RE: Which boat and batteries for a beginner?
Whoa, cowboy, i didn't say one word about appreciation. I said it's your decision, i just suggested and said older don't like such threads cause most are to vague and should read something before asking cause 99 3/4% older guys will just go right on by. I do think this thread should shut down and erased by you and start over. You were the original poster and you can do that. I can't erase as i don't have permission to do so or i would erase the stuff i posted and get on with my life. Good luck! I don't tell people how to do stuff, i just suggest only as i first stated.

RE: Which boat and batteries for a beginner?
The only reason i typed finedesignrc was for a look at boat and the inside setup so you could understand what i' talking about and the transom area. Most monos will look similiar in setup, no matter a deep vee or even shallow v will look!

RE: Which boat and batteries for a beginner?
Good luck in what ever boat you decide on, i gave a honest college try. I just suggested what might be a good solid boat that was stable and easy to setup. BTW, i'm not arrogant by any means but i'm 72 and time is like gold for me compared to the younger set. Now alot of threads like this come up everyday and the poster needs to give alot more info to even get a half way decent answer.I don't think i'll answer any more questions about which boat and etc; seems everyone who asks never read about boats or types or even motors before posting and then get hot under the collar, that makes the helper feel like a a** and automatically turns them sour. Now if you don't go after the boat mentioned, fine, your decision, we can't force your or deside, just suggest only! This is why the older guys like me won't touch these type postings.

RE: New Pro Boat Mini Cat motor (Not brushless).....
My Mini-C, i put a Grauper 480 race motor in and put a Garry Findley motor mount in with can cooling and works great. BL systems are not in my budget with the price of everything going sky high, just can't afford for all the boats, not crying, just an inconvience, i'm happy with what i got. i also made a standard rudder system and used K and S brass tubing as my strut with a homemade oiler for the flex shaft with a water line as a cap so oil can't get out. I just soldered a 1/8" brass tube and drilled a very small hole and smoothed out everything inside and away i go.

RE: Carbon Props..
Forgot, with the price of oil going 111 a barrel, i expect the cf props to increase alot. I see here ( states ), the price has already increased on cf to $4.50 apiece, whereas Octura 632 is almost $10.00, trade off. I'll go back to metal props which can take the beating, just my thoughts. Everyone has there ideas and thoughts on this and glad they do.

RE: Carbon Props..
Stokes is right on cf and also i found if that have been cutting the grass along the shoreline and most all the grass lands in the water. I brought my boat thru that real fast so i wouldn't get hung going slow but it riased cane with the prop and left the edges real ragged. My lesson from that was to stop boat before i reached near grass cut and shore and used fishing pole and cast to retrieve boat. I use 6 pitch on all my boats which make a smaller thrust cone and things like grass will kind get closer together from being pulled in tighter. Answer, use a 4 pitch cause it spreads out into a bigger cone and less speed. The " K " is used alot in bigger mm arena. Just my 2 cts.

RE: Which boat and batteries for a beginner?
Ok, the UFO is the best bang for the buck. Go to astec model like alloutcustom typed. UFO is solid and postage from U.K. shouldn't be much. Also it can be 6-8 cell and best results is saddle packs, one 3 cell on each side of motor. ok, www.finedesignrc.com, then go to boat hulls, then to h20 boats, then click around till you find setups for ufo cause i just did and showed it all. Make your own hardware and copy the pictures on your printer . My motor setup is 6" from transom and some say 5 1/2" from transom and cg is right at 29-30% from transom and a good sold 05-540 in what ever they have in Denmark on 6-7 cell. Get a 632 prop but make sure it is a 6 pitch, anything else won't work. now a 8 pitch won't work, a 534 won't work, 535 won't work, 432 won't work but a 632 will work. I don't know what kind of props you have over there, but carbon fiber in the 6 pitch and could be the " S " series, not sure but ask your dealer. That's the best i can do. Forgot , get .130 cable and teflon liner and cable stub or shaft. I sandpaper my cable so it is almost smooth so to cut friction by 75% except where cable goes into cable stub or shaft. Won't hurt the cable cause your not racing and still won't hurt. I picked up the sanding from Ernie Lazbury of U.K. many years ago of Rumrunner site.

RE: Traxxas Blast-new product
It's ok, but the 380 has to go but the outdrive is so-so but for that size i just did like the Mini-V .098 cable left open at the transom and turns at least 20 degrees for a 14" boat is plenty for turning. Motor has to go, and ? the esc ability to standup to the task.

I believe you should look into European sites as your from that part of the world where they're MANY boats and they can answer your questions. We can't answer when you yourself haven't the foggest idea of what you want. The trouble is if you don't like the boat, you jump on us, sorry, were here to help but everything is way to vague and us other posters don't take to be jumping on, impolite.

$50.00 is cost of boat, i guess you didn't go to Aztec or finedesignrc or you wouldn't have made that statement about boat, motor and etc and 27mph costing $50.00. That's the trouble nowadays, want it given on a silver platter without thinking or even looking or trying on your own without help. RE: ECO boat?
The gentleman who helped me on ECOs was Stokes. Now he mentioned the ECO called Manta and if you go to the other ECO thread, a you/tube shows a Manta which he said was fast, sure was. Now it looks wierd but i like it . Now the name ECO, i haven't found any info like Stokes or Quicksilver said but if you know a manufacturer in Europe, maybe they can shed more light. The one ECO which really catches my eye is Avanti of MHZ models with flood chamber which i think should have a fllod chamber due to it's shape. Europe is renown for ECO boats and have the experts too.

RE: Which boat and batteries for a beginner?
I guess i have to defend myself. I'm retired and done this along time./. My first boat was a Electrafied 22" mono with a 2110 Chameleon motor with a 534 plastic prop. The 2110 had 33,000rpm and could fly around 26 or 27mph made out of 1/32 ply on 6 good cells. Now it taught me alot about boats. Now after that i built at least 25-30 different boats especially during the winter months when temp. hit 25 below zero or so, oh yah. The 22" mono i mentioned was a UFO , found at Aztec models in U.K.. Now it was .060 abs and weighed 10 oz.. with a machine wound 38,500rpm with a 632 Octura prop on 6 cells and did 26 or 27mph and cost me $50.00 and was easy to work on with the wide open top. I'm not a salesman just a avid rc boater and not well liked on this site but am honest and pass no bs. Now a better picture is on finedesignrc with more pictures. This will be my last visit on this thread!

RE: same old question
Well ok; first take motor and sp control out. Next make a motor mount out of aluminuum .064 thousands. Just cut the aluminuum into a strip 3/4" wide and 3" long but make 2 of them. Next measure how far it is from just above the retain bolts for motor which probably are 3mm x 10mm and go down about 1 1/2" and then bend both strips so they go back under the motor. I hope you fathom what i'm typing. If you have a dremel cut down about 1/2" to the width of the 3mm bolt and attach both strips to the motor and tighten. I see your to close to the transom. Move motor toward the bow about 1". Purchase a 05-540 cooling coil or make one out of 5/32" aluminuum 3' tubing wrapped around a " D " battery. Now after you have put the coiling coil on 05-540 motor, place motor so it angles down enough so cable will slide into coupler with ease. I see you have room for just this type of setup. I see plastic bottom of hull which should be covered with 1/16" ply to make a more solid base for motor mount to adhere to. I'd use 5 minute epozy under ply and over aluminuum strips but make sure the cable slides into coupler with ease. The esc or sp control is to close to motor and should be toward the bow. Just use ply and epozy under sp control but make sure wires are long enough for your setup. I don't know if you will use this or not, depends on you but i see it the easiest way to cool motor and have a solid motor system. Alignment is the key to all setups, no matter what kind of boat you have. Good Luck!

RE: Which boat and batteries for a beginner?
MaaRcuuS, you ask about boats. Your in a region of the world where the variety of boats is enormous . Boat Troubles in Belgium is one good site for size of boats for people starting out inrc boats. They cane help you out more. The thing is, size of boat and if you want to sport or racing boat, your budget but my advise is start in the 22" mono range with 6 or 7 cells and a 432 props and gain knowledge by reading threads of different sites. Just remember, the bigger the boats, your budget has to match. Batteries should be saddle packs so to get the cg correct till you gain experience enough to go to another type of boat like self-righting where setups are different. Hope i helped.

RE: Which boat and batteries for a beginner?
MaaRcuuS; you know there are threads on the 27 model mentioned. Now before you make a decision, please read. Now for a beginner boat, not on your life is it a beginner boat. Now it is alright for someone to say yes it is, when they have one and know all the kinks about the 27 which i consider bad info. The 27 is for the very experienced rc boater. There are alot of things that have gone wrong and a inexperienced boater would try like bending the trim tabs down and end up cracking the transom or trying to fix a water leak and know not what components to remove without bending the wrong item which could cause alot of frustration on the beginner and money toboot!! I read those threads and some of those people threw up their hands and said what did i get into, no lie! I'm not jealous cause someone has one, more power to those who do. They need big ponds and all they do is go fast in circles while smaller boats can do that and many other things a boater enjoys doing. My 2 cts.

RE: Power loss question?
Weak batteries at tx will show on the tx meter. The weak signal at rx comes from the motor cells if you have a bec. Now if tx cells are weak,, the boat at a distance will go dead, no signal. Now for me, i use 9 volt battery for rx power and no bec and when i see the rudder getting slow, i know the rx 9 volt is weak and needs replacement. Now the posting indicates shut down cause the esc is overloaded due to low amp esc. Now if you look at say, Tower, in bl systems, they recommend 45 amp esc. I had a 35 amp Castle and recommended a 35 amp car fuse but cars run only 30 amp fuses. This was in a Electrafied boat 22" on 6 cells with a Chameleon and a 534 plastic prop and blew the fuse in about ten feet from where i started. I had a 9 volt battery for rx power. That's when i went for Rc-hydros 60 amp esc way back when and never looked back. I never leave tx cells in and put them in one of my wifes empty powder plastic case with one row going one way and the other row the going 90 degrees to the first row, so they can't short and label the container, same for 9 volt. Now to use 9 volts, check your servo to see what the manufacturer recommends. Fub-3003 seems to work out best and servo arm moves aliitle faster but no damage in 10 years with 9 volt.

RE: Brushed OSE 700SC Super Charged
The gentleman from Humble, Texas is Jay Turner, a noted guru and he knows his stuff better than anyone i know. I think he's referring to saw races like they have in Calif. at Long Legg. The average boater doesn't get that high in speed cause his ( average boater ) boats aren't built to handle 40-50mph, so there is no problem there. Most guys will be glad to hit 27 mph in a Villian or one of the same type. Mr. Turner's posting are high end boats which need high end dollars which most average boaters can't afford nowadays. I'm glad they have high end boats so they can be put in magazines for us to look at.

Sharp looking but a flaw 380 motor. Better off with a Grauper 480 motor, whether a 480 race or regular 480 in brushed arena to keep cost down. Now seeing how the mini's are in, the esc has to be looked at very closely and reason is the usage of the 380 motor, cooled or not have a speed that is disappointing, at least to me it would be! Go to finedesignrc and look up UFO at 22" mono which is made out of .060 abs and weighs 10 oz. and easy to setup if your not up to building a boat. Motor required is a good 05-540 in the 12/3 or 13/3 wind with a 632 prop and a 45 amp esc for brushed on 6 good cells or lipos to match. Also an airboat is more fun and gives more variety than a regular boat running in circles with same setup as the UFO except prop.

Esc is to small on amp end, Probably in the air is fine cause it needs less torque but the water is another ball game, the drag believe it or not in water does it in. Now 25 amp isn't much even in bl units, shop around for a 35 amp or better and be happy!

Mino-Rio would be the boat but 380 has to go but Grauper 480 can replace with alittle work or bl motor. I did the Mini-C revamp and put a motor mount similiar to Gerry Findley's mount in and my own strut and rudder system and worked out perfect. The motor is a Grauper 480 race and is can cooled with a 8c-7.4-1650 Common Sense lipo.

HITHEDIRT, I bought motors for both and asked for 400 and stamped on the motors was 380. The one motor came from Hobby lobby with label covering the can and asked for a 400-7.2 and got a 380,answer was same thing. Next went to a motor place in Fla. and asked for a speed 400 and label covered the can and it was a 380 motor. I have a small boat tach showing rpm and the 400-7.2 and the 380 had exactly the same rpm. Suggestion is get a straight speed 480 and you have to cut alittle but worthwhile, only a suggestion and what happened to me, am retired and enjoying it.
