RE: Where to Run Nitro Boats in or near StLouis Metro Area?
ORIGINAL: phil6019 I went there about a month ago and the grass was cut back and I was able to walk down to the lake and run several of my boats. Lots of sticks and junk floating in the water.
With all the rain this summer the lake level has probably been rising so that will generate the floating debris. The earlier high levels of the ajacent Meramec river may well have flooded Unger lake as well. This is two very wet spring and summers in a row.

RE: Where to Run Nitro Boats in or near StLouis Metro Area?
With all the recent rain the lake may have been flooded again by the Meramec river. Thay would be good and bad news. The good news is that the shoreline brush may now be mostly submerged. The bad news is that depending on flood level access to the lake itself may be a problem. If you go please post what you see?

RE: Where to Run Nitro Boats in or near StLouis Metro Area?
I checked the lake a few weeks ago. The shore line was well cut at the designated area as well as to and from the road. How ever the lake is still up into the shoreline brush so that has not yet been cleared, the main improvement needed. They Stl County Parks Maintenance people made it clear that until the lake goes down so that they can brushhog the brush that will not be done. There are lots of gaps in this shoreline brush that someone with a good disabled boat recovery capability good handle. I am not one of those. Beyond this rim of scattered shore line brush the lake is wide open. Hope for a hot dry summer. At least no new flooding this spring. I will check periodically and post. If you want the number of my Stl County Parks Maintenance contact let me know and I will PM you.

Caliban
Wow after every run. Damn I didn't know I needed to do this. But you must be right, because I ran mine 4 full tanks and the shaft was bone dry after. Its amazing how quickly it get out of there. I wish I could soder a grease fitting to the stuff tube and drill some small holes in the tefline and pump grease in the the shaft. This would be much easier.
Somewhere in the depths of this thread someone described/showed installation of an auto oiler (not grease) for the flex shaft that entailed attaching a fitting to the shaft tube for the oil to enter there.
ORIGINAL: Dan S Brass only. I have just read on another site, someone actually did some testing on Brass stuffing tube with the "S" bend, without, and with a Teflon liner. the best speed and rpm were with the "S" bend Brass tube only. The Teflon liner created drag and didn't rate well. Dan.
What is the site where this is posted?

The same identical prop on a 1.7HP engine versus a 2.5hp engine would seem to be either too much on one or too or too little on the other.
ORIGINAL: black talon another possibility is brass tube. thats what i did instead of a teflon tube. just get a brass tube the size of your teflon one. the teflon starts to grab at the flexcable when the rpm's go up, the brass does not.
So you just pull out the teflon tube and insert the brass tube and away you go?
