RE: 3MM 53cc Header length
I have never had any options, normally to get it to fit I have to shorten the header as much as possible. That always seems to run fine, but I've never been able to experiment with length.

RE: Inventory
ORIGINAL: tailspins I hope you realise that people like me that like your planes and need a replacement are going to go elsewhere to by!
I do. I hope all of you understand that for me it's a business, not a hobby, and if I can't make a profit on it there's no point to doing it. We have been squeezed from both directions. The sales volume has gone down dramatically since 2008 because of the poor economy. Sales to young adults have pretty much disappeared, I guess young guys with a family decided that feeding their family was more important than feeding their hobby. Then at the same time chinese builders have been raising prices and their minimum quantities as their economy grows and their government is pressured (by the US among others) to equalize their currency. So nowadays I am paying double what I paid 6 years ago for the same plane. If the time comes when it looks like I can sell a good quality plane for a profit I assure you I would be doing it. TF

Covering on that plane is Ultracoat. What you refer to is one way to do it. If you have the ability to work with lightweight aluminum then hopping over the wing tube is one way to do it.

RE: Can setup for WH Extra 300
Installing a canister on a 300LX is tough because the wing tube is in the way, one of the reasons we went with the 300 and 260 in later models. I don't think I can help you much, I have parts (header/coupler/clamps) if you decide you want to give it a try. TF

Phone number changed to 972-399-WILD
Hello All! Wild Hare's telephone number is changing. The new number is 972-399-WILD or 972-399-9453. Our old number will remain in service for a while but will eventually go away. Please change any contact info you have for Wild Hare R/C to the new number. Our new number allows us to direct calls to multiple phones at multiple locations, so we should be better equipped to stay in contact. We can accept text messages here now also. Thanks! Tom Fawcett

RE: Hellcat F6F Wild Hare RC - G-Pete's build and review
ORIGINAL: Lifer There's a lot to be said for the sellers reputation. Tom, how many people need to commit to your Spitfire for you to go ahead with the order? You have a good name in the industry and I would be willing to commit with a deposit.
I see there's a lot of speculation about Wild Hare's plans. Let me try to explain. Developing and selling one of these warbirds requires a whole lot of time and a good deal of money. The builder's want to build a minimum of 50 planes and even then they complain and drag their feet. Plus shipping from China adds significantly to the cost unless we buy a large container full, and with a plane like the F6F or the Spitfire that will be about 200-250 airplanes. Generally figure the cost of a container of planes is $60,000, give or take. So, for a little mom and pop company like Wild Hare how long do you thing that many planes will last? A long time, that's how long. Long enough that we start wondering if the remaining inventory will ever sell at a profit. Often it does not and we have to discount old inventory and lose money on it. Any profit doesn't happen until about the last third of the batch, so if we don't sell a batch out quickly we don't make a profit. And as much fun as this is, we have to make a profit to be able to continue. The slow economy pushes this equation past the tipping point. On the up side'... I plan to maiden the Spitfire soon. It's a nice plane, very light, with servo-driven retracts. I think it's going to fly even better than the Hellcat, it has more wing area and is laid out a lot like an aerobatic plane, except it has flaps. But it has large ailerons and elevators, lots of wing area, and I'm hoping to get the price down where I can sell a pretty good quantity of them. TF

RE: Edge 540 CG & throws?
V1 has sheeted foam wings, v2 has built up wings. CG on the wing tube, use throws from any of the manuals on our web site for aerobatic planes, like Extra. They are all the same.

RE: Hellcat F6F Wild Hare RC - G-Pete's build and review
I specified a high and a low rate for a reason. After the plane has been flown a few times and you are used to it you might want to experiment with a high rate to see what it does. Be warned that it will be an adventure, have plenty of altitude when you try it the first time. But you should always have a low rate fallback. I have personally had planes I built set up with too much throw and once in the air it proved unflyable. I once had an Extra with way too much aileron throw and no low rate (this was years ago when I was less wise than I am now). I got the plane in the air and when I went to make the first turn I found the plane inverted because it rolled so fast. I did manage to get it upright and kept it going for a minute or two, but eventually it proved to be beyond my ability to fly it. Now I always have a very low rate available on all surfaces, just in case. TF

RE: WildHare 35% Extra 300 Build
Never used them, don't see a need. The gear has two small holes in it, just mount the wheel pant against the gear and use 4-40x1/2" screws with blind nuts inside the gear. I've done literally dozens of planes this way. Use a wheel collar on the inside to hold the wheel away from the gear and center it in the wheel pant.

RE: Edge 540 V2 CG
I have a left wing but not a right. In fact I checked my inventory of spares and I have about 10 left wings for assorted airplanes and only a single right wing. What's with people crashing on the right side? I do have spare Edge 88 wings, a single right one plus complete sets. You could put these on your V2, it would look a bit off because of the different color scheme but would fly great. A couple very minor adjustments would be required, nothing that would take more than a few minutes. TF

ON the wing tube will get you started, that's a good place to start. You can adjust in small increments to yourstyle after you are familiar with it.

RE: Wing Bolt Problem
Great idea. When that happens to me I cut a small square of 1/4" lite ply and install a blind nut into it, then I glue it in place while securing it with the wing retainer bolt. Your string idea would have made it a little easier.

RE: 41% Extra
Usually it was the CF rods which would wear. If you can just pull out the 4mm rods you can inspect/replace them. The newer planes had bushings in the tabs, if you have an older plane I may have a new set that will work for you.

RE: Hellcat F6F Wild Hare RC - G-Pete's build and review
I do not know of any thread, but I can assure you the G62 is a good engine. It's an even better engine with an electronic ignition, I can supply a conversion kit to use the RCexl ignition for $99.00 including the ignition. It makes the G62 much easier to hand start and it will idle a lot more smoothly. TF
ORIGINAL: computermonkey Tom I called last Wednesday and left a voice mail asking if you had a hardware kit for a the ver 1 Edge 540t 50cc, plus interested in CF wide tube, tail wheel ass. etc. I have yet to hear back.
We were on vacation, and some of the messages may have been lost. Please call back, we're here now.
Was also interested in the 30cc Sbach and wonder why you have none scheduled to receive with Christmas around the corner? Thanks,
It's a business thing. Basically we have to buy a lot of planes any time we order and sales are very slow due to the bad economy. Selling the 30cc planes for $299 moved a lot of planes but made me no money. I can make no money a lot easier than that. TF
