RE: THE LOUNGE 3...
ORIGINAL: Lunchboxer Casper, you miss your old STi, right?! Check it out, new for 2010.. STi Special Edition w/ JDM Spec C suspension and wheels.. for $2,000 less than the regular STi!! NICE!! http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/impreza-wrx/stise/index.html
Wow LB! Quite a find there. I was semi displeased with the GR STi. I ended up driving 2 of them before my parents settled on a 2010 WRX. They lucked out and ended up with a very aggressive tune. They seemed a lot more refined then what I was used to. My 06, well.. Lets just say is a little raw. Haha! I guess like that they are trying to target some track guys rather then the "older" STi crowd. On a side note, I've been out of the lounge for quite some time due to a tad loss of interest I guess. But I did end up getting my LSP build together. Mamba Monster and 6S. Man, that things fun. Anyways! Just checkin in!

RE: What do YOU think is the all-time BEST LOOKING car/truck/SUV?
No sir! Stock BPV for me! Its satisfying enough. Theres still turbo noise and a TSSSSSSS sound off throttle, but it vents to the intake so its actually efficient!

RE: What do YOU think is the all-time BEST LOOKING car/truck/SUV?
Yup, DOHC. Except its setup a lil differently, it has 2 cams on each head. Being that their boxers. I absolutely love mine. I love that these guys with 600+ whp STI's still have a reliable engine after it all.

RE: Post your car's 1/4 mile times
Well that website says 2006 Subaru WRX STI 4.5 13.0 MT Dec '05) for my car. That is stock I suppose? I knew that my 0-60 was in the ballpark of 4.5 but never wondered about the 1/4. I would guess with my mods I'm in the mid to high 12's. Being that I have never actually taken it to the strip I don't know an actual time for you guys. Also, like foxy said, take into consideration that this isn't at all what the STi is made for. [:D]

RE: what do you have under the hood???
The funny thing is, just to buy, mount and make everything work he would have almost the price of a used STi engine. The stock turbo alone is like $1400. More power to you man, the STi is a beast. [;)]

RE: Let's hear what you have for the 1:1 real car??
ORIGINAL: mechanizeddeath
ORIGINAL: HJJFFFAA It ain't my decision. When I get my license I'm going for an STi. I wonder what that will cost to insure.
haha... A lot. [:D] Probably not the best choic for a first time driver, but that's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong: teh Subies are great cars for young people from the standpoints of durability, reliability, and safety. but the STi and to a lesser degree the WRX are really too much car, performance wise, for someone just starting out. I've loved Subarus since the days when the spare tire sat on top of the engine and they were the laughing stock of the automotive world, and I'm glad the STi is popular, but I have reservations with the power being put in such young hands. On Subaru forums, young people with an STi are sometimes seen as a donor - either for their engine or for something less pleasant to think about.[X(][X(][X(] I guess I can't talk though. I tried, and failed, to get a 5.0 Mustang when I was 19. [&:] I would suggest a standard Impreza, or if you're hungry for a bit more power, a Legacy GT. Either will offer the ease of AWD along with lower insurance. Or if you're feeling creative, are handy with cars, and want something unique, you could build an STi swapped GC Impreza or BD Legacy. Anyone who does that has my blessing! [:D]
I whole heartedly agree with Mechanized, although you may think that the STi is the best car for your money at the moment. It isn't. Not only from a insurance standpoint but from an upkeep standpoint. This is coming from an STi owner my self and I had to buy summer tires for it this week and they cost a little over 700$ for the set. Oil is expensive, high quality synthetic is preferable. You get my point. As for you not having a whole lot of driving experience, it may not be the best first(driving on your own) car. I would, as Mechanized said, look into an Impreza or something of the sort. You would have the best of both worlds. The Imprezas are sporty and pretty powerful yet you get most of the look of the STi.

RE: worst cars ever thread
I completely agree, there is a difference between a ricer Civic and an STi. *cough**cough* [;)][:D] The word Import is soooo widely used for so many definitions. In reality, a Ferrari is an Import to the US. I'm just making a point.

RE: shifter knob?
Is the knob you bought threaded? Does it come with a bunch of thread adapters? Do you care about the stock knob? See where I'm going here? Its up to you but as long as you think you have the right adapter for the thread. I would take the knob off as well as the glue and thread the new one on? Are you sure that they glue them too?

RE: shifter knob?
Most are a threaded shaft. I just replaced the shifter knob in my Subaru and it was a threaded shaft. My sisters Toyota Tacoma is a threaded shaft also. Try unscrewing it and if it seems like its not going to unscrew then stop. My best guess is that most are threaded. I have yet to see one thats a set screw or something weird.

RE: Energizer VS Duracell
First of all why not go with a hobby grade pack? You can still build it and it will last a lot longer. Lastly, if you must get normal batteries. I have had great experience with the rechargeable Duracell batteries..

RE: THE LOUNGE 2
I had a thought Eman, if your planning on going brushless with the E-savy then beadlocks might not be the best idea. I don't have experience with Maximizers however with the other beadlocks I've had, popping beads was a problem. With a ballooning tire E-savy that might be more of an issue. Just a thought. Like I said I don't have experience with Maximizers, they may hold beads very well.
