what ever you can do to win. Driving is 95% of it anyway. A bigger motor doesnt mean much if you cant drive. You should see some of the truggy guys cars. They have fuel tanks that could hold a 7-11 BIG GULP. They have got to be near 250 to 300 cc tanks. 15 minute mains with no pit shop kinda neat huh! Later

Thanks for the info. I had to change the center diff out saturday night at the races because I completly broke the spur gear off of the hyper 8 center diff. Luckly, I had a spare center diff from a hyper 7 that has a 1 piece gear and much stronger. Bad thing is I did not chage the fluid out to what I normaly run because I didn't have time. But anyways, I think the current design of the lighter center gear Later

RE: sts 28 on a hyper 8
This is my car that is pictured. The camber is fine. I had 2 degrees of camber in the the fronts and rears and ALL the tires wore in the inside edges. I lengthened the camber links to take some camber out. The gas tank is a 150 cc out of an LX comp. It works great for 15 minute mains. Later

RE: Will a cheap pipe make a engine run hot
ORIGINAL: SManMTB
ORIGINAL: o.s. power you want to run a cold plug in .21 and larger engines.
Running a cold plug is not a rule and nothing to aim for either. To make max power you should run as warm plug as you can without blowing it up. A plug that is too cold will have a problem keeping the 'glow' when you go down the straight. The engine sounds like it's 4-stroking and you immediately think: 'Aahhh... it's running rich, let's lean it out'. That's as wrong as it gets. The engine will start to sound OK again but you are now running lean just to keep the plug lit ----> engine runs hot. A warmer plug would have taken care of that.
So, Your saying I need to run a hot plug. Will that help the temps go down? I think the Rex motors are sealed up pretty good with orings instead of gaskets. But, to be sure, I guess I will take the backplate and carb off and seal that up just to be sure. I have also got new lines on the car along with changing the gas tank. This should take care of any air leak issues. I will let yall know. Any more info would be appreciated also.

RE: Will a cheap pipe make a engine run hot
The clutch bearings are new. I just replaced them with the new motor. I richened the HSN up 1/2 trun and it seemed to rev alittle better. But, that was short lived. I stripped out the ring gear on the rear diff so, I will have to fix that. I will be messing around with it on Saturday. If anyone has anymore suggestions, please feel free to comment. I will let yall know what happens. Thanks

RE: Will a cheap pipe make a engine run hot
I just went outside and ran another tank through it. I think the LSN is adjusted fine. If I pinch the line with a pair of needle nose pliers, it revs up and dies in about 3 seconds. I will go back out side and riched the HSN 1/2 turn and see what it does. Thanks

RE: Will a cheap pipe make a engine run hot
The plug was a super cool plug. I just pulled it out and changed it to a regular one. I dont know the number because they are cheap plugs. The plug that i put in is another cheap plug (megatech mtc16192). I got the pipe in and put it on the buggy. The temp are down just slighty. It still doesnt have the top end. Could it be gear ratio? I play around/race on a very small tight track. The overall gear ratio that I am running is 11.71:1. The spur/cluctch is 3.642 (51/14) and the ring and pinion is 3.14 (44/14). Should I drop a tooth on the clucth bell? It seems like I have to hold down on the trottle along time (a couple of seconds) before it really gets up there in rpms and it still doesnt seems as high. Also if I lean it out on the HSN, it will get there but the temps just get to high. I am still running without the body on also. Thanks for all the help

RE: Will a cheap pipe make a engine run hot
It seems like the engine has no top end (It reaaly doesnt have that high pitch when it reached the higher rpms. Im assuming this is because of the cheap pipe. The 086 pipe is suppose to fix this. I will be putting the new pipe on when I get home from work today. Can I set the lsn first by doing the pinch test on it before I set the HSN?
