RE: PIPER TOMAHAWK -Messer Plans
Steve. See dddtong.com/tomahawk. This was the first flight. I raised the nose gear so it sits just a bit positive and now it takes off straight. Mel.

RE: CY Models ARF Cesna L-19 Bird Dog
Hello Ken Captduane ask me to look at your posts. I have numerous flights on mine now. The original owner let me have it after it came apart. So I have done the following. 1. Beefed up the flat area where the stab fits internally to give it more material to sit on. 2. Balanced the elevators. [A MUST] 3.. Cut in another door on opposite side to attatch strut easier. 4. Balance plane so nose is down just a bit. Level don't get it. 5. I just use metal screwa at top of strut. They don't do much anyway. 6. I have a 26 cc motor and it ok but a bit more power would be better because of the weight I have added to balance nose down. 7. I have replaced the gear with one that does not require a v shaped spreader bar. The stock one with a spreader bar added is fine though About 3/16 dia. Thats about it or at least what I remember. Good luck. Mel.

RE: PIPER TOMAHAWK -Messer Plans
I do not remember the fuse length off hand but it is about 6 feet. Don sold the cowl to Jim Messer for his kit. The wing is 100 inches. Those were the days before 2 peice wings which I would definately do nowadays. After 11 years I sold mine. I flew it with a Quadra 35 actually 2 of them as I wore one out. John Bayshore a long time buddy of mine got the plane from a friend of his off ebay as I mentioned. We intend to fly it sometime soon because John lives about 60 miles away. Mel.

RE: PIPER TOMAHAWK -Messer Plans
Here is the Tomahawk that was built several years ago. It was found for sale on ebay and we have rebuilt this model. I designed this plane in the 80's.carved the plug etc. and flew mine for eleven years. Don Limbocker made the mold.sold several kits over the years. We will fly this model soon. This particular plane was made by Bud and Joe Zimmerman around the 80's as well. Mel.

I have a lot of flights on my World models P 47. I fly it with a 26 cc engine and it is fine but not a powerhouse. I feel the 30 is going to be an improvment. I also changed to the electra flight electric retracts

RE: *** Top Gun 2011, RCU Onsite Coverage ***
Gentlemen. I did not know my statement about Mr. Scale would mean so much. Actually I do call Three people that name DAVE PLATT,HARRIS LEE and FRANK TIANO there are others I know such as the AMA But these three are responsible for the beginning of of organized scale in this country. I know all three of these people and their backgrounds. Dave for bringing his talents to this country. Then Harris for his consept of the Scale Masters and finally Frank for his idea of Top Gun. Which brings up the subject of History. I hope someone starts something soon before we lose this info. By the way have you noticed the over 15000 hits in about 10 hours. Just thought I would throw this in. Now back to more photos.places etc. Mel

RE: Gilman Springs RC Flyers Dawn Patrol Fly-In
There are a lot more pictures coming as soon as we can. I think a lot of them will be posted under the RC COMMUNITY near the top of your screen. Then to RC EVENTS then to the Gilman Springs Dawn patrol as you scroll down I am told plus some may be on scale column as well. [:)] As mentioned there were 41 pilots signed up with several having two planes with a total of over 50 WW1 planes. Quite a turn out with many of them being large sized including a 50% DR1 still in the bones not to mention several flybys by a full size DR1 and a huge Folker DV11 that flew as well. The Gilman Springs flyers want to thank all those that came to this WW1 flyin especially those from long distances.
