RE: Best Drift Chassis?
check out the HPI pro D or the hot bodies Cyclone TC. i would say that these are "high class" drifters if you find that you can't afford them (like me) check out team losi xxx-s or HPI print2, i would consider these the "mid-class" drifters. not the best but not the worst and sure to NOT put a huge hole in your walet[:D]

RE: mugen CORR project (sneak peak)
yeah OFNA has an army of buggies[:D] the nice thing about that is that most of the parts are interchangeable. i found this out when i bought my hyper 7 from ebay, it came with three different arms. the rears are from somthing old and the fronts were new hyper 7 and old hyper 7. there were varying shock mount spots but overall it was no issue and functioned just fine. i ended up getting a complete set of arms just to make it even. My buddy has an ultra comp lx1 buggy and i compared his to mine...his has way more ground clearance then mine. If you're looking to build a truck, you might as well build it to tackle nasty terrain[>:]...hehe my iner savage 4.6 SS is comeing out.

RE: Changing drifting to touring and back?
Im not familiar with the sprint2 drift edition but here's what i would do: try sticky tires first and see how it runs, if it still spins out easily in a corner then i would start to look into changing up the diffs. typicaly, you'd want the front diff to be kinda loose and the rear a bit tighter (not locked). if it's still not hugging the corner so well i'd look into the supension changing mount positions, spring stiffness, shock oils. for me when ever i run with sticky tires, i set the suspension to a softer setting...works great with my losi xxx-s. good luck with yours![:)]
ORIGINAL: rcak It would be cool to convert what we have then spending big coin on new ride!!
i think this was our thinking too...it sure saved me a bundle of cash. if this was not an option, i think i'd blow it all on the sc8...man toss in a litle cash and you could up it to 1/5th scale with a gas engine. ~$700 is a hefty price to pay for a nitro...for me anyways[:D]

RE: easy Corr truck project
yup...i know it can get confusing because proline has a "desert rat" body for a lot of vehicles. they are all different sizes for example: there is a "desert rat" for the revo and then there is a "desert rat" body for the hpi 5b as well. I found that on Proline's web site: www.pro-lineracing.com/ they have corr truck bodies (which is where the slash and slayer bodies are found) and some helpfull measurements on each body. compare the wheel base of the body to the wheel base of your buggy, it's a simple way to judge how the body will look on your vehicle. What site are you ordering your body from?

i've heard alot of good things about the LRP...if i remember right, there's been a huge debate about the LRP and the picco p3. if it's anything like the picco your corr truck will haul balls! mine does![:D] i kinda wish i had bought an LRP instead of another picco p3 just to see what it's like.

hmmm...it's traxxas![:D] no, i'm just kidding. i dont really know if the slayer is good or bad, i just don't like traxxas all together...it just seems like their stuff is poorly built to me...but everyone has different experiences. i guess it really depends on what you plan to do with it. i'd imagine it'd be great for running around the yard, i can't see it being very good for crazy jumps and bashing.

RE: easy Corr truck project
set mine up with the body seated kinda low so it rubs the body when it bottoms out, it's not a major issue to me though because the wheel wells fit the buggy tires so well that there are no jagged points hitting the tires to do any damage... it could easily be fixed by raising the body a couple notches.

easy Corr truck project
this is what i've been working on for the past few weeks: ever since the sc8 and the slayer came out, i've wanted one. the thing is i could never afford an sc8 because it just would not fit my poor budget and as for the slayer, I never want to deal with another traxxas again. still my interest in the corr/desert style trucks grew and grew so i started to look into an alternative. I did some searching around and found this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITn10JRmGe8 The guy used a converted 1/8 buggy and a slash body. spining off from this, i decided to buy a used hyper7 w/o engine - 150$ and slaped my old picco28 into it and got it runing. next I compared the proline desert rat and hardcore bodies and went with the hardcore body - 35$. I used a couple of savage body posts and extra hitec servo horns to mount the body. to mount the posts, i used longer screws - .40$ and screwed them directly to the shock towers. once the body was mounted i found that the ride hieght of the hyper7 was too low so i bent the limiters on the chassis to allow the arms more travel thus raising the buggy to the "just right" height[:D] once i got it all together i took it out and tore around for a few tanks...it was a blast! then i took it in and found that dirt, mud, grass, leaves, rocks, you name it got everywhere under the body and on the buggy. it was a mess!. to fight the messy issue i re-trimed the buggy body and mounted it under the hardcore body. i also made some dirt-blockers using the scraps from the hardcore body[:D] all together this project only cost me less than 200$, but i had my own engine. the end result is as you see below. I hope that this will inspire others to do the same or similar. and when you do, post it here![:D]
ORIGINAL: KRO LOL , I've been planning on doing for a while , gonna use an Ofna Ravager buggy , I got the Hardcore body also . Are you going too put on bumpers ? I am going too use the ones from an LST2 , another RCU member used the Slayer or Slash 's . [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8121465/tm.htm]BUGGY TO CORR CONVERSION[/link] He also used the wing mount for added support under the rear of the body . The last of the parts I was waiting on should be here today and I plan on starting it tonight . Too bad its getting cold here , I'll have to wait till next spring too kick some Slayer butt ! [:D]
thats what i'm talking about![:D] i'm waiting on a set of bumpers from a hyperST...i do have a couple of lst bumpers laying around though...hmmm. post pics if you can!
