RE: MRC THUNDER KING picture gallery
No you can't. Sorry. If you want to you can change engines with a pull start on it. you might have to change motor mounts and stuff like that. This is what I did so I can use a starter box. I will try to find the pictures to show you.

I have a clear body but I am keeping it. I was only able to find one. If I find another one I will paint it but keep one clear.

looks good. I am glad to see them in use. I think I will bring mine to our race track and see how it does. Am sure there will be some people that will have no idea what it is.

I have not had mine out in a long time. Been to busy racing and not bashing. But maybe when the warmer weather comes I might take it out. The last time I broken the metal spur gears! I was doing some crazy stuff around the house. It's all good.

all we need to do is come up with code words for when we want to list or sell something. LOL that would realy get them going. Of course I am just kidding.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
ORIGINAL: shadycuz I'm still having trouble with my RTX.  I had an airleak in the engine. When I brought the truck in from a highspeed run it would rev really high before going down to an idle. I took apart every thing and sealed the engine up. I also check the fuel tank by using bubbles and submerging under water. Everything seemed fine. Today was the first time I ran the truck since being sealed and it ran good. It no longer revs high after a high speed run. How ever I noticed a couple of air bubbles in the fuel line as i brought it in from WOT passes. After about 3 or 4 mins I noticed it leaned out really bad. It still almost had a full tank. It kept getting hotter and hotter so I kept richening the top end. Eventually I shut it off before it got too hot. When I went to shut it off I noticed the fuel line now had alot of tiny bubbles instead of the one or two medium bubbles. Any help would be apperciated. I'm new to rc. Should I replace the fuel lines? Should I replace or recheck the tank? How about the exahust manifold? My exhaust seems really loose could that have somthing to do with it? Thanks, Levi
Duratrax had a problem with the fuel tank and they way it's mounted. Go out and get a small tank and zip tie it to the suspension post and run it like that and see how she runs. She should run good.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
The engines are low on this chassis so there is not much air flow. I run a HPI k4.6 and have no problems. I will be installing a OS .30 in to get better bottom end. I had a small fan on top of my head and kept the temps low by 20 degrees. But is a pain to work around.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
ORIGINAL: shadycuz Hey every one. I just found this thread. I just bought a RTX-27. On the first run's it started easy but I noticed it was running hot, I richened it up but I didn't help. I realized after bringing it in from a highspeed pass that it was a air leak because the motor stayed reved up for 3 or 4 seconds before Idleing down. I took it apart earlier today and the only leak I could find (or I hope I didn't miss any) was on the pinch bolt. I sealed it up with some RTV and the carb neck body. I'm also going to stick the gas tank under water and blow into the lines and look for air bubbles. I'll report back tomorrow after the rtv has cured almost 24 hours. Thanks, Levi
what % of nitro are you running? put in a extra head shim or two when you break her in. It will help keep the temps down.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
ORIGINAL: bushhiker Yes, I am so there are two inserts a yellow one which is the smallist and a red one that is larger. Can you run it with out an insert? Also Do you think I should go 16 tooth I want a wheelie but i dont care if it barelly wheelies or it almost flips.  thanks
well you can run it with out the insert but you will go threw fuel quickly, as for the clutch bell the stock is 15 but try the 16 first. with the engine sitting low it does not get much air flow so don't try to kill it yet with the 17 tooth. put the 16 in and check on temps and how she sounds. if the temps are good and you want more speed then put in the 17.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
are you talking about the inserts for the carb? if so they are for tuning you can use the smaller one and save on fuel or put the bigger one in and rip like mad. with the 17 tooth clutch bell make sure you have enough room to get a good gear mesh. you don't want the clutch bell to be to tight on the spur or you will burn everthing up.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
ORIGINAL: bushhiker I just bought an axial .28, a savage 3 shoe clutch, and a axial 17 tooth clutch bell. Is 17 too high to do a wheelie or should I have gotten a 16. I have Pro-line Big-joe tires if it makes any difference. thanks
the smaller the clutch bell the quicker take off you will have. so a lower number teeth will make the truck more wheelie happy.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
I have the K4.6 in one of my warheads. It's ok but drop down to a 14 clutch bell from Ofna. It will help with better take off. With this engine you don't have to worry about blowing your trans. You can use the roto start but will need to grind down the engine mount in two places.

cool, I have the foam bumper and the body post. We have to use street tires cause they don't wan the oval to get torn up. All I need is a body. I had found a few on Tower. I am thinking of an O.S engine but we have to keepit under four ports. I will have to take a pic of what I have.

RE: Dirt Oval Racing Thread
There is a club that I am starting to race with Dirt Runners in N. Jersey. They are starting a 1/8 Late Model nitro class. So I am taking a Ofna Ultra GT and converting it. Does anybody have any tips you can give me. This will be my first time running oval. I also will be running a Losi 1/10 Slider. I never liked Dirt Oval when I was younger but it's changing in my later years.

It's been a very long time since I did anything on my Warhead or Savhead. I just put the LRP in my Savhead I just hope the rears can handle the power. I know the trans can since it's the Savage.

No savage gears wont fit into the truck. You can custom anything into the chassis but it's alot of work. Your stuck with what Duratrax gives you.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
ORIGINAL: emcobra Newbie nitro problems Ok so I was one of the many that picked up the rtx for 169.00 as tower was discontinuing them. I have been in the hobby for 15 + years but always smaller electric stuff. Decided even with all the mixed issues this truck would be a good run around the yard truck for the price. I have put just about 1 gallon of fuel thru the truck followed break-in procedures etc. noticed that the rear seal was leaking. Followed the many links and sealed using hi-temp rtv. Let set for 48 hours took it out for first run. I can say it started faster then ever before. 2-3 seconds on the roto bang it was started. Previous was much much longer to get things going. But then after letting it get warmed up would not get upto speed. Adding throttle very slow it would rev slightly and stall. I reset the Hi and low needles to factory and tried a few times every time would start fast idle well but nothing beyond. That went on for 20-30 min I gave up. Next day I went out and it wont start for Anything. I’ve tried 2 glow plugs, 2 glow ignitors, in all cases they glow hot. Primed by blowing a little in the fuel line going to the exhaulst till the fuel gets to the carb. Nothing, gotten to the point it floods. Taken out the glow plug turned it over upside down to let it set 30-45 min came back started from scratch nothing. Any thoughts ?!?
LOL I feel your pain. Try this, check to make sure you did not get dirt in the carb and check the fuel tubing for leaks and or dirt. If the engine is getting flooded lean out the low speed needle. Try to start it. If need be have the glow plug loose when trying to start it. If it does start and run check the exhaust and see how much fuel is coming out. If it's spitting then lean the needle.

RE: Anyone own a Warhead?
ORIGINAL: xirtic With the end of parts availability coming sooner rather than later, has anybody found any cross-compatible parts for the Diff gears? Has anybody looked at Savage gears as a possible replacement? I ordered a spare set of both large and small gears to keep me running, but I am sure that that supply will soon disappear. I did get an RTX transmission...so I am stronger there....and I have spare CVDs and Hexes. I also have spare arms, bulkheads, body mounts, and bumper set. Since going brushless, most of the other parts do not matter. I am just very curious about the diff gears.
This question was asked a few monthes ago and I was going to check cause I have both trucks. As of now I have not check. I have been re-doing my workshop and have all my stuff all over the place so I have not had the time. I will check this week and let you guys know. I have a problem when my work shop is not clean and just right I have a hard time working on my cars. So give me a few days and I will check for you guys.
