RE: Another TF P-47 Build
This is a fun build for the most parts and an excellent flyer. After many flights Mine flew away on July 3rd 08 [&o] for reasons unknown and I never did find it as our club field is near a river and a swamp...still I searched several times as it had a Jewel of an engine the O.S. 120 4/c W/ pump . I want another I'm sure the ARF would do but I like to build when I'm in the mood[8|]

RE: 07 TopFlite Stinson build
Well I started dry sanding the primer and nexxt thing I knew I had REMOVED the side windows and made some changes.. I used 1/32 plywood to form the window frames and glassed them with 1 layer of carbon tissue and .06OZ glass over that . I placed the frames between a layer of wax paper which was placed on a glass surface and then weighted it down with some old school books .The frames are right on and NOW I will just glue the wside windows in place 'flush' with the fuselage and then carefully glue the 'finish painted frames over the windows . I also simulated the metal panels on the forward fuselage and nose.and finishing up the wing fairings under the wing trailing edge. SO I 'm getting real close one problem remains I want to do this thing in over all gloss black with silver trim but can not find pictures. [8|]So any one reading this please post a (color)picture or two of an SR-7 or 8 in this scheme

RE: 07 TopFlite Stinson build
ORIGINAL: Zor The new generations have missed the luck we old timers had to fly in such beautiful machines as the Stinsons. As reported a few postings prior to this one I had my first airplane ride in a ''grown up Stinson''.when I was 11 years old. Much later after I became a professional pilot I flew the Stinson 108 but nothing beats filling the cockpit with the sounds of a big radial. Still popular for modelers are the Beechcraft stagger wings, the Fairchild 24, the De Havilland Beaver, and perhaps less popular but nevertheless beautiful machine like Mr. Molligan, the Tiger Moth, Fleet Finch and so many older airplanes that I can not remember all their names. I am missing seeing a Nourduyn Norseman; A Canadian designed bush plane that helped develop the north country. For me a model has to be a scale replica of what has been a real aircraft of previous years. It does not need all the fine details in and out. It just has to look reasonably accurately like the original full size airplane and built proportionally. I will be plastered to mention that a 3D foamy is not for me a model airplane. No one has to be a modeler to enjoy flying small airplane unable to carry the pilot. There is an aspect of the hobby to please and satisfy anyone. Great planes Micro Sabre horizontal stab repair
I just got my GP micro F-86 and while removing the charger I manged to drop it on the little jets stab. Here is the fix for light and THIN foam as was the case with this little EP Micro Jet The use of Carbon tissue from CST and (Z-POXY FINISHING RESIN) works great!! Just use a Q tip or such to ensures the resin has impregnated the carbon tissue and soaks up the excess epoxy. Hope this is useful[8D]

RE: 07 TopFlite Stinson build
Final details before a light coat of Klass Kote primer. The horizontal stab struts are joined in the center by sheet Aluminum and then is joined to the Stinsons fuselage with a 4-40 hex head threaded into a blind nut which is attached to the 1/8 plywood plate on the bottom fuselage- The wing struts have functioning bolts which pass through the back of the gear fairing, thru the Stinsons Aluminum struts . The wing fairings I came up with per 3 view drawings used a very light skim of bondo and 1/64" plywood and I'm very happy hoe the wing fairings worked out.

RE: Model Airplane News, then and now.
ARFs are good and getting better -I just can not imagine going to a store and buying a toy R/C plane to fly. For me since my first balsa kit in 1960 ,the "build" is perhaps the best part and whats more No one has one exactly like yours when (in my case) you eventually get it completed and air worthy and bring it out to field- I remember an evening at the field a couple years past ,when one of the new members demonstrated his nice slow and low flying electric. He informed me it was more relaxing..
ORIGINAL: bigphil Took mine out flying yesterday! This plane is so smooth, predictable, and realistic flying I really enjoy flying it. The 1.70 radial always draws attention and flies it so realistic. Rolling down the runway, up on the mains and lift smoothing into the air. [:D] Windy today! [:(]
Sorry for not commenting sooner Big Phil your AA SR-9 looks great I'm quite sure I'm going with the AA SR-7 !!
