RE: F8U-1A Crusader 6mm foam
Indeed the F8U was a great looking and exciting jet. I built this one from scratch and after many exciting flights on it, she crashed due to my over confidance. I continued to try and get more and more speed until it just became too much for me I guess.

RE: 6mm r/c jets
Sure your not thinking of 6mmflyrc.com ? They do have some really nice kits. Bob

RE: F8U-1A Crusader 6mm foam
Thank you! The maiden flight went well, good performance and speed but the Super Park Jet was very hot after the flight. I am going to replace it with the Super Mega Jet from Grayson Hobby for the next flight. I began decorating it so it now looks a little more like an F-8. Bob [image][/image]

F8U-1A Crusader 6mm foam
For years I've wanted to build a scale RC Crusader but very few kits have been available, only one that I recall actually looked like a Crusader and it had some issues as I recall. A Crusader was designed to be somewhat unstable to enhance its fighter capabilities and it did indeed. The downside to that effert made the Crusader a handfull to operate at low speeds and landing. All that aside the Crusader is an awesome looking and fast jet. Recently, I have recreated the Crusader using 6MM foam and am ready to test fly the prototype (see attached). This model is approximetly 1/13 scale, 44" long and 28" WS, its all up weight is 24oz. with a 3S 2200mah Lipo. I have calculated the forward CG to be 5.25" aft of the leading edge at the Fuse., the jet has a large CG envelope and I want the first flight to be as stable as possible. I'm using a Super Park Jet, 7x5 prop and 25 amp SC. My power choice is the Grayson Mega Park Jet but I wanted to retain the least amount of weight for the test flight. Initial concerns I have include the Stabilator that incorporates a CF tube and axel with brass bearings and an internally mounted servo. There is a little slop in the axel untill power is applied and then it appears to dissapear, strange. Any failure here will be bad so I will attempt to reenforce the axel with a pin prior to the test flight. I welcome any suggestions or comments. The finish is not complete so excuse the lack of detail at this time, I will enhance that after the first flight.

Grayson Hobby
Recently I ordered batteries from Grayson Hobby and they were never shipped. The only contact method they have is vie a ticket generation, no direct email or telephone. Upon generating my second ticket requesting them to cancel the order and refund my money, the responded that the order would ship that day, this was two weeks ago. I am hoping someone in this group may have experience dealing with Grayson Hobby and might share that information. Bob

RE: What airplane would you like to see kitted at .40 or .60 size?
A scale version of the never kitted AD-5 Skyraider, the true work horse and meanest looking of the vasy variety of the great flying Skyraider. For the builder, the AD-5 offers many interesting paint options and personal add-on's that would make this an excellent building choice. See attached.

RE: Precision Aerobatics Extra 260 problems??
I have struggled with the best CG on my Katana MD as well. After many test at every CG position in the 95-101mm range, I have found that High Alfa works well Between 101 to 103 with 103 being difficult to land and a handfull above 50% power, and pattern style is best at 97 or 98mm. Keep in mind I haven't been doing this very long so Daniel from PA may have better information. If you haven't checked out his videos on the How To section of the PA website you should. Have fun!

Wait until you see the power output from that weight.

They are shipped out of Georga and I get my orders in two days. You ordered online from the US site right? You should have received an order receipt and shipping notice, if not call Steve(U.S. Representative) at 770-292-9122 or email at USAsupport@precisionaerobatics.com, he is very responsive. Bob

RE: Precision Aerobatics Extra 260 problems??
That battery will work fine, I think the PA 2200mah 20c 3cell weighs 168gr. I am getting between 10 and 15 minutes per flight on the PA batt.

RE: Precision Aerobatics Extra 260 problems??
I have no doubt that it fly's good with that set-up. I am pretty new at this as well and flying at slower speeds with solid control makes it a lot easier. Your set-up would likely work well on the new 58" Extra. I do like they way your plane looks, very impressive. Bob

RE: Precision Aerobatics Extra 260 problems??
The plane looks great , I like that color and layout. I am puzzeled with your power set-up, at 38 oz. flying weight you are 5 oz over the design weight by about 13%. As I said earlier, my biggest problem has been using too much power in high alfa manuvers, around 50% throttle, around 15amps with a 13 x6 prop. Between half and full throttle the thrust increases to about 90oz, 3 to 1 power to weight. I am using the Thrst 30 and PA 45 amp ESC and the PA 2200 3 cell. My flight times are between 10 and 15 minutes. Initially, I used the Power 15 and Eflite 45, the weight and size of the controller was an issue for me, I was shocked with the power difference upon changing over to the Thrust 30. Bob

RE: Precision Aerobatics Extra 260 problems??
Actually, I have the Katana MD and at and above a 45deg AOA as was suggested, the wing rock stops. Properly controlling the power to prevent climbing was the next issue to resolve and I finally did. I have tried the Power 15 with an eflight 45 amp ESC and it doesn't compair to the Thrust 30 and PA 45a ESC for both weight and power.

RE: Precision Aerobatics Extra 260 problems??
Thank you Daniel, and btw, I have learned more specifics on 3D flying from your video's in a short time than I have over 1 1/2 years using Real Flight. You have done a fantastic job putting that together. Bob

RE: Precision Aerobatics Extra 260 problems??
Thank you Nick, the problem does go away with a higher AOA but I am going to go over all that you listed to see if it helps, can't hurt. The plane fly's better than anything I have flown including full size and the rocking is the only quark I have found. Bob

RE: Precision Aerobatics announces electric extra 260
I'm using the 13x6.5 prop with the 30 on my Katana MD and it is awesome. The motor shows no indication of heat after each flight.

RE: Precision Aerobatics Extra 260 problems??
I was seeking a solution for wing rock with my PA Katana MD. I get tip stall's while in high alpha attitudes and low power. Basically it rocks back and forth in that attitude only. Is this where you experienced the wing rock? Thanks, Bob

RE: F-8 Crusader, please
Wow! I must be calculating wrong on my much less complex F-8, 35" WS. I calculated what I thought to be a conservitive 30% MAC to be at 11.21" at the Root Cord, am I looking at this wrong? Your first flight appeared to be in good balance until the turn to final. Bob

RE: Spektrum FAILS yet again!
I have been using Spktrum for at least 2 years, both the original DX6 and now a DX7. The first year of use I had several crashes that I blamed on the radio but later found that the problem was servo related. The incident you referance could well be a servo espiceally since other inputs worked.

RE: New motor acting wierd!
I had a similar problem with an AXI motor, it was jumpy and would switch forward an reverse and not gain any consistant power level, it was making me crazy. It turned out to be a cold solder connection on one of the motor leads.
