RE: My JR 12x 2.4 does not work on AFPD
Please post a photo of your cable connections from the computer to the radio. For the JR 2.4 12x, the signal from the trainer port should be PPM. Did you disable the trainer mode? With the 12x main switch off, does the radio turn on automatically when you plug in the adapter cable?

RE: Noob questions
You would have to manually modify the "crash-ground.wav" and "crash-water.wav" sound files in the SOUND folder. You could use a free .wav editing software like Audacity to reduce the audio gain. The "extras" sound setting is for the sound effects in the "extras" features in the main menu, for example "balloon pop". AF5 doesn't offer a feature yet for storing a position, perhaps in later versions.

RE: DX7 problems
I am not able to test all of them, but I think its true for DX6 and 7. Same thing applies for most of Futaba newer generation radios with the square micro-connector. It all depends on how the trainer port and adapter cable are designed. The radios that automatically turn on when the adapter cable is plugged in normally also disables radio transmission such that you don't have to remove the module. This is a safety feature to prevent overheating of the transmission circuits when using Aerofly. If you have to turn on the radio manually for Aerofly to work, then you would have to disable the radio transmission by removing the module, or through the radio software.

RE: DX7 problems
OK, sounds good to me! No, this is not in the manual as it is very dependent on the type of transmitter.

RE: DX7 problems
Dave, could you post a photo of your cable connection from the computer to your DX7? You should disable the trainer mode. Although the DX6/DX7 radio is DSM (not PCM or PPM), the signal from the trainer port is tapped before any modulation is applied and is PPM compatible, and therefore works with AF5. There is nothing to set in the radio, but an AF5 JR stereo-to-mono adapter cable is required. Leave the DX7 switched off before plugging in the adapter cable. The radio will automatically switch on when the adapter cable is plugged into the radio. The radio will not work with AF5 if it is manually switched on before inserting the adapter cable.

RE: Aerofly 5.7
If the version on your disk is after 5.5.x.x, then you only need to apply the latest patch which is "version 5.7.x.x to 5.7.5.3" which you can find here http://www.aerofly.com/downloads_en.html Which version do you see displayed on the left bottom corner of your AF5 startup screen? If it is version 5.7.5.3, then I guess it is fine. If you encounter any problems, then just uninstall AF5 and re-install it, then apply the latest patch. Only models and sceneries designed for AF5 are compatible. AFPD models cannot run in AF5 due to coding differences.

Hi Keith, do you have the windows or mac version? What is the version printed on your main AF5 disk? Which specific patches did you apply? On your last question, are you referring to models from AFPD, and whether they would work in AF5?

RE: AFPD Starflight large TMD file planes won't load
Thanks for the pic. For each of your computers: 1) Tell me exactly what kind of hardware you have, especially 3D graphics card, CPU, and any other hardware installed, sound card etc. 2) What is the RAM size? 3) Which operating system are you using, XP or Vista? 32 bit or 64 bit? 4) Tell me exactly what drivers you installed for the 3D graphics card. 5) Which addons do you have? 6) What is the version number printed on your main AFPD disk? 7) How did you install the main disk, addons, and patch (which version?), and what was the sequence of installation? 8) Post the tm.log file which you can find in the following directory C:\Program Files\IPACS\AeroFly Professional Deluxe You may open the file with a text editor like word or notepad. Just copy and paste the entire content into your post.

RE: How do I get My Aeroflt Pro USB dongle replaced?
Hi blue, I would suggest that you purchase a replacement usb cable from Ikarus USA. The replacement cable will be of the latest "usb key" design, and you will be able to use it when you choose to upgrade to AF5. I would suggest that you continue to use the usb interface version, instead of the game commander version, because this will allow you to use all the programmable functions in your computer radio, and if you use the same radio in the field you benefit from having the same "feel" of the radio as when you're using Aerofly. The old usb interface cable has to be returned to Ikarus USA. The cable will be exchanged for $29.95 plus S&H 8.95. Call Frank Heinrich and ask him also about the AF5 upgrade cost. RE: DSX9/18MZ and Aerofly
OK, now I understand you better. What you have now is the GC version of AF5, and you have an Ikarus slave usb cable. Well, you could use your own transmitter - you need to plug in both the GC (the GC has a security code) and the slave usb cable into two separate usb ports in your computer. Then just setup your transmitter in AF5 as per the instruction manual. The connections for Futaba and JR/Spektrum is as per the attached diagrams. Your transmitters should not be in trainer mode! They should be in PPM mode. Check the transmitter manuals. I am not sure about the 18MZ but for my 14MZ I have the FM module plugged in. My frequency menu shows that I am using the 8-channel PPM modulation. The other two modulations available are the 12-channel PPM (N1.3) and 12-channel PPM (N1.5). The N represents the PPM pulse width. I think the 8-channel PPM is using N1.0 by default, which is the standard PPM modulation that is compatible with the usb interface.

You said you purchased the GC version of AF5. Then you said the "old version" is the usb interface version. What is the "old version". This is a bit confusing. Could you explain clearly. Also, please post a photo of your game commander.

Which version of Aerofly do you have eg. AFPD, AF5? Did you purchase the game commander version or the usb interface version? The usb interface in your photo looks like the slave cable.

Jeff, your usb interface is a very old design and is most likely outside the 2-year warranty. I would suggest that you purchase a replacement usb cable from Ikarus USA.
