I get with my Saito 1.8 4 stroke (30cc) over 10,000 rpm with an 18x6 master airscrew prop.... Sounds like somethng is wrong with you Homelite.

RE: engine sugestion for 110
What size prop are u using? It should be adequate unless u are not aiming for flying scale.

RE: How many wing bolts?
I have a different slant on this discussion guys. First its 2 bolts for me, no other way. Nylon bolts replaced the rubber bands we used to hold down that wing with. Now if you wish to use aluminum thats up to you, but with either nylon or aluminum you will damage your wing in a crash, the nylon bolt doesnt save the wing. If you want the wing to pop off in a crash go back to rubber bands. IMHO

RE: How many wing bolts?
If you have 2 and one breaks you will have one left. If you have one and one breaks you have splinters.... Pay extra attention how the socket/ blind nut is secured in place. Reinforce it anyway.

RE: Servo advise for my 1/3 weeks special
Why dont u check the torque ratings on the servos. They are mostly stated under 4.8 & 6 volt power. They show higher torque on the higher voltage. Of course a 5 cell pack has higher capacity if u are comparing the same type of battery pack but 5 cell instead of 4 cell. I have several such setups using Hitech servos and there is a large difference in flying time.

RE: Servo advise for my 1/3 weeks special
Whichever servos u end up using go with the 6volt battery pack. It will give u the max output from your servos and more flying time.

RE: Sig 4 Star tank problem
Joe, Coming back to your original question. I always use 3 lines from my fuel tank. To carburator, to muffler pressuretap and a filler tube that stays plugged up all the time after fueling. The pressure line equalizes the atmospheric pressure and makes the fuel flow by gravity if the level of the fuel in the tank is higher than the carb. Which leads me to the conclusion that u have to lower the tank.

On the OS engines I have it calls for center of tank to be 1/4" lower than needle valve.

RE: Its Official... I Ordered a Kit
Bill, You are very close to Muncie, IN. The headquarters of the AMA our mother ship:))) Look them up and check out their address and activities. There should also be several clubs around you and as all fliers we are all eager to help. You are getting close to making your biggest investment yet. The radio and engine. Just dont buy any sofisticated programmable radia yet. Find a 4 chnl radi but of course go with the 2.4 gz which will keep you from getting radio interference and kaboom.. Good luck

RE: help deciding which 1/4 cub kit
Not sure if any of the kits has a main wing tube as I had a bad experience with my Bud Nosen Cub which didnt and relied on the struts too keep the wings in place. When one strut failed the wing folded. Took me a while to rebuild the Cub from the rear of the cabin all the way up front. Now I have an aluminum tube going through. Good luck in your decision. RE: Great Planes J3 Cub 40
I have the Sig 1/6 scale Cub. As the cabin structure is somewhat flimsy I reinforced it in several places. Not sure if the GP kit is similar but I would suggest you take a look at that aspect of the kit. Great flyer, lots of fun. Rafeek

RE: LT40 Clipped Wing Starburst Covering
I have a 1/4 scale and a 1/5 scale both climb when throteling up. Find a speed that u like and trim it to that altitude so it will fly reasonably level and straight without having to fight the sticks. I also have a Nexstar trainer that does the sam. The similarity is due to the flat bottom airfoil. Just bot a Ultra Stick 40 with a symetrical airfoil so I could learn to do some aerobatics.

RE: Scale Dummy Continental Engine
Not a very exciting flight except that we dead sticked. As it ran out of runway (barely) it fliped over but no damage at all. Turns out the engine mounting bolts loosened. Changed the prop from the 18x6 to a 16x6 with which it flew. Need to do some trim adjustments, am in the process. I have to admit that the glide was superb, what a sight. Majastic to say the least. My buddy who is the flight instructor at our club was the skillful pilot on that flight that managed to keep the flight from becoming a disaster. I will report again when we get it in the air again but not before Friday. Happy 4th everybody Rafeek

Beautiful . The sound on the twin is most authentic. May I suggest, remove the background music as the engine's sound is the attraction. So u are now flying it with a Saito 1.8 4 stroke? If yes what prop size are u using. I have on mine an 18x6 master screw.

RE: Maiden 1/4 scale Sig Cub
Hi Biker, I am trying to draw a parallel with my Bud Nosen that weighed in at 16lbs and had the same enjine and Master air screw 17x8. Was getting a max of 7500rpm. I thought the engine was undersized at the time. After a serious crash I rebuilt it but am now up to 20lbs. I have an Saito FA 180 in it now but have not even fired it up yet. Not sure but my guess is it is overpowered. Your thoughts.
