RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50
Thanks Murphey...........when I bought my set they were on VHS and there were 64 episodes........but I understand that they found the missing ones that were reported to have been burned up in a film storage facility...........but that was later found to be false.........so, I was wondering how many episodes did you receive? Rich.

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50
Murthey, as I mentioned earlier, the LG is back from Down and Locked..........and I cant say enough of the parts and workmanship......simply beautiful work.........they are smooth as silk, sound real!........and retract time is the same as the real thing.......positive lock when up and stowed..........positive down lock with no play what so ever.........I am setting a mock-up for a test, so will include photos later on............so, I guess I better put the pen down and pick up the X-acto knife..........time for some more fun. Rich.

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50
I went with the three peice wing mainly for storage and ease of handling.......I have a van, so transportation is no problem........the center section of wing is one peice including the nacelles and bolted to the fuselage.......wing panels are removable where they meet the nacelles.........the tricky part was how to configure the flaps since they bridged the seperation point......the solution was to hinge two points to the outer wing panels and use a plug-in at the fuselage which provided the third hinge location.......plus, it was also a square plug which also provided drive from the servos.........so really the servos are mounted in the fuselage.............It is illustrated earlier in this thread, but I'am not sure of the page............If you are interested in this modification I will be glad to help ....... Rich.

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50
Murphey, I just realized that I did not answer your question about the power supply to operate the landing gear..........I talked with Mitch in regard to that subject..........and he said, and as you already know, that they were designed to operate on Lithium batteries ranging from 4.8 to 6.0 volts, but they do offer a 6.0 to 8.4 volt option for a small fee...........I told him that I will be using a seperate 9.6V NiCad power supply instead of the receiver batteries which are 6.0V............He said that would be fine as long as I could regulate it below 9.V............I told him I could tap the eight cell NiCad for 7.2 or 8.4V and he said that would be a safe range.........all my lighting operates on 3.0 volts except for the marker Lts and they require 9.0V.........so henseforth the higher voltage..........the battery will be further regulated to provide the necessary 3V. Rich.

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50
Hi Chic.......so glad to hear from you..........the protrusions on the inside of the landing gear forks are jack points with mooring eyes installed......I used 0.375" thick walled Alum tubing (wall thickness = 0.031)......it was ground down on the end to 60 degrees and cut at 90 degrees off that line at a distance of 0.375 from the small end...........the part was then glued half way up the fork blade using fast curing JB Weld.............after curing for 24 hours........... drill a 0.188 hole all the way thru from front to back and install the Sullivan (or equivelant) 2-56 eyebolt (stock number 548)........instead of using the flat nuts that are included with the eyebolts....(.they dont look very realistic).........instead, pick up a package of TC3 2-56 minature locknuts made by "Team Associated".......they are beautiful...........but you may have to go to the model car guys to find them..........as a side note, be sure you remove the paint from the point of contact with the fork and also rought-up the interior surface of the part to be installed.........also, start with a much smaller bit when drilling thru the part installed and working up to the final size of 0.188.............Chic, I have included a few photos...... Rich.

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50
.....The instrument panel will be made of sheet aluminum with cutouts for the instrument bezel and glass lens.......the pointers will be mounted to the instrument face with a shaft to have them standoff and create the feel of depth.......the faces will be made from a negative transparency.....which means that they will be black with clear tic marks and nomenclature.........my reason for this approach is that I want the panel to glow at night, which means using phosphorescent green paint on the back of the guages and back-lighting with UV lights.......the light green paint will show thru the clear as white during the day but will glo green at nite..........the real instruments on the T-50 were illuminated in much the same way.......except they were front-lighted from UV lamps just above the pilots head.... Rich.

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50
......Murphey, here is a pic of the AAF panel we talked about yesterday.........this is a Cad drawing and will be reversed to all black with white and silver nomenclature......notice the fuel valve control box........just the right size to hide the gyro under, and it's at the CG.
