3s lipo? 3c i've never seen and would explode on a brushed setup. for those precations are really gear it down to a 16 to 18 tooth pinion.

brushless is great. but there is no problem with brushed stuff if you take care of it. it's the drivers choice. it's all good. the mini hobbywing motors and speedcontrolw work really well in the lunch box. like these: http://www.nitrorcx.com/ezrun-brushless-system-combo-b1-w35a-esc.html this was my first bl system. if you want to stay brushed: http://www.nitrorcx.com/51c00-03018.html these work great. i run mine months on end. no issues. this is the 03018 speed control from hsp. they work really well and hold up far better than the tamiya's.

the sc-15 speed control only handles 15t-17t motors. it can handle doubles alright, but thosemust be 15-17. i don't know why. i've smoked several on 27t's and 19t's. so stay within that range. the redcat speed control handles 540 motors down to 23t,and ds, and down to 19t in 550 motors.

straghtening it isn't a bad thing as i find money can be an issue at times, however, those are a steel- aluminum aloy. every time you bend it, it does get weeker. eventuallly just replace it. but bend it back and turn the boys loose! you enjoying it with them?

RE: Racing my tornado epx pro
no it smooths it out alot. it's not the soft nes that takes out the bounce it's the springs, if springs are out of the question negative preload is good as well as a thicker oil. the stock shocks arn't completely filled and are not a consistant weight. if you would like to see my video go ahead and watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urLscmDq0Vg&list=UUHWJiwt79MZxLGNXIPHnN0A&index=7&feature=plcp while i'm using the touring car shocks these shocks are nearly identical (other than size and the matrial and relpacable o-ring seals) to the tornados (and the volcano's and the vortex, and the drift, and caldera's, and traxxas "ultra style" goes on and on) so this should help explain alot. if i left anything out. please ask, i am more than willing to help.

RE: Volcano EXP PRO
nitrosportsandrunner gives you a great 3s pack. it's a monster and your boys may have too much on their hands, don't get me wrong it will handle it, but the motor will run hot at that pont so gearing down or dropping the motor timeing (programed at the factory at 15degrees) this is done with a programing card, or with the button on the side of the speed control. if they want POWAH give them that pack, you may have a little more laundry to do when they get back. it becomes a 1/10 savae flux on 3s lipo (trust me i've fixed them enough, someone shapped thiers in half, many broken bumpers and several hubs, keep in mind we sell hundreds of these a year) my two packs of choice are: http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-40c-5000-2s1p-hardcase-direct.html and http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-sl3300-2s1p-40c-2222-hardcase.html the gens ace has more runt time and power. but the skylipo is more than enough. i've owned mine for 5years. now it's nitro cousin is also siting on my shelf

with removing your battery holds it's very easy to drop in any standard 2s lipo pack. i love my "Gens Ace" 5000mah 40c pakcs and my skylipo 3300mah 40c packs. simply remove two of the battery mounts with their screws from the bootom of the chassis and your done.

the best thing is the upgraded plate, and tires for either of the twisters. jb weld does add some strength to the braces and other parts, the hpi blitz or firestorm belcranks (strc or hpi ) aluminum ones are great choies for hop ups for track use and durablility of the whole front end goes up. i've never had too much of a breakage problem with the tronado, 8 years with it, and all kinds of obnoxious, unmentionable torture to it. and i've never even broken a suspention arm.

RE: Racing my tornado epx pro
mine was coverted to brushless 5 years ago when they first released it in brushless, they discontinued the brushed version years ago. it was replaced with the groundpounder and the epx drift. move the rear links in and the rear roll rate will allow the rears to roll tward the center contact patch and more control under "power on" handling. the wing should be moved to the top point, while this is going to be slightly slower it will allow for better hard acceleration and corner exit and entry. in the air it does also help a bit. the weight isn't one of my favorite ways of doing it. but it works and it's reliable. i see you have the XTG, that's my favorite stadium truck for th money, i've won 2 races with that. you enjoying it?

RE: Racing my tornado epx pro
yes, it was my first one. 27t brushed "mabuchi" sealed can, 6 cell nimh, blue body wih arrow swoops a.m. (no longer sold) yeah, so much love. gotta oil the shocks, that's a must. i like 60wt oil with no preload in the shock, and none in the pring if your using the stock ones ( team durango springs fit) as for the weight i do use lipo packs, and move them not i don't even stablize them with foam after so many failled attempts, this taught me about air throttle control, peg that throttle wide open if it's nosing down, just be carefull not to land on it, (stripped gears, bent dogbones, damaged diffs, and broken motor shafts arn't uncommon with this behaviour. get it out). i like a more drifty feel, but with tracks that are covered in dust that's unavoidable, so i needed control, i toed it out a bit and put -2 in the rear and -3 (both camber) in the front. rpm sells a great camber gauge, it's a racers best buddy. these are my first things that everyone who wants to zip around a track need to at least try. anything else i can be of assistance with you today?

RE: Sensored Brushless ESC Question
99% of all brushless esc's can handle a sensorless motor, i only had one that couldn't. if your in the U.S. or Canada, ROAR states that off-road stock is a 17.5 t motor with no timeing, they can tell because ESC's these days have what's called a "blinky mode". the esc will flash a light and let people know at a glance that your not cheeting by using timing. on road is stated to be a 21.5t i prefer my Hobbywing XERUN systems, as they are ROAR leagal and they don't cost me an arm and a leg. here's a 17.5t for you, and below that is a 21.5. all hobbywing systems can be linked to a computor to upload software, program and the whole 9 yards. http://www.nitrorcx.com/07e-combo-js5.html http://www.nitrorcx.com/07e-combo-js6.html

RE: Slash LCG kit which one?
i have a big trust in strc. that'd be my go. i love the rustler for the most part and if you must not have a rustler as you have stated, go with the anza chassis, it's used all over localy here (i live in the least populated U.S. state of wyoming, our capital city only has 32000 people, 18 and over) it make the slash comprable to the blitz (i love, race and bash this truck) or the kyosho ultima sc (best performance sc on the market today, at it's realease 3 national events were destroyed when it shattered track times) the slash is a great car all around, a hand full of tweeks is all it needs. and the anza chassis delivers.

RE: Lipo
not so true on the "get what you pay for". i will never again buy a thunder power. blew 2 100 dollar packs in 1 month each because a cell failed. gens ace are cheeper and perform better, 10 months and they haven't given me any issues. last friday we had a race, the castle guys pulled off the track at 250 degrees and my hobbywing pulled off at 224. i am well aware of the 160 safe mark, and casltes 180 safe mark, new track and new dirt, nobody new we'd be running hot. castles are great, don't get me wrong, and if you're a thunder power guy, do it. this is all about having fun.

RE: Lipo
godlenduff, i stated eirlier that the "c" rating does effect run time. if the motor doesn't need to pull the amperage from the c rating then it will last longer as it doesn't need the amperage to cover everything and thus resulting in a cooler battery and a longer run.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11018878
RE: Lipo
droping in c rating will decrease your runtime as well, due to the fact that your systems of choise are a very high draw. the motor is what pulls amperage not the esc. so being that the pack would be lower in c rating wit would have to draw more Mah to cover up the amperage that the c rating can't suply causing heat and lower run times. your 2200kv motor will want to pull around 120 amps once it's leveld out on 4s, on 6s it's going to want 220ish. so getting a pack to run this kind of power is important.

RE: Lipo
okay spo heres my laymens terms definition for lipo terminology, we will relate everything to water MaH: this is the abreviated form of "millionth ampres hours" basicly the more you have the longer you run, this is your resivour of water volts: this is the amout of force behind your water in the pipe, "c" rating: this is your pipe and how much pressure it can pump through at any given time. so if your wanting to race and want to find out if your packs can handle your bl system you can actually find how many continuious amps you can drain from that pack at one time or a peak current for however long your pack can sustain it. take you mah x your "c" / 1000 so with my favotire packs for 1/8 i use 5000mah x 40c / 1000= a continueus discrage rate of 200 amps at any time most batteries have a burst current of double so my burst current is 80c for 10 seconds, to find my top draw i would take 5000mah x 80c / 1000 and get a burst current of 400 amps for 10 seconds. bl motors have a peak in power once there done accelerating and then they drop in amperage and sustain the degrease untill they level out to keep a constant speed. lipo packs will swell up and get hot under discrage, as a racer 80 degrees F is perfect. i am betting the best performance my battery can give without damaging it. swelling happens when you draw too much and can cause the pack to explode. so watch this.

i got my first rc car 8 years ago, it was the tornado epx (27t brushed sealed can mabuchi style motor, A.M. radio, 1800MaH NIHM 6cell with tamiya concectors, dogbones the whole 9 yards) it was model #6 on the box, i got a mt a few years later and it was a huge number to where they had been adding letters into it. i still have it, it's bl and 2.4Ghz now, but it's never going to leave.
