RE: Help redman's engine please!
Hey guy's I just pulled my head and found a rock like particle on top of the piston. No scratches or scuffs in the sleeve but maybe this rock wasn't letting the engine breathe on the exhaust stroke.I have my fingers crossed! Man,I wish Honda built nitro's,because if they did I would own one.Nothing runs like a Honda.Wish me luck,I sure do need it![sm=drowning.gif][sm=punching.gif]

Help redman's engine please!
Hi guy's hows everybody been.I'm back to ask for your help? This question is about a Tamiya Tnx not my redcat volcano.I own the original 3.0 Tnx.It had been a great truck until now. First,my hobby shop was out of my fuel (white lightening) so I bought byrons originals.BIG MISTAKE.That fuel sucks. It smells so bad and it burned up one of my TNX engines, can't figure out why?The truck never ran good on that garbage fuel.So I went back to white lightening. I changed engines and here's my problem.I'm not a newbie. I have tried all I know but can't figure this one out.I have sealed every possible air leak area with high temp rtv.I have checked the tank and all fuel lines for cracks and leaks. The glow plug is new and the batteries in the igniter are new. These engines run on a simple concept.Theres no valves or timing to make it con- fusing,so why can't I figure this out. My truck will start and idle just fine. Now I hit the throttle wide open it will scream off very well for about 40 yards. Then it will bog down and die no matter what, full throttle or no gas it will DIE.Then you have to pull your arm off to try to start it.Then if it starts it will rev high then die everytime.Just like when you flip your truck over and don't retrieve before it dies.I have always got great advice from you guy's and hope you can help me again.I really need it!

Reviews for Tornado xl?
Hi guys I haven't been here in a while and I'm glad to be back.I just ordered a tornado xl and I'm wonder- ing how good it could be for 99 bucks? My Tamiya TNX is a KILLER truck, but she needs a friend. So I bought this. I used to own a volcano and after that truck I almost got away from nitros all together. That truck is terrible and would break on daily basis, but then I found the Tnx and nitro is fun again, very durable truck and super fast.I don't expect Tamiya quality but I hope its better than my last redcat expierence. So all you tornado xl owners did I make a mistake or is this a pretty good buggy. Thanks guys.RED.

I just started running the MC59 plug in my TNX.After going through 3 brands the MC59 is head and shoulders above the rest.

TAMIYA TNX
Hi everybody,I just picked up a TAMIYA TNX monster truck, and was wondering if anybody on this forum knows anything about them.I own a volcano stx and frankly I have had nothing but problems with it.Every- time I take it out I break something and its not from crashing. These trucks are not very durable,I guess you get what you pay for.I did pay more for the TAMIYA,but the difference is like mickey mouse to chuck liddell. Hey guys, It's been awhile since I've been here, but thats because I have been waiting on parts.Well the parts came in so I put it all together.I just replaced my throttle linkage and everything is perfect in that area, all my adjustments are right on.Here's the tricky part, when I put this truck away it was running good, but now I can't get rid of this bog on my takeoff.I have adjusted my low end needle and I can't seem to get it right,it bogs then it goes.Maybe I'm looking in the wrong dirction, can someone please help me?PS,my idle is set at 1/16 of an inch gap. Hey ehroof,I have just taken my trans box apart and you gave me a link for the wrong gears.I need the 35 tooth main gear 1,not the spur gear. With my nut totaly tight my 35 tooth gear still spins,so I should just order main gear 1 right, thanks.

Never had this before!
Hey,hows everybody doing?I just put in my new traxxas clutch spring (4146x) and within 5 minutes of run time I stripped my main diff gear. This is not your normal stripping of the teeth, they are fine.My gear stripped on the inside where the plastic and metel meet.Has this been a problem for some of you guy's?This will be my 3rd main diff gear set and I'm about tired of this at 20 bucks a pop,its expensive! I hope Mark over at Top Speed Toys will help us with this problem with some metels upgrades soon, because redcat gears are way to WEAK![:(] VOLCANO STX 1/10

Almost Absolutely Perfect!
Hey everybody, what's up.Last night I had my volcano out and was fine tuning the carb for the weather change and It happened.I must have had every jet In that carb tuned perfect, because this truck ran like it's never ran before. It has always been a very fast truck, but last night it was a super truck, this truck was so fast that I couldn't help myself from smiling,it ROCKED off the line, through the mid range and was very impressive on the top end. I can't beleive the speed of a perfect tuned vehicle,if your truck is fast, but not a bullet, then you are not 100% in tune! Now here's the funny or not so funny part of this story.I'm flying around and I get a glitch from my remote,I don't worry I just keep on rippin.I'm mad about a tree that has been cut down right where I like to do my best donuts on soft dirt,so I'm running around that area,I hit the gas the truck flies away and I notice I can't stop it,no throttle control. The same tree I was mad about saved my truck from its ultimate death. The truck ran into the tree branchs at wide open speed and sat there and dug ruts into the gound 3 inches deep, amazingly no DAMAGE.I take it inside and notice that inside my control box my throttle servo connection has come out, that's why I had no throttle control, wild huh.If that tree had not been there my volcano is toast.I wanted to share this story so you guy's could check on things like this,so it doesn't ruin your truck. These trucks are amazing when their running right,so have fun and keep on ROCKIN THE REDCAT'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Traxxas Clutch Spring
Hey guy's how has everybody been?I broke a clutch spring on my volcano, replaced it with a redcat spring, and In the repair process I stretched It out a little bit, and now I think I have lost some of my holeshot power because of my weaker spring. What do you guy's think? I have also ordered traxxas spring 4146 and It should be here In a couple of days.I have heard of a couple guy's on this forum with this traxxas clutch spring on their volcano's and I'm wondering If It gives you a better launch off the start?Thank's for all the replies.Redcat Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!! RE: Volcano or Tornado XP?
Some aluminum parts are not totaly not needed, but some are a must.I really hope redcat produces these aluminum parts some- time soon.Door type mounts, steering hubs, and rear axes holders, these with the parts that are do out mid april should give these trucks all they need to be winners on race day.I've read post by jeepers creepers who has modified his redcat's with these aluminum parts and is able to hit 5 or 6 ft jumps without breaking. There is no way you can hit jumps like that with plastic, it will break everytime. So redcat, I hope your listening, because this is what we really need.

RE: I NEED HELP !!!
Here's what you need to do.There are 3 screws on the nitro engine.HSN (high speed needle),this is the tall one with the fuel line attached to it.Screw that one out flush with collar the screw is in. LSN (low speed needle) this is the one that has the throttle arm attached to it.Screw it in,then screw it out 2 1/2 to 3 turns out. The next one is the ISS(idle set screw)this is the one that controls the the air the nitro will breathe at idle speed.Pull off your air cleaner and use the ISS screw to set the gap in the carb to 1/16 of an inch. This should get you running and you can fine tune from there.[;)]

If your vehicle is tuned right and you prime it,it should be a one pull deal. My truck starts 1 or 2 pulls,so I'll never see a reason for anything other than a pull starter.Tune It.

How Good Is Redcat
Hey guys how are you doing.I Just want to say that I love the redcat volcano.I replaced the radio and besides some little mistakes, the truck has been nothing short of awsome! I have friends with traxxas, hpi, cen, etc and on the semi flat dirt or gravel they cannot touch me and it really pisses them off because they paid more money for theirs.I cant jump as high without the aluminum parts, but once redcat's parts are out, they know they might be in big trouble! So don't bash redcat because I can't be the only guy having GOOD luck out there with these trucks. Keep on rockin redcat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![;)]
