RE: P-38 Ziroli designed, built and aluminum plated by Metal-morphous
JohnVH looks like you haven’t seen a Morphed aircraft up close,,, I have had both FM and MM planes and IMO the Morphing is number one in durability, no wrinkles or air bubbles and its endless what you can do with textures and grains.. I wouldn’t go any other way.

Ron I was in your area Saturday and stopped in to see your P-38,,,, Hope you dont mind but you know me with P-38s[:D] I talked with Jose and was shown how you set up and use the straight edges you make. All I have to say is MAN you have patience!!! I now can really appreciate the work that goes into these works of art that you make and why it takes you so long to get one finished. The detail is unbelievable, picture don’t show half of what you have done.. Nice work. Not to change the subject but Jose said that the F-100 is scheduled to be back at Metamorphous, he didn’t go into much detail but did say it needed some repair [X(] Can you elaborate?

Ron NO WAY THAT F-100 IS A MODEL!!!! Come on tell us the truth, you took a picture of the full scale didnt you.!![;)] That is off the charts,,, drop dead gorgous!! Now if it only had props[:D] You must have nuts of steel to go at that nice finished alumium on your lightning with a solding iron [:D] I guess it takes a steady hand, something I dont have. Ron I have two questions, first how do you know where to put the panel lines and second have you ever made a mistake with the soldering iron and if so how do you repair it now that you have the finished aluminum.

HELLO>>>>> ANYONE HOME? OK Ron it’s been sometime since your last update. I stopped by MM last week but your office personnel said the whole shop was on site polishing out a large job and you would be back on the 1st. Renee would not let me in the shop to see your morphed lightning with no body there, so I guess I will have to wait for some pictures. Rich

I like them in the aluminum finish but I think they were painted on the full scale birds. Rich

The price is not bad when you figure in the labor and materials it takes to get this kind of a quality aluminum finish. I just sold off a few of my other planes and promised Ron my first born[:D] But seriously I did not have the time, talent or patience to work with the other products that are available and once you have seen a polished out Morphed plane you can justify the cost IMO

Charles I can tell you one thing first hand,,, this is no paint!!!! its real aluminum and you will not find one wrinkle or air bubble in the finish. Another nice feature of MM's process is the finish is durable, hard to the touch, I'm sure Ron will kick in with more info.

OK I couldn't wait to see more pictures so I stopped by Metal-Morphous Inc. on Saturday just to see if anyone was there. To my surprise Ron was and working on the lightning [:D] I took some pictures and let me tell you guys that the pictures you have seen do not do this bird justice!! In person this thing is gorgeous[8D] Once I stopped drooling Ron explained what is next for the lightning. The panel line are next,,,,,, I would be petrified to take a hot soldering iron to this but he and his crew have done this many times. Ron thanks for spending some time with me I know you had a lot to do. Rich

Ron your P-38 has got to be the most beautiful lightning I have seen,,,,,,, The aluminum looks fantastic and I read that you still have a few more polishing sessions left to go[8D] If sounds like your doing research to start the detailing, I was just thinking that you can use the Yellow Lightning as a guide as to the location of some of the panels. Im looking forward to seeing more pictures soon. Rich

RE: P-38 Ziroli designed, built and aluminum plated by Metal-morphous
I stopped by Metal-Morphous yesterday and from what Joe showed me there is no way Ron's lightning would be ready for WRAM. One thing I have learned about him is that he would not show it until the last rivet was in place. I did get to see that canopy and all I can say is that pictures don’t do it justice. His attention to detail is unbelievable, I had to put on my reading glasses just to see the screws and they are laid out like soldiers. I also saw the elevator and rubbers that are now aluminum and they too look like art work. Ron was away on business so I didn’t get a chance to talk to him but Joe did say that it would be another 8 to 10 months of work to get the list of details completed on the P-38, then it will need all the mechanics installed. You would think 10 months to be a long time to get a model plane ready to fly but once you see this thing you will understand. Keep up the good work Ron and I hope to see more progress soon Rich

It still amazes me to see this process and you can’t get better aluminum finish in my opinion. It’s a flawless finish, no wrinkles, air bubbles, heavy over laps or an unrealistic grain look. Keep up the good work Ron, I'm looking forward o seeing this one in the air. Hey I was just wondering if that V-12 engine would be a scale for your Z-P38? Man that would not only look fantastic but the sound of 2 V-12s would even bring the jet guys to their knees[:D]

Ron I haven’t been to Metal-Morphous in awhile and I stopped in yesterday but you were not in, but I did talk to Joe and saw the P-38...WOW!! it looks beautiful and its only in primer. I can’t wait to see it morphed in aluminum. From what I could see it looks like it might be getting very close getting metalized. Joe said you finished the top side but still had some work to do to the bottom and then it needs a few more prep steps before the aluminum is applied. I will try to stop in again before the holiday is over. Rich PS I didn't see the yellow P-38 you bought back from me, did you sell it already?

RE: Yellow P-38 build thread
Thanks Sam for taking the time to explain that for me. Having hidden control rods is something I have wanted on my Z- P-51 that is being plated at Metalmorphous but didn’t see a way to do it that was'nt complicated. Your method looks great and I would like to do this on my plane. I have just 2 more questions if you don’t mind. Am I right to assume that the black plastic tube is bonded to the aileron and have you used this method on another plane with success, I have read that some planes with hidden linkage have had crashed due to flutter. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Yellow P-38 build thread
Sam could you help me out here, I see how the tube is attached but I don’t see how it operates the ailerons, is there a fulcrum in the trailing edge? Sorry for not being able to see how this works, I'm a little slow in the engineering department but I like the concept.

RE: First Metal Morphed Plane takes to the air!!!
That is a great video!!!! I must have watched Ron's F-86 about a dozen times, man that plane looks solid in flight and your flying it just the way I like to see them flown "SCALE " After seeing the video Ron I can see that my Lightning is going to be in very good hands. That landing was perfect!!!! Congratulations on not only owning some of the most outstanding planes but on your skill as a pilot. You have my attention and I look forward to seeing more of your planes in flight. Another question I remember being asked Ron was, if the aluminum morphed planes are hard to see in the air? I have a Z P-51 being morphed and haven’t decided on a color scheme yet and visibility was a contributing factor. Rich

RE: Desert Jet Storm 2008
Great pictures and looks like you all had a fantastic time,, Arizonasun25- That is hands down the most beautiful F-86 I have ever seen. I had the opportunity to see that work of art before and after it was morphed at Metal-Morphous, Inc. Once I saw that I new it was the only way for me to go on my Ziroli P-51 mustang, it’s there now being Baptized in aluminum and cant wait to see it finished. I followed Coopers build thread on your Saber but once it was finished I didn't know what happen to it, I see it’s in good hands and looking outstanding. The picture below is another plane completeted that I saw at MM's and they have been working on a secret project that I was asked not to take any picture of it, but someone out there is getting a B-24 plated and it just as nice as the other planes they work on. You wouldn't happen to have any video of that work of art in motion would you? Sure would like to see that.

Ron I saw that P-47 at the Smithsonian and you did a wonderful job on your rendition of it. I would think that the yellow must help in seeing the model in the air and having the black and white stripes on just the bottom of the wing is an easy way to see if the model is inverted or not at a quick glance, but the glare from that polished out aluminum must be hard on the eyes[8D]
