RE: Global Skylane 45-60 build
Did you happen to check the back of the wing plans? The fuse plans were printed on the reverse. I just picked up one of these NIB, looking forward to flying it.

RE: Dodson Windsong
If all you want to do is fly club TD contests just stick some servos in it and go fly. [:)] It was about 5 years ago a Lovesong won at Visalia. The issue with the Windsong is the lack of a spar that ends at the wing tip. As I recall it terminates at the aileron junction. However, the Windsong also launches very well on a moderate pull. A very strong pull on launch mainly is beneficial if you plan a strong zoom at the end. Even with a bullet proof wing the airfoil will prevent a big zoom anyway. Adding weight will just increase sink and landing speeds. Also keep in mind the E214 is a very thick wing compared to some modern airfoils. The good news is the extra thickness adds a great deal of strength. The issue with glassing the wings of an old airplane is you have no good way to judge the bond underneath. The aileron and flap sizes are fine, they are very honest flying airplanes and great thermal machines. The 'Song will land very slowly when built stock. Stick the aileron servos in the wings. The mixer setup was ahead of its time, but just not worth the hassle these days. Also look around and find the details for "tripping" the E214. It made a huge difference.

Building AMA Delta Dart with kids
My wife is teaching art with elementary school kids this year. It is a private school with very advanced kids. She was looking for something different to do with them and I suggested building Delta Darts. Has anyone around here done this before? How old were the kids? Suggestions?

RE: ls-3 scale
I actually have one of these about ready to be covered. Everyone I have spoken with have the same thing to say. Its a great flying airplane when built stock. They are good slope and thermal planes. Not the fastest thing around, but much better than a lot of scale birds for thermal work. Overall just a good honest airplane. I had my doubts about the elevator pushrod setup. However, after setting it up per plans I have to say its solid with no slop.

RE: Advice needed on excessive wiring.
You can do that, but it can be a bit of work to plug and unplug. A little more elegant solution is to plug the battery into an aileron extension, it takes up less room but is easier to connect.

RE: Resurecting a Lovesong
I have a couple of Lovesong and Pivot kits around, I plan on converting one of each to electric. Both planes do pretty well with a little weight, electric shouldn't be a problem. I would avoid too much power on the lovesong, the E214 just isn't a very fast airfoil.

RE: Airtronics Cumic -- Need building advice-- Alerons or not?
My father had a Cumic with ailerons, this is the way to go. The Cumic is a little faster than some of the other poly birds out there, the ailerons make it a lot easier to fly. It will still thermal with the best of them.

I have recently installed a Norvel .074 in a Herr Cub with floats. I hate the way it sticks out of the cowl, will these run alright upside down?

Herr Cub on floats
So my girlfriend came through for my birthday and got me a Herr Cub. I am thinking it really needs a set of floats, has anyone flown it off the Herr floats? What would be a good power combination with it on the floats? I have a Norvel 049 and 074, but I worry the 49 is not enough and the 74 overkill. How about the 061? Kristopher

RE: ex-Raptor 50 owner....Wants Raven
I have put a bit of time on my Raven and flew the crap out of a couple of hawks, I never had trouble with the tube. I very much prefer it to the help system. Just seems smoother. As far as comparing the two, I have flown both. Nothing really hard 3D, just moving into that stuff now, but I have done all the basics. The best thing I can say is I have a blinged Raptor and an old worn out Raven. I am selling the Raptor [:D] The Raven is a solid machine that to me feels much more like a mini 90 than a big 30. You really can't go wrong. The downside is there is not as much bling out there for the century machines, because its simply not needed. Kristopher

RE: Unofficial Nitro Hammer Thread
anyone know at what speed the Hammer starts to chine walk? After some tweaks on mine I cannot got over about 85% throttle without really back walking. Trim wise it seems pretty good, but on water with ripples it gets very unstable at full throttle and wants to blow over. I guess the tweaks went a little too well :) Kristopher

Stay away from most airplane fuels. Either get a boat fuel or a heli fuel, which is normally easier to find than a boat fuel.

RE: Just Got a Century Raven 50
The Raven is one sweet heli. I have a Stinger 50, which is basically a Raptor with a different head. The Stinger flies okay, better than a 30, but NOTHING like the Raven. The Raven feels very smooth in the air, like a much bigger ship. I have a .50 Hyper and Jr 500T on mine, a very good combination. Kristopher

How bad is it bent? Normally they can be bent back into shape without issue. Dumb question, but are the screws on the weight loose? Did you get some threadlock down inside the hole? If so try heating them with a torch, they should come loose. Kristopher

RE: H9 Aresti 40
I have been abusing the Aresti for about a year now, running a TT.46. It will knife edge very well. It wil travel the entire length of the field wit 1/2 rudder throw and a slight forward pressure on the stick. No roll coupling. Rolls and loops are great as well. It will do some mild 3d stuff, but that is probably as much a pilot limitation as anything else. One minor setup issue to watch out for. The plane should be 0-0-0, but some seem to be coming out of the factory with a little positive on the wing. Also watch the weight in the nose, mine required a few ounces in the tail. Kristopher
