RE: Official Speed Thread
ORIGINAL: Takedown
ORIGINAL: warheadforever
ORIGINAL: Takedown The 7700 isnt fair game for any motor really because it is total crap... The velineon would put up a fair fight for speed trails but torque its a straight win for the velineon.... LRP is a good company, I esspecially like the Sphere COMP ESC because I use to have one. Only downfall of it is that its sensored and underpowered.
I won't say it is junk, but it defiantly has a lack of torque. But it is good if you plan on running a 6 cell. [:D][:)]
I just think the CM36s series motors are junk because they are terribly inefficient, run to hot and they definately lack torque... If your going to spend that much money on a motor do some research and get something worth your time and money. Such as Medusa's V1 series 36-50's. Their Neu 1509 knockoffs for $85.
I don't know if you had a bad childhood experience with one of Castle's motors but you might want to take a read through [link=http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11633&highlight=7700&page=4]this[/link] thread, especially post 50, before saying the CM36 motors are junk again[8|][;)]

RE: DF-03 Gear Shreding - help! *pics*
The DI's gears and diffs are perfectly able to handle BL power if they are setup/ built right, the only time I had a problem with gears in my DI with a MM7700 was when the gearbox cover got loose.

RE: DF-03 Gear Shreding - help! *pics*
Check that the top rear gearbox cover is tight when you screw it on and that the holes in the bottom gearbox mount arn't stripped, if the gearbox cover is allowed to lift then that messes up the gear mesh, I had that problem with my DI.

A guy at the club my friend races at drives a Hyper 7 against other guys with Xray 808's, Losi 8ights and wipes the floor with them every week.

Should work well but where are the upper mounts going to go? From your drawings there aint going to be alot of room for them with the TC3 diffs....

RE: What you guys think?
Well this is what I have so far: I recon I should narrow it to make it more scale - what does anyone think? Yeh buying from the US is an awful lot cheaper, it isn't cost effective on the little things but anything over £15 your bound to get cheaper from the US. Customs get you sometimes but only if the order is over £18 or £40 if its marked as a gift. With customs its really hit or miss, I have got a huge box (containing a Micro T, a radio and a load of other stuff) from Hong Kong worth over £150 with no charge but I had to pay customs charges on a much smaller parcel from the US a few weeks ago. Order as much as you can from Tower Hobbies, excellent shop and I havn't had to pay customs on a single order from them yet[;)]

JESpares are good, so are Microtech racing, but if your are buying anything expenive buy from the US or Hong Kong - so much cheaper.

RE: How many people are running brushless conversions at your track?
ORIGINAL: Jerzferno We have 1 now and a 2 being built. Until they do something better with brakes, I think they are a waste. I lapped the electric this past Sunday. Just totally smoked him in the turns. I could slam on the brakes as he rolled through the turns and went wide. I didnt see any big advantage in the "power". Maybe too muc and he couldnt get the poswer to the track. Too much wheel spin. I was on his tail the whole time until I got to the tight turns and passed him. Eventually lapped him. he did have an advantage at one point on a short approach to a double jump. But thats only 5% of the track. It was an all nitor A Main. I am impressed with them, and who knows if enough show up, then my track will have their own class. I might get one? But, Id have to do something better for brakes.
He obviously dosn't have his brakes set up right/isn't a freat driver because electric motor braking is FAR more powerfull than mechanical brakes[;)]

The chassis is actually welded together[:D] and yes I made it myself. It has a Cen Mini Madness tranny and Tamiya Dark Impact arms, hubs etc. ATM it has a bodged together 15/19t motor (dont ask - I bent a motor can[;)][:)]) and 3S1P A123 cells. Over the summer it will hopefully get a nice BL system once my BL 1/8 buggy is done.
