RE: Eflite P-47
ORIGINAL: cubnpede82 Hello all, I read in a forum somewhere that E-flite was unhappy with the sales????? I dunno bout that, but I think my LHS has one left, out of five, so I'm tryin' to save them pennies!!! Hope it's not gone for good! We should all call or email Horizon and ask them to re-release the P-47 in a silver color pattern. Special Platinum foamie LOL with the Sea Fury retracts. I think that and the GWS P-40 will be my next 2 WWII birds. On power setups, I just put a KA22-20L in my GWS T-6 and on APC 10-7SF it flies with plenty of authority, @ about 25A WOT static. I think I'm gonna be getting at least 2 more of these from donsrc.com Anyone know if a prop like this pulls more/less Amperage at airspeed? just curious, I have a 30A ESC and this power setup was like $59 I am using WOW RC 11.1 LiPo that I got at a LHS for $40, they're on an E-Bay store too, but I can't remember the name right now. I think I'm gonna try a battery from HC and see how it goes. then...... My buddy has the P-47 with Park 450 and on 11x5.5 it flies pretty good, just not so much on the speed eh?? Hey Guys, have fun
That's the same motor that hobbycity sells for $17.00 Look here. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2106 The best prop for that motor is an APC 10x5e prop. That's the same motor and prop that I have on my P47 and it flies great.

RE: Hobbico Electristar Select EP Trainer RTF
You best bet would be to use 2 of either one of these 2 in parallel: https://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2133 https://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6244 or 1 of these: https://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4129 And you can use one of these chargers: https://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2055 or https://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5549 I use 2 of the first battery pack(2200mAh 4S) wired in parallel and get around 10-12 minute flights.
ORIGINAL: areeves1950 I just put mine together yesterday , she looks great and i agree for 183 bucks it is hard to beat. I didn't get the set screw for my prop shaft. I called them and they are mailing one monday. I am going out this morning and see if i can find one at the hardware store any way. even thought the weather sucks i wanted to taxi around the driveway. we need to keep this thread alive it is a good source of info. areeves1950
I replaced my prop adapter with this one. RE: Hobbico Electristar Select EP Trainer RTF
All I did was remove the 2 battery connectors coming from the ESC and just use one. Connect (solder) the black wire that comes from the ESC (Electronic Speed Control) to the - on a deans ultra plug and the red wire to the + on the deans plug. Then you can use a single 4000mAh (14.8V) 4S lipo or two 4S (14.8V) 2000mAh or two 4000mAh (14.8V)4S lipos with a parallel connector. Or you can also use two 2S(7.4V) 4000mAh lipos in series. Series connection doubles the voltage and a parallel connection doubles the current and mAh of the 2 batteries. Also make sure that the batteries that you use have the proper C rating.

RE: Hobbico Electristar Select EP Trainer RTF
The outside hole is bigger because they did that at the factory when they put it together. All servo and control horns usually have the holes a little small so you can open it to whatever size you need depending on the wire pushrod size or clevise you use. Are you trying to increase or reduce the throws? Moving the pushrod in on the servo arm reduces throw and moving the pushrod(clevise) in on the control horn increases throw. The Hobbico Electristar has screw in clevises at the control horns for easier adjustment.

RE: Hobbico Electristar Select EP Trainer RTF
Use a small drill to make it the same size as the one you're currently using or make the hole bigger with an exacto knife blade. Stick the tip in and twirl it around. Only do a little bit at a time and check for fitment.
ORIGINAL: AceOfHearts I just did a closer inspection of the motor. I turned it by hand and noticed a small but noticeable rattling sound in the backround. I am sure it is comming from insde the motor. No visual damage. I could not tell before as it feels smooth to turn, and the rattling sound is fairly descrete. I am immagining with an RPM high enough (when the motor is on) this somewhat rattling sound becomes really great resulting in the loud annoying sound and vibration. Looks like I have to order another motor...
I'm getting mine back together with a new fuselage. I nosed into the ground from about 50 ft after a giant light pole jumped in front of my plane. When I revved up the motor it also made a terrible grinding noise like you're describing. After a closer inspection I realized that the front motor bearing was messed up. I just ordered a new set of front and rear bearings for the motor from Ebay. The front bearing here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260085763815&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016 Rear bearing here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260164113189&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016

RE: Hobbico Electristar Select EP Trainer RTF
You can either get a new one from Towerhobbies or very carefully cut away the old fuselage from the vertical fin. The fin goes in about an inch into the fuselage. Cut away slowly and sand off the remaining glue and pieces of wood that are remaining. If you mess up you can always buy a new tail fin set.

How many amps are you running with that set up? So you're using a 12x6 slow flyer APC prop and a 6.6:1 gear ratio in the Cobri GB?
ORIGINAL: LDM very nice work .I have this plane and mine is very simple with no real mods except some diet issues . 1)hollow out air vent to hold 11.1/2100 thunder power battery in top of fuse vs normal battery compartment 2)add 1/4 strip of velcro to new battery compartment and battery this helps hold it in place 3)only used expoxy to reinfoce landing gear area , no wood added 4)dropped plastic wing bottoms , used clear tape to hold all wires in , saved over 1.5 ox in weight 5)used a cobri gear box , 12/6 prop two versions -1 high performance apc , and 12/6 apc park flyer flatter looking more flex - performance was better on the flatter high flex prop because it has more of a boat -paddle effect cutting thru the air 6)added small velcro inside cowl to remove for battery access 7)performance , better then most of my 90 size glow warbirds , flight time , too long , I get tired first at very fast speed before its get tired of me lol . 8) take off from ground , no wheel needed at all
What gear ratio are you using in the Cobri GB? What's the amp draw? Is the prop an E or SF(slow flier)? I just bought 2 cobri gearboxes and wondering what set up to use.

I'm not sure what the stock gear box ratio is. I'm using the same motor but with a Himax gear box with a 5.33:1 gear set with a 10x7e APC prop and a 2100 mAh 3S lipo. Guys at the park say she flies pretty quick and it's faster than another guy that has one with a Park 450 BL with the stock prop. Check your amp draw with a watt meter just in case.

RE: Great Planes Rimfire 42-40-800 brushless motor
Yeah I saw that but I just weighed the motor that I have and it's 215 grams with only the bullet connectors and the rimfire 42-40-800 is supposed to be 125 grams. I read that the motor that comes with the Hobbico Electristar is the Rimfire 42-40-800 ,or just like it, but the weight is way off. The motor just has a sticker on it that says Hobbico.

Great Planes Rimfire 42-40-800 brushless motor
I have a Rimfire 42-40-800 and 45A ESC left over from my wrecked Hobbico electristar. What other motor from the more common brands is this one comparable to? I want to use this power system on a sport or scale plane no bigger than 55" WS but I don't know what to look for. What size props and 3S or 4S? Is there any place that has the specs for this motor with different size props and 3S or 4S lipo? Thanks

DX6 Flaperons set up
How do you adjust the travel adjustment for the left aileron servo when using the flaperon feature? I have it set to flaperon mode, right aileron servo in aileron port on reciever, left aileron servo in the AUX port on reciever. Flap switch set to zero on both positions so I can't activate the flaps by mistake. When I select travel adjustment for aileron I can adjust the right aileron but how do you set the travel adjustment independently for the left aileron?

RE: DX-7 (ailerons...two servos...two channels)
but how do you set the travel adjustment for the left aileron? When you go to the travel adjustment screen the right aileron can be independently adjusted up and down but if you go to flap adjustment, both the right and left aileron move up and down with the adjustments. Can the left aileron be independently adjusted on the DX6?

All you really need is some packing tape along the leading edge of the wing. It'll cover any holes like that and avoid any future ones.
