RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
on some of the earlier kits there was a small issue on the elevator delaminating slightly..easy fix....mine was on the top of the elevator where the elastic hinge is...like i said though this was i think only on the first kits....

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
you are absolutly correct...the way dave lands the plane is the correct method....i never start raising the nose until about 4 feetwith about quarter throttle or so .once i reach ground effect power off completly...lands very slow....i seen the video of the snap on landing the flare was way to soon and nose was way to high...thats why it dropped a wing ...you know there are so many techniques that can be used to do nice landings...the way i descibed is what works well for me....

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
perfect!!!! that exactly how i fly mine.. i dont start raising the nose until ground effect..one wing length...important thing i find with jets is not to balloon them..thats when most bad landing will accur. i use about 45% expo on a medium rate...lands very nice...i think any tip stalls if any are comming from wrong cg or flareing way to high when landing, killing all the airspeed..all in all i found slowing it down enough was the only thing that i did in the beginning...i found 4inchs of flaps was the ticket ,no crow...i am not questioning anybodys expierience just saying this is what works for me...pat

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
basil you fly very nice...the flash is very slick...at the bowie field its hard to get a nice low aproach without gaining alot of airspeed...i have been spoiled at hamburg pa field 2500 feet grass no trees..hahaha..let me know when you fly...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
basil not bad at all.. it will slow down much more. try doing lower flatter aproaches...try to get it to drag in...dont worry it has no bad habits ...i know at pgrc you have to loose lots of speed because of the tree line...go to dcrc and fly it...you can slow it up like a boomer...again great job basil!!!

i flew mine with 120sx.. to me was perfect..8 minute flights plenty of full throttle and plenty for landing.. i wouldnt put anything bigger then a 140 myself...though if someone wants to go 180 then it will be interesting ....

I tell you I am using one in my ultra lightning...no doubt it will fit and fly perfect..its he fuel econemy...I bet 4 or 5 minutes will be it...my lightning is almost empty at 8 minutes... I guess you can lower the thrust down to 30 lbs or so ...

RE: Composite-ARF Lightning Build Thread
the ultra lightning is a big heavy plane which you should notcut power until one wing length.. i always hold about a quarter on until i get into ground effects.. the sink rate can be decieving with this plane..it will sink fast with power off...this plane love to do 3 pointers on landing... all in all its the best plane i have ever flown ....

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
ok maybe that was...name is very close..haha... i messed with differant flap settings for awhile,, the field i was mostly flying at was short field with trees in front but open on both ends.. need to lose altitude and be able to keep the nose down and not gain alot of airspeed...the big flaps really help...now if your doing low flat approaches throttle management is a must.. i just watch the sink rate and use throttle as elevator...i never start raising the nose until i hit ground affect at one wing length...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Ok about wieght concerns...there is no lead required with this plane with stock pipe...I used the 120 sx stock pipe..batterys in the front sides...slight nose heavy....just like I like it...first flight just slight up elevator trim....great airplane ..it needs nothing fancy...

just pulled the trigger on a white and orange reaction x......will be powered with the new jetcat 140rx...duralite batterys and powerbox..jr8711s all around...this is going to make a great short fielder...i figured i go with larger motor for the smaller fields...i have flown many reaction but never owned one...cool plane...
