i sent in my esc and motor and they got it on about February 15th. just called again today to see the status and they shipped back my motor since its in good condition but they are on backorder with the esc's. great product and service there..... i called last week as well and they hadnt even looked at the esc yet, took them a month to just check it out.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
so upon further investigation, the leads going into the esc from the motor are starting to melt a little bit. heat shrink on the leads are gone and the case of the esc is starting to melt. so im prob gonna get a mamba max pro kit and send this stock stuff back to hpi to keep as a back up or other project in the future

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
some of my antenna is missing from the truck flipping and snapping off the tube. I know the wire doesn't go all the way up the tube but some of the wire at the bottom is shredded. I'll get pics later. also, my esc really is having tons of issues and making the car not always drive when I want it. is there a way to reset it or do I really just have to replace the esc soon? EDIT this is with a fresh battery (2s 5200mah lipo) http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/lilrootrx7/?action=view¤t=fb0f5673.mp4 http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/lilrootrx7/?action=view¤t=a22d7a9f.mp4 I also pulled the motor out and tried it to make sure it was nothing in the drivetrain and same result, motor wont really turn over. and I did the esc set up procedure again. emailed hpi and waiting to hear back

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: hereticgod And reut1 If you hit the gas and you are getting nothing from the motor and then it kicks in that's electrical not mechanical. My esc started doing that before I swapped it out.
well i kinda figured that it was electrical because of that issue, but the clicking i was hearing definitely would be more mechanical. I opened up the tranny tonight and it all

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
been having some issues with the tranny last two runs. lots of crunching and clicking when I try to take off with it. and just now sometimes I will hit the gas and nothing will happen. i have to go throttle on and off a few times before it'll start to really move. gonna pull out the motor and all tomorrow and see whats what

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
well i got the motor out and reset the pinion. ran it for another 5 min and it came loose again. putting loctite on the grub screw this time and really going to crank down. mesh actually does look fine so its just a matter of trying to keep that damn pinion on. i just cranked down on it to the point where my allen clicked (maybe messed up the grub head) but hopefully itll stay put now.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
okay well I ran the truck for like 10 min because I figured that ggrinding I heard was something to be broken in and now I got no power. the motor seems like its spinning but either the spur is stripped out or the pinion came loose. no smoke ffrom the sspur or anything so looks like I got wrenching to do already... :( right now the truck rolls without resistance liked nitro does. but before it did not roll like my past electrics did. there was obviously an issue. I'll get free parts from hpi I'm sure since the truck had such a short time of driving before a tranny breakdown

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
okay so i got my savage last night and when i just roll it around on the ground it seems like something is almost grinding/binding up in the drivetrain. each differential rolls smoothly when the truck is in the air but when i push it forward with all tires on the ground it doesnt coast as easy as my nitro rustler does or my mini-t did. is there something i gotta adjust before running it or this just the way the truck is

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
i know i saw this a while back in the thread but I dont want to re-read all the pages for the answer. Im very tempted to get back into RC with this truck and i cant remember if ti was recommended that the battery leads come out the end of the pack or out of the top of the pack. what is preferred for the battery box?

possibly buying a new engine
so ive been out of the hobby for a few years but i am just getting back into it somewhat. ive got a nitro rustler with an OS .15 CVX which for whatever reason i could never get to run right. thought i did the break in procedure correct but who knows, maybe something went wrong. Just cant get it to stay idling through a hole tank, maybe fuel is old at this point or something. Anyway maybe just the motor isnt good and i should pick up a new one. I still have my original trx pro .15 which i could trade into traxxas for the 3.3 or i could pick up an OS .18. Which one would be recommended or what do you think could cause my isses of this one not running well. I gotta keep the idle screw WAY open to keep this thing idling decently. and i put the needles all back to factory settings for the time being. or ill just re-abandon my nitro and go back to the mini-electrics that i used to have fun with before selling them

RE: Official NITRO RUSTLER thread!!
So after years and years of abandoning the hobby im getting back into it slowly after seeing a new friends heli. I sold all my other cars back in 05 (mini t and micro rs4, huge regret selling those!) and i kept my rustler. could never get the motor to run all that well for whatever reason but im back to try it again. for mods that i can remember. RD racing CF upper chassis, front and rear shock tower and brake disc new main chassis (cant remember manufacturer) Traxxas big bore shocks/(cant remember spring maker) proline dirt hawg tires OS CVX.15 motor with team associated pipe and aftermarket head cheap hitec remote (had a real nice 3 channel FM but sold that too) honestly I cant remember what else might be on here. Im debating upgrading my old trx pro15 that i still have lying around to the 3.3 and upping the old trx remote to the 2.4ghz. will cost around $200 or so for all that. OR i might try and make this work and buy an hpi cup racer to build up or a new traxxas rally. the electrics were always much nicer to me and i loved the mini scale ones. enjoy the pics!
