RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
I just got it deliverd today and i cant believe how small it is.My Scorpion 60 amp commander speed control came also and another one of my Castle creations ice 50 speed controls.I cant belive how small the scorpion 60 amp speed control is either. I wanted to ask,the brown and red wire in the reciever wire bundle coming from my scorpion speed control looks like something ground against it as it the wire hit the spinning mototr or a soldering iron hit it and on the red wire the insulation wore down just about to the wire as i can see a trace of the silver wire. This came like this from the factory.Do you guys think this is normal manufacturing? or what would you do? i got this speed control for a discount of $100 because it was the last one and it was sealed. In the origional package. It looks like it hit a spinning motor as we probally all have had that

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
For electronics for my Miniature aircraft x-cell furion 450 i got a Futaba gy502 gyro and few speed controls for all my helis.I got a Scorpion 60 amp commander 6 cell.I also got some Castle creations ice 50 amp speed controls. Also a Futaba s9257.The furion will have the gy520 and the futaba s9257,scorpion commander 60.Also could i use a 3cell lipo on the 6 cell or can you only use a 6 cell on that? dumb question i know but?? Was $140 for the Futaba gy520 good investment or was i ok with a Detrum gy48v???

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
What i just found was that the hobbyking YEP 45 amp sc is 63g...the castle creations ice 75 is 56.7g...and the castle creations ice 75 lite is 28.9g....maby the ice 75 lite would be the best choice since its much liter than even a 45 amp sc that is on the lower end of the amp rating for a 450.while a 50 amp is overkill??? but then again even the normal metal body ice 75 is liter than the 45 amp esc i have.So even that normal 75 ice esc is ok.

is a 75 amp speed control too big for 450 heli?
I just bought my first high end sc for a mini titan flybarless heli.I chose an Castle creations ice 50 but my motor is a turnegy heli drive sk3 competition series, 3 align ds415m digital servos and the fbl unit. Now the info on the motor says it draws 50 amps max.Now some guys im talking too say that could push this $86 esc.I spent that kind of money for bullet proof. Is it insane to slap the ice 75 on the heli instead??? i have the store holding the order until i get a pro oppinion. Thanks

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Yeah man something is not right here.I checked out a web site with castle creation speed controls for 450 class helies, and it showed the best 450's there are like the furion 450, beam 450 ,rave 450 , trex and etc....with the best most expensive brushless motors like Hacker, Scorpion, Align and so on and it eaven mentioned pinion gear setups that varied.Witch mentioned they were extreme 3D setups and the only speed control mentioned was the Ice 50 and ice 50 lite. Then when i got to the 500 class helis is where the Ice 75 and Ice 100 were mentioned.I have a $26 motor....lol...now i learned alot from this post.I left 2 messages with heli direct and told them to give me the ice 75 but i have to call and confirm it first so i really need help.I am not going to waste $86 on a sc that is good enough if $101 can get me security.what should i do? is the ice 75 to big for a 450? is that the route a pro would take.Or would they go with the 50 to keep weight down and get a replacement free if it blows, and the 75 amp is good for someone who cares about $100 and the heli will fly fine with some added weight but much added security?

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
yeah goggles i ran the head and tail with no blades on the bench.I bought the same turnegy heli drive sk3 competition series motor for my Furion 450, my mini titan E325 v2 flybarless, and Beam E4.On the back of the motors box it says it pulls 50 amps max.The speed controls i bought are Hobbywing platinum 40 or 45 amp, Yep 45, and this Castle creations ice 50.Should i change the order to a ice 60 or 75 or what ever they make?.Will the 450 get off the ground with a 75 amp ESC.I need to know quick before its too late and they ship.I thought i was doing good with this good cheap motor, but did not think it was too much for an $85 50 amp ESC??

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
man i thought a 50 amp sc on a 450 was allready overkill? a 75 is kind of big aint it?.Does it matter what the cell burst rate is to feed it a certain amount of amps? i ran a 3s 11.1 volt 20c battery through this hobby king yep 45 amp sc through this turnegy heli drive sk3 competition series 3600kv competition series motor for two full charges at full throttle non stop until the battery was at a safe cutoff level and the speed control nor the motor got warm.Is that because the batts a 20c..? i did not try my pulse ultra 45c and 35c batterys yet though.I orderd an Casle creations ice 50amp sc last night. Are you saying that it cant handle a turnegy sk3 motor? i should have got an 75 amp?? that sc was $85.Also i did get good electronics for all of them.Futaba s9257, beast sx,castle creations,Align.I was excited about buying these ice 50 sc's that really ps me off.

I dont know that yet.I got the fbl unit doing what i think its supposed to as of now.I started building a Logo 700 extreme to take a brake. It was a bit confusing at first as far as the gyro correction setting What is a good 450 speed control a scorpion 45 amp or castle creations ice 50 amp.I have a Turnegy sk3 heli drive 3600kv motor that says it pulls 50 amps max,is a 40 or 45 amp sc ok in that case or does that mean i need a 50 amp

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Ok i used the copy of the manual and i got it right i think. With the radio set to 90 degree i servo.I have all three servos moving up and down with the throttle stick.Looking at the heli from the back if you tilt it forward, the swash moves back.If you roll it to the left then the swash counters to the right and vice versa, and then levels out when the heli is back on level surface. Now i just have to lower the collective pitch throw because at full throttle the swash goes high enough that if i give some forward elevator the anti rotation pin hits the top inside of the anti rotation bracket. Now this sets up like a typical flybar heli in that with the throttle centerd, the 2 arms that are there are 90 degrees correct? what i did find though is that with the swash centerd the anti rotation pin is towards the top of the anti rotation bracket not in the center is this ok? all the pitch rods and servo rods are setup per the manual, although i know its a rough measurement to get you in the right area. But then again?

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
yeah i i plug a servo in the fbl and move the aileron. The servo moves slower than it does if i grab the fbl unit and move it around. The servo also returns back to center kind of slow.If i plug the servo into the receiver direct it move fast as i move the stick and if i push forward elevator for instance and let go of the stick the servo will snap back to center with the stick snapping back to center. You know what i mean? with the servo plugged into the fbl unit the servo moves slower on my command and eaven slower on return to center'?? so the fbl has a problem'?

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
ok so its normal for the servo to return to center at a delayed rate when the stick is moved and released.I cant understand how i would get fast response during cyclic command. Also is swash mix still used to control pitch movement up and down? since the radio is set to 90 degree 1 servo

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Well i dropped another $100 tonight.I decided to grab a Futaba s9257 ep heli servo for the tail of my Beam E4 fbl instead of the Turnegy s306g.As well as a Pulse 2250 3s 11.1 45c battery.I am going to use the tgy 306 for the tail of my hk500cmt instead. So my setup is 3 Align Ds415m for cyclic, yep 45A sc,Turnegy helidrive sk3 competition series motor, Copter x cx3x1000 fbl unit, and Futaba S9257 ep rudder servo.Hopefully this is my first good setup

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Wow, my idea of a flybar unit was basically a gyro for all 3 cyclic servos to help you take control of the machine.Since you are losing the flybar witch is a source of balance, and also lose all that weight in the rotor head. The machine is much quicker in its movement and its drifting,as well as sensative as to your corrections. So i assumed that the fbl unit initializes itself while the heli is in a set position and then as you fly it the fbl unit will cause the heli to stay in a general area instead of speeding off in any direction. I also would think that if you get into trouble that you could kind of release the stick and the heli would re balance itself. It sounds like a fbl heli with a good setup could be more stable than a flybar machine. A;so is it normal for the servo to kind of slowly return to center when i move the aileron to the left and then let the stick go? it seems that yours were doing that in the video??? but there also seems to be a delay when i move the cyclic stick. But if i move the fbl unit then the servo moves with lightning speed? How would you make fast 3d moves with the delay?

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
I figured out how to get to each mode.I wathced a video of this guy programming a Tarot fbl unit and was told its the same as the cx 3x1000.I learned that 1 or any number of flashes followed by a series of blinks from a yellow light means you select and modify each parimeter. Like you press the program button and all 3 led lights on the unit will blink from 1 to 6 times and then there follows a blink of a yellow light, and as you move the cyclic stick left or right you increase or decrease the blinks therefore selecting a certain value per parimeter. There is 2 different programing systems, one is enterd if you hold the rudder stick one way during bootup or initialization. Then there is another programing system if you hold the aileron stick one way during bootup. Each programming system is used to adjust different areas in the gyro. My only trouble now is that although the servo moves lightning fast when i move the FBL unit around. The servo seems to have some delay if i manually move the servo by moving the rudder or aileron sticks. There is also a delay in the servos return to center after i move the aileron or any of the sticks one way and then release the stick. Instead of the servo quickly centering back, the servo returns to center kind of slow.Is this normal? If i grab the FBL unit and move it around fast then the servo will move with full throws and and fast and powerfull. If i use the transmitter sticks to move the servo, then its slower.Maby it is moving the same amount but its much tamer and slowly returns to center apon the release of the sticks? Now the manual shows that the 2 reciever wires coming from the top of the fbl unit are the rudder and gyro gain control and they go to channel 4 and 5.Then the manual shows the bunch of wires labeled pitch/ele/ail splitting to 2 single wires. One is a single white wire that says pitch so i plugged it into channel 6/batt on my optima 6 and then another single red wire that i sent to channel 2 and last but not least a set of black/red/black wires that i sent to channel 1. I also set my Aurora9 to 90 degree single servo, but have to wait until my ds415ms come to set eveything up on the heli. This is weird in that this FBL unit has to control everything? it is controlling the ccpm mix and everything huh? i am supposed to go into programming mode to make sure all the servo rise and fall together and everything? And i set the FBL unit for the type of swash plate i have? 120 degree? this thing has alot of weight on its hands. Now i understand why they can go for $800.I hope this $41 unit takes care of my $240 airframe.

Yeah man i am having a hard time here.I am reading the copter x directions and basically it says to enter programe mode and i did but the way the manual is written is no good.I am able to change the light configurations but the manual seems incomplete as to what each combo does.Besides my fbl unit came out of the package with half the sticker torn off and its missing. Would the cx programmer box make a big difference?

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Oh ok well today and $70 later i orderd 3 Align DS415m servos...lol...and then of course i read all the bad reviews about them.Just like everything else. Before i buy the product i look and find good reviews,as in this ds415m servo.Everyone was recommending them as some of the best servos in general.Although as soon as i buy them i read bull####.I have 3 of them for the cyclic and one Turnegy s306g for the tail.I read a comparison of this turnegy servo compared to the align ds410 and the turnegy was said to be better, but the ds415 is still an align product so im sure its fine. Im not sure about this FBL setup though. You say to set my aurora 9 as a 1 servo swash but the Beam e4 manual says to set it as 120?? could you give me some instruction? Normally i plug the SC into channel 3 and 1 and 2 are the ail and elevator and channel 6 is pitch but what now? I found the manual for the cx1000 fbl unit but i dont know what to set the unit for the servos im using. I have alot of building to do for this Beam e4 advance. It is completly in pieces but the quality is unreal. It is quite a bit higher than my Align trex 450pro.I cant wait until my Miniature aircraft excel furion 450 comes

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Yeah i searched and found tha manual but that manual is not enough. Its talking about settings for servos that have a certain not speed but something that i dont even know what it means.I tried searching online for this term but came up with nothing so a forum is the only way. Something about 1520us analog? if the servo i am using has this rating?? Tower pro MG90s.It is funny that when i first started to build my cx450 pro.I was told that the tp mg90 is a good budget servo and it is as it has no slop at all and survived a couple hard crashes.Anyway, when i went to buy it i found an mg90s and the mg90. When i asked what the difference was and witch to get,i read that the mg90s is the digital version of the servo. So now that i am building the beam 450 fbl and read that digital servos are needed here,i thought that the mg90s digital would fit the bill.Until i bought them and after doing so am reading all over the net now that both servos are in fact analog...lol...oh the internet. There is also not a trace of that previous info saying that the mg90s is digital...lol...

Ok you said the cyclic servos plug into channel 1,2,3....and then you said that the ESC plugs into channel 3? normally i plug the speed control into channel 3,and the aileron and pitch servo into channel 1,and 2. Channel 4 i plug in the gyro and then i plug the plug the gyro control plug into channel 5.Ok so again how does the copter x fbl unit wire?

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Is there any special way to plug in the cyclic servos for flybarless helis? i bought the copter x fbl unit since after i bought the Miniature aircraft excel furion and Beam e4 v2 fbl,i am low on cash.I watched some setup instructions for some unti that was supposed to be related to mine and it shows the guy installing the aileron, elevator and pitch servos in channel 1,2 and 3???? where normally the throttle is channel 3. Also i just installed the servos in my HK500CMT,and channel 1 is aileron, channel 2 is elevator, and channel 6 is pitch. Now i normally as i look at the heli from the back to the front, assign the servo on the right as the aileron and the servo on the left as pitch, but i was not able to get the system to work until i made the left servo the aileron....is this ok? and do you know why it was like that? i tried reversin one servo or another or reversing one or more servos on the swash mix and nothing.

RE: Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
Yeah 2 fridays ago was my first ever hover and from there i was doing 2 battery packs every day until today when i transitioned into forward flight.I took the machine around the football field and did some large figure 8ts so im coming allong. I came into some money and wanted to get one top end machine and after looking around i decided to get a Beam E4 v2 FBL,and a Miniature aircraft Furion 450.I did lots and lots of research as to what was the best 450 and all that came up besides the trex was the Beam and the Excel...with both the Beam and Ecxel taking the win.Do to the engineering and world class machine work. My fathers 34 year experience as a machinest backed those 2 up as being true to there reputation so i decided to treat my self to both of them since i am going back to the 3rd Ranger battalion in November so i figured i might as well live while i have the chance. They will both be shelf trophys...trust me i am not flying them any time soon,i just wanted to build them and have fun doing it as well as own them.Landing seems to be the harder part now. What about the corona 939mg? also i just found out that although before when i looked at the tp90 and found the tp90s.I asked what the difference was and was told many places that the tp90s is the digital version of the same servo.Last night after buying them i read that it is fact now a digital servo so i dont know what im going to do now? do i need digitals for the FBL? PS...I am listening to you.I learned CCPM set on a forum mostly due to you and ATV's help.I learned it so good that i got the heli hovering in one spot with very little effort......i got the idea of the carectoristics of the ccpm system in that while i can hover hands off with my fixed pitch models. You are constantly making corrections to keep these helis where you want them but i am doing good.As far as the 250 goes i did try and fly it anyway do to the fact that i could fit it in a small room since my local field was always being used for baseball, and just as you said would happen did.$$$$$$$$$$......The 250 vibrates alot though. While the rotor head spools up the head wobbled and then become true under speed but the vibration caused my canopy to act like a grinder and grind away the covering on the battery and the canopy grinded the landing gear.I took the head off and cheched the shaft and it spins really streight but once the rotor hub is added it starts to wobble i dont know if its the center top rotor hub or what.

I need help with my erazor 450 pro carbon edition 2.4ghz
I am having a problem with the radio.I have the dip switches set from left to right.Up up down down and the rest up.I have the very front servo plugged into channel 1 marked elevator.I have the back upper servo plugged into the aux 1 channel for pitch, and the bottom rear servo plugged into channel 2 aileron. The trouble is that i am able to get all 3 servos to rise and fall as i push the throttle stick up and down.I am able to get the elevator working correct in that if i push the elevator stick forward the front servo dips while the 2 rear servos lift so the elevator is working correctly. If i give right aileron the servo to the left dips down and the servo on the right lifts up,so the aileron is working in reverse. The only way i can fix this is if i mess with some dip switches i can get the aileron and elevator working correctley but all three servos no longer rise up and down together 2 of them might go one way and the other goes another way. I figured that i should just be able to reverse the aileron channel to fix the swash from tilting to the left if i give a right stick movement but all that does is cause the 2 rear servos to lift up and down together instead of going opposite ways to tilt the swash left and right???? Is there any way to adjust any swash mix by way of reversing a channel or something? could i please have some directions?? What i was able to do was with the dip switches on the radio set from left to right.........down down down....down down down up....down down down.I have the aileron working in the correct way as well as the elevator......but all three servos move down when i bring the throttle stick up so the pitch is reversed......lol.....and i cant fix it

Tower pro mg90s good for 450 flybarless?
I used tower pro mg90 metal gear servos for my copter x 450 pro. After learning that it was a recommended cheap budget 450 servo. Now i just orderd a Beam E4 v2 advanced flybarless edition and was wondering if the tower pro mg90s digital version of this same servo would work for a flybarless heli since a flybarless heli needs faster digital servo??

RE: How to apply corrections to transmitter stick fly ccpm helicopter
Hey guys i cant thank you enough.Today i had my first ever hover on a ccpm heli.I was stupid for going out today in the first place do to 20mph wind here in gloucester mass but i still accomplished 2 seprate hovers with 2 full batteries. As soon as i had my first lift off the wind grabbed the heli and pulled it about 40 feet away from me but i was still able to grab control and command it fighting the wind. You guys are correct in that it is hard learning ccpm setup on a forum but luckily i did because of your patience and instruction.I set this up perfectly on my own with no one to give me hands on security. The heli is setup perfect and lifted streight up only being manipulated by the wind.I assume having some expo would surely make it more docile but i still managed to control it and bring it down gently.I did take a few seconds to get used to the collective pitch system as it was a little snappy.

RE: How to apply corrections to transmitter stick fly ccpm helicopter
yeah using thumbs aint going to happen for me..lol...flying a ccpm heli to me seems like taking a top and spinning it and giving it continuous bumps to keep it from leaving the circle. That is my best comparison. My trouble with flight simulators is that the heli seems to raise up into a stable hover and i was able to fly around no problem. With a real ccpm heli...not a chance. The most i got with a real one is making it swing a little bit as i tried just tapping the controls. The simulator came with my hanger 9 p51 trainer plane.

How to apply corrections to transmitter stick fly ccpm helicopter
One of the biggest problems i am facing trying to fly one of these. is not knowing how to handle the sticks,I read that you dont want to hold the stick in the direction in witch you want to make the correction because the heli will keep going that way. Therefore causing the helicopter to basically just keep rocking in each corrected direction.I try to fly my helicopter and what happens is i make a correction from witch ever way the heli is drifting, trying to bring it back to the center.Although all that seems to happen is that the heli goes into this dance in witch it will just keep swinging back and forth and left and right until the blades strike the wall. Now am i supposed to just tap the stick in the corrected direction and then just let it bounce back to the center? because when i study flight videos,it seems that the pilot makes there correction like i do accept the machine stays in a stable hover.I understand about making very small stick movements but the helicopter just goes in to this never ending swing. It seems absolutely unreal watching someone have one of these things in a stand still stable hover. When the heli happens to jump up to about eye level however at this point it seems to sit in one spot somewhat. But i let her down slowly because i dont want to mabo with it at this level. It seems to me that to put one of these in a stable hover i would have to basically quickly tap each correction into the stick and then let it go back to center??
