RE: Wow, winter must be setting in!
Three projects on the go this winter: 1) I picked up a second hand Tamjets F-16 that had a landing gear/bulkheads removing encounter with the Fresno landscape. The bird is back on wheels now and should remaiden in a couple of weeks. After getting it dialed in, I'll strip off the Edwards scheme and repaint it with a different scheme. I'm also planning on adding the ordnance package. 2) Fine tuning a YA Starfire. I'm friggin with the nose gear placement and length to get it to stick to the ground. After that's done, I'll install those fancy new small inlets from Tam, strip off the plain-Jane paint scheme and replace it with something fancier. 3) I found a great scale paint scheme for a Gripen (2009 Tiger Meet) and have a two-tone grey kit waiting for some love and attention.

RE: JAS-39 Gripen Owners/Build Thread
The Czech Air Force sent a Gripen to the 2009 Tiger Meet and I found a few photos on the web. As we all know, there aren't very many "jazzy" scale paint schemes for the Gripen but this one looks pretty good. I particularly like the tiger stripes on the wing tanks. I've got another NIB 1/7th scale Gripen painted in the two-tone grey scheme and figure I'll whip out the air brush and jazz it up a bit. Incidentally, I had damaged one of the side frames for a retract unit in a less than stellar landing earlier in the year. I had a lot of difficulty trying to get a replacement retract unit from the kit supplier but found that I was able to buy retract parts direct from Air Power. $26 for a spare set of frames and it took less than a week for the parts to arrive from Taiwan. Here's a link to the retracts: [link=http://www.airpowernet.com/twe3/index.php?cPath=4_59]http://www.airpowernet.com/twe3/index.php?cPath=4_59[/link] Regards, Jim

RE: suggestions for a sports jet for a p70
I've got a P-70 in a Starfire; had it on radar at 178mph (don't know if you'd call that "really fast") even with the huge intakes. I'll be installing the Tam intakes which should get more speed out of it. Of course, a Bandit with a P-70 is a whole lotta fun too though not as fast as one with a P-120.

RE: Jet Flying Sites in Vero Beach Area???
You're about halfway between the Remote Control Association of Central Florida (see http://www.rcacf.com/) and the Mako R/C Club in Miami. If you go to the RCACF, be SURE to stop in at Graves R/C (www.gravesrc.com). Unfortunately, you just missed Jets Over the Cape which was a couple of weeks ago. Ryan and Brian, You can buy kero and oil at Falcon Field which is on the route between Camelback Mtns and Superstition Airpark. Take 202 Eastbound and exit Southbound on N Greenfield Rd, turn East on E McKellips Rd and turn into the airport. There is a self-serve pump at Falcon Executive Aviation 480-832-0704 which is located next to the control tower. For more info, see www.airnav.com, airport code KFFZ Regards, Jim

RE: Sun Valley Jets (Ron Long's Bad A$$ Jet show)
Ron & Tony, It was an awesome weekend at the First Annual SVF "Big Baller" Jet Rally. Kathy and I had a great time. Excellent flying, great company, incredible jets, and an excellent dinner. Many thanks to all the sponsors for their support and to all the folks (especially Vincy) who contributed their time/effort to the event. The Firebird was unbelievable especially with Shui on the sticks, Henry did a magnificent job on the A-10, Brian's work of art F-84, Lowell's wing-swinging Tornado (and banana bread), Shannon's perseverence with the Raptor paid off (great job), Shawn's F-16 maiden today, Jason doing the VT-thang with the MiG-29, Yuri's incredible night-time display, Joey's amazing fleet, Ian's F-20 (thanks Dave for lending the Titan), Dougie's sizzling Bandit low passes and laying the low smoke with Ugly Betty by day and cooking up the carne by night. Thanks also to F-Dan and Dave for all the spotting help. Great times with great folks. Thanks to all!!! Regards, Jim
