ORIGINAL: travlnmark Hi Ruud, I have built the 1/3 scale Fly Baby mono kit from Balsa USA and have considered building this 1/2 scale kit. Can you tell me what the quality of the kit and instruction manual was? Were all the parts included or did you find yourself going to the hobby shop to purchase little things that were not included? Thanks, Mark McKinney, TX
Hi Mark. The kit is verry complete al the parts are there and from a high quality. Look at the website of Wolfgang Schlundt to get more info http://www.modellbau-schlundt.de/ -Ruud-

I have made a 60 flights with the Fly Baby and every time I fly it I'am verry satisfied with it. Most of the realistic sound of the large prop. Here some pics of the Fly Baby. Regards, Ruud.

RE: Building the Fly Baby scale 1:2,2
ORIGINAL: JohnVH tell me about that engine/reduction setup?
Hi John, Here some explanation copied from this website http://www.modellbau-schlundt.de/englisch/ Regards, Ruud. The 2.5/1 gearbox ensures smooth running of the Zenoah G 62. The geared Zenoah G 62 turns a 34x20" propeller with a speed of 3000 rpm. Idle speed with this prop is around 800 rpm. The gearbox is very compact and ideal for installation in the Fly Baby. The distance between engine mount and propeller is only 190 mm (7.5”), the distance between center of crankshaft to center of gearbox shaft is only 80 mm (3.15“). Without engine the gearbox weighs only 2,160 g (4 4/5 lbs) and 4,150 g (9 1/5 lbs) with Zenoah G 62 (but without muffler). We use this gearbox in combination with the Zenoah G 62 in the Fly Baby with a wingspan of 3.8 m (149.6”) and a flying weight of 17,500 g (38 3/5 lbs). The combination provides ample power for scale-like flying and aerobatics.

RE: Building the Fly Baby scale 1:2,2
From the website of Solar: SOLARTEX IRON-ON COVERING FABRIC FOR MODEL AIRCRAFT Iron-on self adhesive fabric. Very strong and tough covering material, stronger than films but heavier. SOLARTEX has the textured surface of a fabric. The fabric surface has been protected by a tough coat of two-pack resin to make it airtight and fuelproof. The back of the fabric is coated with a colourless heat-seal adhesive. On the model the Solartex is easily cleaned with soapy water when soiled.

Building the Fly Baby scale 1:2,2
Hi all, I started 10 Months ago with the building of a Fly Baby from Modellbau Wolfgang Schlundt. For in the states http://www.vogelsang-aeroscale.com/ Specifications: Scale: 1/2.2 Wingspan: 3.8m (149.6) Length overall: 2.45m (96.5) Flying weight: 17.5 kg (38 3/5 lbs) Power: Zenoah G62 with 2.5/1 gear I am almost ready, I am now busy with the folie and after that the paint work. The kit from Schlundt is verry easy to build and verry complete also. I made some smal video,s from Wolfgang who is flying the Fly Baby at our flying field, the wind was verry strong at that moment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKUBQiycvSI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0J6Ws1E0uU And starting the engine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdIgcXm4ZBA Here some pictures of the kit and the building. RE: Spark plugs
Hi Ralph, I hear you talking about the resistor in the plug, I mesured 22k ohm for RCJ7Y and 10K ohm for the BPMR7A. Can there be a different in interference to the transmitter? I had the following: After a few years trouble-free flying with a ZG62 with sparkplug NGK BPMR-7A I replaced it with a new Champion RCJ7Y. But the consequence of that change was radio interference, while flying the servo's going to shake. For sure I tried an other Champion RCJ7Y with the same result. After changing back to the old wornout NGK BPMR-7A everyting was normal with flying. Is it possible that the NGK have a better filter in it? Regards, Ruud.

RE: Spark plug ZG62
ORIGINAL: arobatx Interesting observation, I have switched back and forth between those plugs on my G62 for some time now. I considered them to be interchangeable by design, and never saw any difference when switching between them. Granted, I run EI on my 62, but still use the OEM boot, wire and spark coil. Does your boot fit easily onto the old worn NGK, and perhaps you are not getting the boot/cap all the way on with the Champion? I'll be interested to see how this turns out...
Hi arobatx, The top of the NGK and the Champion are precisely the same so the cap fits oke....
