SH .18, in the Nitro STR On-road car??
Looking for more power and speed, any input on installing the SH .18 engine for the Lighting STR?, i'm looking to re-gear it with HPI's 18t/23t Clutchbell and gears, but using the stock 2-speed tranny. The stock VX .16 on 30% is not fast enough, LOL, but I'm not spending $400 + for a new faster car. THX.

RE: How do you guys clean up your Nitro cars?
Air compressor, a small blow gun use about (50psi), this will blow away any, and all dirt, rocks, grass, a dust from the whole car. Do this after each run, your car will look like new every time!, (view my photos)

RE: SH .18?
Agree with 8MILL! My SH.18 hauls! in an XTM truck, It was first sealed with high-temp RTV, than with a good 5-6 tank break in (Traxxas style), I run Thunderbolt plugs (#3Comp.) Byron Race GEN2 Pro-driver3000 30%, my temps are about 170-190ish, Very little tuning, only if needed, Good smoke trail, instant throttle! NO bogging at all. review my page see my set-ups. THX

Need Tuning? How to tune ??? And run 30%!
First Seal your engine with High-temp RTV, Seal the carb. neck, and the back plate, this will help hold your tune and seal up any air leaks, all engines will have some leaks.plus it will keep your temps low (170-190 ish) next set your needles to stock settings first for the break in (Rich HSN), break in with 20% fuel, 5-6 tanks., after break in, change the Onboard Glow Plug Drivers! Click Here. glow plug, use a hot plug, (Thunderbolt #3 works best) and get Byron fuel GEN2. Get Byron Race3000, or Pro-driver3000 It's 30%, but don't lean out too much! Always watch for that thin trail of Blue smoke!! at full speed, if there's NO smoke than your too lean, richen the HSN 1/8th turn out. after tuning the HSN(high speed needle), start to tune the LSN, you want your throttle to be quick and instant!, but NO Bogging up to get to full throttle., it should rev up quick.

RE: sh .18 vs. vx .18.....
running redcat Lighting STR vx.16 port/polish on sleeve, with HPI header port matched to the block/case, XTM tuned pipe (XTM-cellerator SH.18), HPI IS F Lexus body (Lexus Blue) Byron Pro-driver3000 30% fuel, engine has been sealed with (permatex red) High-temp RTV., my temps are 170-185!, perfect tune, instant throttle!, Sealing the engine makes a BIG differance for tuning! this car runs pretty fast for being the VX16, Looking to upgrade to the SH.18, or OS 18cv-R.
