RE: DUCTED FAN JETS
Hi, is this thread still alive? I'm wondering what sources for fan acessories are still around.. eg those conformal fuel tanks, starter wands, fan locking tools, ducting, tunded pipes, remote needles & such items. JMP & jet hanger hobbies don't have much anymore.. so where is a good source? And of course Ducted fan airframes?

Extended length Nose Spinners RedBULL style
Question, many of the newer come with Extended Nose spinners. Who supplies these for the RC industry? The profile of the Spinners are much longer & specifically shaped compared to ultimate style Trueturns etc.. I'm assuming custom ordering is possibly available from trutur or other..but maybe too expensive Surely someone is making them in these styles by now? Anone have any ideas? I'm currently looking for a 3" spinner for a 30cc MXSR as in the picture Thanks

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size
JWMAV... I also have a DLE20 (in a bigger airplane) and also have a YS91AC installed in my Phoneix extra... Presently, to keep the revs within limit of the YS I'm running a 15x10 prop on it, it barely has enough ground clearance with this prop, so if your putting in the DLE20 (which loves a 17" prop or bigger) you will have ground clearance/strike issues with it! So see if you can find a 15" prop that can keep that engine in rev limits or a 3 blade prop or maybe a higher stance landing gear. But generally I think (after running in the DLe in a bigger plane (120 sized velox) it will probably weigh in around 9Lbs + which is well above the ideal 7Lbs for this airframe. So lighten up where ever you can (remove the heavy stock Pilot, use carbon wing tube, carbon landing gear (20cc size landing gear from hobby king is a slap in fit) & be prepared to get a heavy batter pack. I made a bulkhead shaped flat ply plate to zip tie my battery on & this bulkhead is attached to the fomer located deep in the tail "boom" And thats just with the YS914banger, this DLE is a heavier brute! But that said, If you do get it working it will be VERY VERY fast.. but don't get to slow it will snap on the turns with all that extra weight

RE: BGX / ST S3250 Muffler & Canister options
earlwb Thanks for the Info on the Alum Beer bottle canister, I should Look into this as I'm hoping to quiet down the engine. Hobbsy Thanks, I had searched on tower for the inverted kind, this one wasn't there.. so thanks for your info, most likely I will end up using this. Do you have an idea if these short mufflers dampen the sound enough? I have never used these kind as yet!

BGX / ST S3250 Muffler & Canister options
Hi Guys, I have a Supertigre S3250 engine & I wish to install it inverted but I'm having problems finding a suitable inverted muffler or tunedpipe/canister I need a muffler with 45mm mounting center, same as BGX The plane has a canister tunnel so I can use a canister kit or even a tuned pipe kit once I can get a header with the required mount Anyone knows of a canister or tuned pipe kit that can fit the st 3250 or OS BGX ? What options are out there? thanks

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size
QUESTION: Has anyone had a wing structure FAIL on them in flight? eg.. snap a wing off in a full throttle hard turn etc.. Reason I'm asking is I'm really putting a good strain on those wings with my flying... wondering if I should take it easy on the plane (not inclined too) I'm flying it full bore, very agressively & it takes it all sofar. Using a YS91AC on 20%... Its quite a speedster on this engine

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
If your looking for specialized AMSOILs, I got mine straight from an AMSOIL independant distributor (sinwal enterprises inc .. in Ontario) so see if there any amsoil distributors in your area As for breaking in, yes I've also gotten dino oil for the first 4 liters of gas.. then will switch to the Dominator synthetic (its an air cooled engine specific oil .. air cooled engines operate higher than water cooled 2strokes) @ 32:1... theres even a 100:1 amsoil blend that the delear say some aeromodellers buy from him to use in their gasser, but I WON'T go that way. thanks for the advice guys

Hey guys, I just got a new DLE20 setup in a Velox. First time getting into the gassers so, after seeing what highER quality oils I can find in my area, I have decided on using AMSOIL Dominator 2 stroke racing oil (its an aircooled engine high temp oil) for premix @50:1 (synthetic oil) Whats the consensus on the Amsoil Dominator oil? anyone using it? a few people are using this in their gassers also. Thanks

Yes, its a bit weak just behind the gear area. But since I know that.. I just handle it from the landing gear, wing tube & aft fuse. What Dubro mod are you talking off? Speaking of mods, I want to convert the canopy to those spring latches.. I've seen those on h..king

YIKES, Tower's price went up by 27%, its now $190... Since it's Previous lower cost was the deciding factor.. How many people would want this plane anymore. I got it for $150 at the beginning of 2011. What a shame

seems tower only likes to carry certain Phonenix models... generally the 40 sized aircraft, but they do have a lot of larger 60 sized aircraft. SO IS THERE A GOOD ALERNATIVE DEALER/onine merchant for the US/CAN market that carries phonix models in their lineup? I would like to get another one as well as try some of their other aircraft that I never see in tower hobbies linup as well. Lets get some answers on this one please please!

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size
Hi, Bob, I don't know about the tail gear as I don't care to much about if the tail bounces or not (stock is fine for me) but I have gotten the hobby king " 20carbon fiber landing gear (20cc size) " & that will fit good, however its height is 135mm so you may not get enough clearance for a 16 prop. But still a nice carbon gear, VERY light compared to the stock! Maybe take a look at HK's similar 28cc gear definitely enough clearance!! By the way, looking to find carbon tube 19mm to replace the heavy stock one, any ideas guys? You know I'm still flying it like a pattern ship (lowish rates) man is it a fast one with a ys 91ac.. wondering how it will manage when I flip it to max possible rates. Landings are fast & long with this engine/prop setup

RE: Canadian YS engines part retailer ??
Okay, seems no one has ys Engine parts in canada.. All I can find is C. Hobbies (they want faxed credit card info, front & back PLUS an authorising note AND signature, before I can buy from them .. IS canada a third world country or something? If all US retailers are like that, cross border biz with Canada with slow don't quite a bit) also YS engines.net (which never answers there phone & don't respond to emails) So are there any other US retailers stocking YS airplane engine parts.. that don't mind regular biz & shipping to canada??

Hmmm. I just maidened mine with a YS 91 AC on a 14x10 prop... Your right, I have forgotten to laterally balance it & you do feel it in loops etc.. However, its quite a snarling beast on that engine, hot damn.. It is a keeper. I took a few steps to lighten it up during the build, so it a floater as well! Maybe I'll post some pics later

RE: ***** New E Flite F16 400 DF (Thunderbird Scheme) *****
Thanks for your comments Mr Fourtpluskid, I have indeed given it some more thought & will leave the gear experiement for another victim. Yes these micro planes, don't like any extra weight.. so it will be a hand toss/bungee launch machine. Will go with rudder & a lightweight 70mm fan on 4cell.. I don't like their wing securing method, so will invest in a 3mm carbon rod "Spar"& stake it (carefully) through the wing & fuse for a a sound structure. Your COG info is welcomed, will start at that point, but was aslo hoping someone tried say, a more daring 70mm COG & what results they got.

RE: ***** New E Flite F16 400 DF (Thunderbird Scheme) *****
I just got on of these discontinued Eflite F16, new inbox from a friend of mine. I'm planning to carve out a little more room in the fan bay & install a good quality 70mm fan unit to get it going & proabably a 4cell unit. One question I have is.. Does anyone have a good CG point for this plane. Its been noted that the balance position stated, is still a bit nose heavy! hope someone has an answer! Ohh, has anyone tried installing those mirco retracts (hobby king etc..) into this or similar sized(60-65mm) F-16 foamies? I have a spare mirco pneumatic retract I'm thinking of putting in it. It is a nice cannister muffler, very good quality & good price as well. I find it is still overkill for the DLE20 though. But will measure the plane & see if it can work.

Hii, going to buy one of these this weekend, but have a question about maximizing power. I think the stock muffler is fine, but if I wanted to get more power, are there any Canister mufflers made for this engine as yet? I've seen the Jtec's Dle 20 wrap around.. but want to find more of a large volume such as these KS cannister types, these work more like tuned pipes etc. Hoping to find in size for this this DLE20 thanks

Hii, has anyone found any composite landing gear at Graphtech RC that is a great fit with the same scale shape as the stock aluminum one??? The closest I have found there is the #922, found in the extraspecial saving category. Also thinking of getting a composite wingtube. 3/4" is the diameter for this plane right?

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size
a 60 sized engine was the desired engine of choice for allmost all rc aircraft in the earlier days of rc aeromodelling. Although aerobatics has evolved mush since then, the current 60 engines do quite well for standard aerobatics and loops in airframe sized for that class. However don't expect them to hover... I had a K&B.61 baffle piston type engine. that flew standard aerobatics quite well on on of the older lanier foam & vacuformed plastic Plane I had.

[quote]ORIGINAL: nolefan1961 reaaz Welcome aboard! learn from our experience, and you will have a wonderful flying airplane. Watchout when assembling the elevator stab, make sure it is at zero incidence. It is very easy to misalign that. The next thing, make sure the ailerons are not reflexed up near the fuselage. If you have a pump on the fuel line then moving the fuel tank back 4 inches

RE: Pheonix Extra 330S 60-90 Size
Hi all, Just wondering if a YS 91 AC 4 stroke will be a good match for this aircraft? I know that this YS is supposed to put out more power because of its airchamber supercharging. I'll be using a 14x8 is best for this engine. Otherwise I'm hoping to use this airplane for sport aerobatics & 3D like harriers, torque rolls etc.. So hoping it can hang on the Prop with my YS. Or would I need to lighten the plane some more for it to handle this?
