RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Got quiet after that post. Let me see if I can go over it all as I'm not sure where you are having issues. On the moter there is a round pin (shaft) that sticks out with flat area towards the end. The Pinion needs to be pulled up to this area where you can only see a couple milimeters of the shaft (someone better than me could give the exact amount). Position the gear so that the set screw will screw down on this flat area. Before you tighten the screw make sure you apply the blue loctice to it. I did have an issue with the included allen wrench not being up to the task of removing or tightning that screw and I did end up purchasing some decent tools to work on it.

Just got one of these batteries for my XS: Eco Power I also just purchased the T Bone bumpers and skid plate because one session out in the cold I managed to chip off a chunk of the frame from under the truck.

I guess I should use correct terminology wasn't paying attention to what I was saying there. My screws arn't striped at the head I just have a few screws that won't completly tighten anymore they get snug but they don't tighten like the one next to it.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
I'm a complete newbie to the RCs the XS was the first truck I have purchased and I have been very pleased so far it has ran great for me. I have put about 12 packs through it and I have only ran in to the following: One upright broke this was due to a complete newbie driving it and basically made the truck cartwheel on its wheels down the road way to fast. Some screws are striping this is because I overdo everything including tightening things down. The horizontal bars that the body attaches to broke but after looking at the design of course they broke and will just stay broken. The other thing I did was reroute the antenna cable so that the rear axle wouldn't catch it. After I did that the plastic antenna cover on the outside broke off once when it flipped over and I noticed I only had about 1 inch of plastic on the outside as well as 1 inch of antenna cable so I just put a little plastic cap over that and it works / looks better than the long plastic tube that wasn't doing anything. My drive cups haven't been wearing yet although I have kept them greased up. I am running stock on everything even the servo which I don't currently have a problem with and that is probably because I don't know how good it can be lol.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
I got my truck out and running this weekend. Had to bind the radio and setup the fail safe, on a note of the fail safe the manual I got was wrong as it stats during the setup to pull the brake on the remote which then basically sets up the truck to go into full reverse when it looses contact with the radio. I just had to not pull on the brake during the setup and leave it in neutral then the fail safe worked and put the truck in neutral if it lost contact Didn't have any problems ran great though I don't have my heat gun to test temperatures but it wouldn't have been a good reading as it was 14 degrees outside and 1/4 inch of ice on the truck lol. The roads and ditches I was running it up and down were covered in snow and it plowed through it all until I got it high centered in to deep

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Just a few notes and a question as I have started looking at my new truck I pulled the motor out to look at the Slipper and It appears tight already. The spring was completely compressed and when I went to tighten it a little it seemed to almost move the nut at an angle rather than straight down. I assume this was because it really shouldn't be tightened anymore. I backed it out back to where it was. Its sometimes hard for me to figure out how tight things are as my snug fit is a lot of peoples tight and my tight fit is the head of the screw broken off. [:D] I also got into the pinion and tried to loosen it with the stock allen wrench and completely striped the allen wrench apart. (hope I didn't damage the screw) it appears to already have loctite or something on it and secured in there very well. I will have to get a set of proper tools to work on it.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
One this I was curious about after I had a look over on the Savage XS is the battery box isn't water proof. If you ran this through water or puddles at all isn't there a risk of water getting into the deans connector joint and shorting it out? Also had a question on tightening the slipper have you guys found that it responds best with it tightened down? or loosened a little?

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Just got done reading this small novel and have gotten some good information out of it. I'm getting a Savage Flux XS for Christmas and so far it before I take it out I need to: Check the Antenna path and secure it so it doesn't get hung up Check the ESC settings to make sure the voltage cut off is set Check to make sure the the safety cut off is setup with the controller. (forget the exact words or what it was called) I have two questions if anybody could point a complete newbie in the right direction: On my batteries should I do a break in on them as running them down to just about 50% capacity before I run then down to the 20% cut off? I have read a bit into the lipo batteries and how to properly take care of them. Do you guys have any recommended reading on the parts of the trucks. The majority of the time on the forums I was a bit lost on what people were talking about but I got a general idea. Thanks, Ryan
