RE: YS 110s problem
To depress the springs you can use the little valve adjusting key (with some force). Also, be sure to assemble the parts inside a transparent plastic bag so, the small spring retainers cannot be lost.

RE: Conquest IV CG
Well, the plans shows the cg at 50 percent of the root chord (19cm of 38cm). Otherwise it shows it at 35% of MAC which you can find at 47cm from the wing tip. I have to repeat that the plane flies much better with an aft cg position with absolutely no tendency to tip stall.

RE: Conquest IV CG
As I remember from the 2 Conquest IVs that I owned you should make them really tail heavy in relation to plan cg position. They fly much better this way.

Hello Chad and Andy, our F3A Nationals were held in Volos last April 19 & 20. AFAIK no other F3A events are planned for the near future. But you can sure visit flying sites near big Greek cities on weekends. Stavros

RE: YS 110 regulator retrofit
Thank you for the very detailed and informative answer Troy. As you said there is no real gain just changing parts. I was trying to address the problem in my engine, stopping in the middle of the sequence (twice) yesterday during our nationals. Everything was ok on the ground having strong full rpm, good transition and acceptable idle. Having read most of the previous posts on the subject I will search for air leaks in the system (proper bolt tightening etc). Stavros

YS 110 regulator retrofit
Hi Troy, I want to retrofit the regulator of my YS 110 (pre 2006). Is the new gasket set (YSE0745) directly interchangable with the old regulator body ? If not, can l use the A,B,C,D parts from the CH YS110 parts list to retrofit the regulator of my old YS110 ? TIA for your help. Stavros

RE: Venus II
ORIGINAL: rc168 I plan to use YS FZ110-S with Hyde mount Type A for my Venus II and would like to know if it is OK that I don't use a nose ring for the YS since it is not very easy to modify Venus to have a nose ring. -Mike
Hi Mike, as I tried the YS110 with the Hyde type A mount I am against it. It vibrates way too much. Although the mount is a non ring type it is much better if you use one. Otherwise think about using another type like Sullivan etc. Just my 2c Stavros

RE: ordering direct from China, does it work?
I just payed the tax for the insured value. It depends on the customs value estimation or the marked value on the box. Anyway the direct buy is way cheaper than buying the plane from importers. Contact with seller was also ok (email). Stavros
ORIGINAL: Troy Newman If you follow the diagram I posted above or something similar to this photo you will not have problems with flooding. Troy
Troy, is there a good reason to use this way of plumbing for other YS engines like the 110FZ or the regulator in these engines prevents flooding during filling ? Stavros

RE: MK soft mount
ORIGINAL: mikedsilva The MK mount came with self tappers/woodscrews. the Surpass mounting plate is plywood. Is the plywood strong enough to use the self tappers, or should i use a blind nut setup and bolt arrangement...
Mike, I also intent to replace the tappers with 4 mm allen screws using a small piece of 3 mm aircraft ply below the wooden rails as they are made of soft wood. Stavros

RE: MK soft mount
Yes Mike. This is why I used the nose ring. It makes it impossible for the engine to touch the cowl. It is just rotating. Anyway it doesn't harm to file the front opening of the cowl a little. Stavros

RE: MK soft mount
As I am using the same MK soft mount for my YS110 (on the same model Surpass 90) I have to say that I used washers to fill in the gap above the engine lugs. I also used the MK nose ring although I don't think it is neccessary.

RE: Surpass 90 Build
In my Surpass the YS110 with the MK soft mount is just a drop in. No need for mods. In the Saito case I think you should enlarge the opening between the rails and hang the engine from the top of its mounting lugs.

RE: SURPASS-90 Pattern Plane - Has anyone heard of them before?
ORIGINAL: wagen017 Stavros, does your model have the balanced rudder/elevator? I added a picture of my deceased Infinity as example.[:(]
No, the surfaces are not counterbalanced as the photo shows but they are very big. Note that the BB horns are included. The wing is a one piece, made in the factory. I am planning to reinforce the firewall area (for the YS110) and also the landing gear plate. I already ordered a Bolly replacement gear as the one supplied is stiff (thick aluminum) and also on the heavy side (the 2 legs weight 140 gr). Stavros

RE: SURPASS-90 Pattern Plane - Has anyone heard of them before?
Hi Mike, I ordered two of them and received them 20 days before. The model is exactly the same as the Fliton Infinity 90. The transaction with Mr. Huang from Enjoyhobbies was flawless. The model is very nice and super light. You can find reviews about it as Infinity 90. Just google search a little. For anything about it just ask Happy new year Stavros

RE: D.E.P.S (Dual Elevator Pushrod System)
Thank you for the answer Scott. I suppose that the binding produced between the V and the tubes when the servo is moving, is insignificant. Happy new year.

RE: D.E.P.S (Dual Elevator Pushrod System)
Is it posiible to have a photo of the installed DEPS (servo end) ? I am especially interested to see the angle between the pushrods before their junction. I assume that the 1/4 wood support is straight. Thank you. Stavros

RE: D.E.P.S (Dual Elevator Pushrod System)
Looking at the CF pushrod routing in Scott Smith's arrangement I wonder if the curve is acceptable (for .007 rods) or it must be a straight shot from elevator horn to the junction of the two CF rods. Of course curving the rods (and the tubes) makes it easier to set them perpendicular to servo horn. Otherwise there is always an angle between servo travel and carbon/tube line. How much is acceptable ?
