RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
ORIGINAL: jadamian75 I ordered a new computer today. Mines a 3 and a half year old laptop that probably would not run the program well and has a full hard drive already. The new desk top should run it well. When and where can we get the english version?
The German-to-English translation is in the works now and should be completed soon. Stay tuned here for updates.

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
rkeyslay, my answers in brackets below: I placed an order online. The invoice indicated a 18.43 Euro tax surcharge. Can I assume that since it is being shipped to the USA, that you will NOT actually be charging me tax? (According to Ikarus Germany, If they dispatch directly to the US they will not charge the VAT. Additionally the shopping cart should not show that.) Can I assume that disks will be shipped (or will it be a download)? (Disks) When will it be available (USA/English version)? (The translation from German to English is ongoing now and should be completed soon. I will post updates as soon as they are available) Can you provide an email address so that I can communicate with you privately? The info@ikarus.net email address does not seem to get monitored/responded to. Thanks. (Sorry to hear that, but sometimes Ikarus faces problems with foreign service providers and your email could have been blocked by spam filters. Just send a PM to me if you have anything really urgent)

RE: JR X9303
You should plug in the radio with the power switch off. The radio should turn on automatically when you plug it in, and the RF transmission should be automatically disabled too. Pls check with the 9303 manual on how to set it to PPM mode.

RE: AeroFly Professional Deluxe for Mac OS X 10.5
Matt, they are used for stuff like retractable gear, smoke, tow hook, wheel brake, bombs, canopy but not for dual rates. Nothing beats a programmable radio.

RE: AeroFly Professional Deluxe for Mac OS X 10.5
The standard gamecommander version in the USA is Mode 2 but you can switch between modes pretty fast by making some minor changes inside the gamecommander as per the attachment. However, if you have a programmable radio, I would recommend getting the usb interface version so that you can use functions like dual rates, mixes, etc.

RE: 3rd Aerofly sim cable
Hi Ralph, looks like your usb interface is dead. Send it in to Hobbico for a replacement usb cable http://www.hobbico.com/techsupport/index.html Keep the adapter cable with you. Since you're using a JR radio, make sure they send you a usb adapter cable also as in the pic. It could be that the usb interface is damaged by high static electricity. Try to avoid touching the metal connectors on the cable, store the cable in a static-free environment e.g. an antistatic bag, and ensure that your PC has good grounding.

RE: upgrade path of AFPD
Hi Bob, the other patches will not make a difference if you do not have any addons. On the AF5, I'll provide more info later. Your system should be able to handle AF5 without any problem. You can upgrade from AFPD to AF5 if you wish in the future, but by itself AFPD is great and I believe it will remain as the benchmark simulator especially for lower spec systems.

RE: upgrade path of AFPD
Hi Bob, if you do not have any addons, patch 1.8.0.25 will be what you need. I would suggest that you uninstall AFPD using the instructions at the bottom of this page http://www.aerofly.com/downloads.html and then reinstall AFPD followed by patch 1.8.0.25

RE: upgrade path of AFPD
Hi Bob, could you tell me what was the error code and message? Please also provide the following information: 1) Tell me exactly what kind of hardware you have, especially 3D graphics card, CPU, and any other hardware installed, sound card etc. 2) What is the RAM size? 3) Which operating system are you using, Win7 32 bit or 64 bit? 4) Tell me exactly what drivers you installed for the 3D graphics card. 5) Which addons do you have? 6) What is the version number printed on your main AFPD disk? 7) How did you install the main disk, addons, and patch (which version?), and what was the sequence of installation? 8) Post the tm.log file which you can find in the following directory C:\Program Files\IPACS\AeroFly Professional Deluxe You may open the file with a text editor like word or notepad. Just copy and paste the entire content into your post.

Check if you have the blue pots or the updated white pots. The blue pots are not so robust and may wear out faster.

14mz software version query
Hi Bax, my 14mz is currently on software version 1.2.1 and I believe the latest software version is 1.3.2. Are there any significant differences between the two versions? I have had no issues with the 1.2.1. Just wondering if it is worthwhile to do the upgrade. Thanks!

RE: Aerofly 5 preview!
There is more information in the Ikarus Germany website [link=http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/onlineshop/deutsch/oxid.php/sid/2ea75c3234845701d78d91979f685e6b/cl/alist/cnid/caa4720c50bb40dc3.63892922]here[/link]. I have summarized the interesting features below. It will need a more powerful cpu and graphics card compared to AFPD. Aerofly5 is an entirely newly programmed R/C flight simulator After the very successful “Aerofly Professional Deluxe the “Aerofly5, newly programmed from the ground up, will be released shortly. The new “Aerofly 5 convinces with many new features and functions. It sure is a new generation flight simulator for maximum flight enjoyment. The virtual world of the “Aerofly 5 offers, besides breath taking photo sceneries, completely new ‘4D-Virtual-Elements-Graphics, which have never been seen before. The new “4D-Virtual-Elements sceneries are extraordinary; just imagine 4D sceneries at the quality of photo sceneries. The “4D-Virtual-Element Technology makes trees sway in the wind, water move, while creating also thermals and wind. Thanks to this new technology the virtual world becomes lively. The quality of the graphics in full HD is second to none. It is up to you to determine the type of weather, wind and day time. Training Programs such as the new Torque and Hover Trainer for fixed wing model airplanes, the Hover Trainer for helicopters or a special Landing Trainer are outstanding programs to develop your R/C flying to perfection. Fascinating contests such as “Pylon Racing, “Air Race and “Limbo Flying are very interesting features. The “Aerofly 5 offers challenges for novices and experts alike. With the “Model Editor over 50 different models can be perfectly fine tuned to personal preference. Even the scale ratio can be increased or reduced. In the “Multi-Player Mode you may fly together with other pilots on the internet or local network. The Transmitter–Fast–Calibration and the Mode-Direct-Selection allow the pilot to easily set up his personal Mode in just a matter of seconds. With the Movie-Center you will create your very own flight videos. And the list goes on and on …. More than 43 new features, functions and set ups guarantee a maximum amount of flight enjoyment. Day of first release is October 30, 2009! Recommended system requirements: - Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon64 X2 - OpenGL Version 3.0 compatible 3D-graphics card from NVIDIA or ATI with 512 MB. At least as fast as NVIDIA GeForce 8800 or ATI Radeon HD4850 - For optimum sound quality we recommend a high quality standalone PCI soundcard, e.g. Creative Audigy. NEW!! Aerofly 5 for Mac has also been just announced for release in March 2010!!
