RE: fg
ORIGINAL: AZBaja Motor mounts and mesh are old school thinking. Not too many people have stripped baja gears as far as I can tell. A few , but not many. Why have adjustments if it just causes problems.
old school??? - the holes on the crank cases have always been there,ANY company could of used thse holes & bolted the engine directly to the chassis - as for problems it takes 1min to loosen/tighten 4 screws on motor mounts and if done correctly they wont move,i would rather a mount take the force instaed of a crankcase,or have adjustable mesh to use a wider gear selection. btw the gears never strip due to mesh - mesh is between the diff ring and diff idle gear and have never seen no one on this forum strip steel gears there - at worse the engine will move if it aint set correctly, the gears that tend to strip are either a nylon pinion or nylon spur, those are set on gear carriers and have a NON adjustable mesh as the space is set by the two bearings.

RE: fg
motor mounts and mesh are there for reason, afterall it aint hard to bolt an engine straight onto a chassis useing the EXISTING holes on a crank case - even nitros use motor mounts

RE: Cable Brake Question!
the bushes are there to stop the screws that go through the top & bottem of the upright tightening against the axle, loosen those 2 screws off abit a see if its not those causeing the probs edit: not sure but you may also need to use 14mm drive squares, thats what im useing on the front with 65mm axles - your monster model will/should have 65mm axles but i think they come stock with 9mm squares - dont you get larger squares with the brakes??

RE: MCD Company
no one was mocking mcd - poeple need to chill.the name of the thread is "mcd as a company" not mcd versus what ever, like i said there the best looking production ls at the moment, but reading posts from 2 DEALERS in this thread, one has dumped mcd & the other has said they have to sell a certain amount,if i went into and model shop and the guy said i sell you this for £2000 rtr but i can only guarentee parts on how much i sell then i wouldnt bother, one of the reasons i passed on the mt 2 months ago coupled with the fact they dont support there (not so) older models even tho there still in buisness

i wouldnt put a k&n on with out a filter bag or red neck, they suck to much crap in,and i would avoid a copy k&n alltogether the material is far to thin - best filters imo are the r&n tuning 2 stage, stock fg foam filter, stock hammer filter

whats fg got to do with it??? btw i dont own a fg,the only fg parts on my car is brakes, radio tray,cv drives - mcd are poor at supplying parts for there previous models, and they all come previous sooner or later - simple test put a few links up were you can get spares for there older blue lines or black lines that aint that old,,,,,no ones knocking them but for $4000+ inc engine i want a couple

this is the only place i can find spares for there previous models - search any were there impossible to find, note the limited availabilty - thats what put me off buying a mcd mt last year, there previous models aint old and i have read posts before when they just stop parts supply dead and move onto there next thing http://www.rossendalemodels.co.uk/index.php?mod=category&id_ctg=110

RE: speed test update with race 28.5 oneills 57.8 mph
ORIGINAL: Earth Surfer
ORIGINAL: WikedBaja What motor is being used to achieve these speeds?
If the stock Baja goes 45mph at 16,000 RPM--than that motor will have to rev to about 21,000 RPM to hit 60mph. A G260 reed valve can get close to that----but a GP290 piston port--not much of a chance IMO. I don't know if the users engine is has a reed on it or not.
i thought a stock baja was 34mph and 37mph with wadding removed from can (according to rc magazine) + oneills posted a speed gun vid on here with a jetpro - positive it got around 40mph,60mph seems very high on a motor thats more torque than speed,,not bagging nothing but thats more like touring car speeds

RE: MCD BAJA 1000 4X4 PRO TRUCK IS ALMOST HERE!
ORIGINAL: badz
ORIGINAL: caad5 He is stating that FG is a weak truck and needs $4000 of alloy spent on it to make it strong. That is not true. That is the comment I was referring to that is bad mouthing the FG.
No he said this "people buy a fg and put all this alloy on it to make it stronger .and end up with a 4000 doller truck at least with the mcd you dont need all that alloy . to make it stronger " It doesn't say FG is weak he said people put all the alloy on it to make it stronger. Which actually he is right....read the thread for the guy who just bought a FG MT and read all the FG owners suggestions to him about upgrades, if it was strong why did they suggest so many upgrades?
then in your past words why did you buy 2 fg mts??,,,if one was crap why buy a second.....and people buy alloy simply because they can

RE: Motor comparison
oddified him self has been world & european no1 for both on and off road racing numerous times, and other top finishers use his engines,,,as for the price, people are paying that so good luck to the guy,,,,and any engine porter who says the wouldnt like that sort of rep to command those type of prices would be b/s,,,pase,seufert and others cost around the same....as for mowzer he will be the first to tell you that oddified are proven in rc (and mowzer motors aint that much cheaper),people that spend that kind of cash on a motor prob also spend $6000 on tyres a season alone, and those engines dont come with any gimmicks like reeds,2mm strokers, large bores, billet cases ect - thats why i said $299 for a ported oneills motor seems vg value for money - or $399 with reeds seems even better, btw im currently useing a zen bought from oneills with a ddm ported top-end edit:badz check prices on rc-car-online
ORIGINAL: hathi All Im saying is that I need to know who has a proven track record in building rc motors
none of the motors mentioned in this thread have a proven "rc" track record - you need to be looking at oddified, pase, stuffgart and a few others - there all pricey and not worth paying £550 ($1100+) for a oddified engine just for bashing, imo $299 for a oneills ported motor in this thread looks very good value for money.... edit: and those haveing baggin oneills tech guy - aint he only a 19yr old kid?,,,,very low
