RE: DX7 & AR7000 setup constantly loosing bind but not a Spektrum issue???
Thank you for the feedback. I will try that as well.

Thanks Andy. We've double checked that that's not happening but it's often something simple isn't it.

RE: DX7 & AR7000 setup constantly loosing bind but not a Spektrum issue???
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I'm leaning that way. This is a first in many years of running Spektrum. Next, I will remove the 42% redundant battery system and see if things improve. The power is plugged into the bind/batt port so what you are saying makes sense. Also I think the 42% system fail safe board is always pulling a little juice so it's really always on...need to double check that. These kinds of things get really hard to troubleshoot aside from just replacing all components which is expensive. Have you ever heard of a servo causing a bind loss problem? On my previous 50cc which was my favorite plane ever (3DHS 87" Extra) I had a 2S 5000 lipo short out in flight - the lipo was relatively new too - and I lost the bird. Sucks. So now I'm a die hard dual RX pack fan. I knew it was the pack and not a lockout because 1/2 way through a rolling circle the flippers just went limp as I watched it lawn dart. Anyways, thanks for the feedback and your right on. It should logically be whatever is plugged into the bind/batt port which is the 42% batt share.

DX7 & AR7000 setup constantly loosing bind but not a Spektrum issue???
Hi, Just looking for feedback. I have an issue that just cropped up with my 30%er loosing bind every other flight or so. I am running a DX7 DSM2 with an AR7000. The plane has all Hitec digital servos and dual LiFe rx batts running through a 42% brand fail safe dual switch batt share system. I am also running a WIKE IBEC to power the ignition. The WIKE and most of the servos have been used on another aircraft with no issues. Also, I have switched out both the AR7000 and DX7 on this plane - have spares - to eliminate that from the problem statement. So, it's probably NOT the RX or TX in this case. This is a first for me in years of flying this type of setup. It's weird. It binds fine and is good for a few flights. Then I turn the TX on and then the plane and no lights appear on the RX...unbound... I talked to Horizon and they didn't really have anything to add. My initial thought is something is shorting out the bind plug to the RX where the power/42% switch is plugged in (batt/bind). Tough one to figure out... Any experience or help would be appreciated. Thanks...

RE: Flight (2012 film) - Can airliners fly inverted?
Just face it. No way could that be done. No upside down airliners. They were designed to carry a lot of weight right side up.

RE: Hits and Misses of H-9 Corsair
Guys, I have another question. I have a DLE 20 that I was planning for the Corsair. I know the capabilities of this engine and it's quite powerful for its weight. I also like to fly fast. 120 mph would suit me fine. So, is the H9 Corsair or any of the H9 warbirds for that matter worth the work if you like to fly fast. It looks risky from what I've read. I have no problems reinforcing the firewall, but the wing is not so simple. And please, no lectures about putting a a 60 sized motor or Saito 100 on this bird. I did not buy it to drive it slow. Other options might be to sell and go Top Flight or Black Horse Models. Americanpioneerhobbies has a well-built BH Spit that can handle the speed.

RE: HOBBY king going down the tube?
I kind of agree with buyer beware. I tried out their micro batteries and for a little over 1/10th of the cost of a Thunder Dunder they perform the same. So what if I get a bad one. At a 1.50 they are disposable. A cheeseburger costs more than that. If you buy planes from them you're probably not an experienced pilot or you don't care much about the quality of your flying. I've been in the hobby for 8 years and know how to properly power and setup a terrific flying bird of almost any type....and you don't get that for $99 at HK:) Look, all you have to do is purchase with Visa and or paypal and if they rip you off you have a decent chance filing a claim. I for one, like the fact that someone finally put the heat on TT, Hyperion and Flight Power lipos. They are all superior to HK lipos but they are so overpriced it's ridiculous. We were getting gouged!!! Everydayflyer (Charles) on RCG has done a ton of very objective and professional-level testing of the different brands and in general HK lipos don't hold for nearly as many cycles. They are also generally heavier for the same C rating. But, at their price point, it's worth it for some flyers. If you are not going to push the pack hard or use it that often who cares. I flew my 50CC Extra on 12s at 5k watts and 112 amps on HK lipos and they did just fine. Would they fast charge at 5C like a Hyperion, no. So I sold them in great condition and bought Hyperion. I would never spend that much on HK stuff again but we live and learn don't we. I see the value in a better, lighter, faster charging packs that I can run hard without puffing. Others don't feel it's worth it. Personal choice. You just have to do your homework and know what you want. If you can't tell that a Banana, Nitro or HK aircraft is just a step above an Air Hog you just need a few more years and crashes under your belt. Again, just do your homework and you will be fine in the end. It's not much different than checking Consumer Reports before you buy that new expensive appliance. COMPETITION ROCKS!! HK is not a criminal organization, lol...

RE: HOBBY king going down the tube?
Yep. It's only a matter of time before US companies start ordering mass quantities of Chinese products and selling them really cheap from over here. Even at a slightly higher cost if you could get it faster then 2 months then why not. Look, HK has done us a service and the better their products get the less the competition will have to sell theirs for. I personally like getting high-quality lipos like the Hyperions for less than 1/2 the price I used to. Competition is working...

RE: HOBBY king going down the tube?
Here's the best advice. Before opening anything from HK just drink a 6 pack. Wait 30 minutes and it will all look good. It's all just perspective. Adjust yours and you will love the HK. It's only a matter of time until HK has some more direct competitors and market forces at work will take care of them.

RE: HOBBY king going down the tube?
This is good, keep it up guys:) And yeah, Singapore is not in China for sure lol. So we've all admitted HK is good for some things. I wouldn't buy their crap airplanes. For some applicaions though their little cheap ESCs are really great. Again, it depens on the product and you just have to do a little homework. Just keep in mind that there is no CS. I personally think their implact on the market has leveled out. We'll see. People are learning that a lot of what they sell is not good and what things are actually worth the risk. I have a friend that bought an F15 from Banana that would hardly fly. He then bought a Eurofighter from Hobby People that is awesome. He learned his lesson and will not buy jets from the low-cost places anymore. And that is how the market works. I like high performance so I would never be happy with an HK plane. But, their CA and Xacto blades are just fine. Their low-cost ESCs work and so do their cheap micro batts. Case in point. The market takes care of itself. Look at the Air Hogs stuff that's sold in the local departments stores. PURE CRAP. It doesn't work at all. Same thing there and the market will dictate. Unless HK can match the quality of HH they will never take their market share. And HH will continue with some markup. I'm glad to pay more for a premium product. I like nice stuff. HK has a right not to offer CS. A lot of companies don't. Period. So, the individual must choose. There's really nothing to argue here. They are just a business. Steve

RE: HOBBY king going down the tube?
You know why I don't have problems with HK, because I'm smart. Certain, very low cost items like 160mah batteries for micros for $1.50 are a win-win. So what if you get a bad one in a batch. Just chuck it. But, if you are a proficient pilot you know their planes are crap. I've seen so much of their stuff at the field - including Banana and Nitro - that barely gets off the ground it's comical. Guys say, I paid $89 for this jet and I got 3 flights out of it before the ESC popped and I burned in...and so goes the story. Guys, this Chinese stuff is poorly designed and constructed and flies like total crap. It's not fun to fly, it barely flies, and in general is a waste of money. And if you are into wasting your money or you just suck as a pilot then buy their crap. You deserve it. In general, HK products under-perform. I learned the hard way whey I bought several 6S 5000 packs and two of them were leaking when I they arrived. After yelling at them on the phone - litereally - and threatening to turn them in to their local business bureau - they don't like that - I got new batteries. But, it cost me $20 each to send them back to China and I waited weeks to get new ones. Now I fly Hyperion and am very happy with their products and service. I did get a bad Hyperion once and had 2 new replacement packs to cover my bad one in about a week. NOW THAT'S SERVICE. My last two very small purchases from HK - micro batteries - took close to 8 weeks to arrive and they were in stock when ordered. So yes, their service is getting worse. I really can't believe all of you who have made excuses for the wing damage that the person who started the thread had. It's like you accept poor quality and expect to be ripped off. We'll you deserve to be ripped off cause you're a bunch of suckers. Support US businesses. The mfg. may be done overseas but the money for the higher-quality products by and large stays here. The Horizon line of small planes are terrific and you won't find anything that HK sells stock that comes close to a Parkzone T28 or some of the other bind and fly plane. Yeps, they are twice as much, fly 10 times better and last 4 times longer. And, any time you have questions or need parts HH is just a phone call away. My T28 with a Power 10 does about 90 mph on 4S with the stock ESC and servos and I've been flying it for years. I race mustangs while the HK guys nurse their planes into the air and just barely keep them flying at WOT and call it a bargain. They also crash a lot:(

RE: DLE 55 Ignition Plug Cap Question
Guys, since I have your ear, I have a prop question. And, yes, I've ready every DLE 55 prop thread on all 3 forums. I do my homework. I started with a Vess 22B. Decent speed and pull. Good prop. But, I want more pull and control surface authority = more air. I bought a Xoar 22x10 CF. Great speed, sorry pull. Good for IMAC. I should have gone 22x8 or 23x8. CF is expensive and I'm going to sell the Xoar. Has anyone found the magic prop for this motor? I want speed and pull. I flew with a friend today that has a Reactor with a 55 and a Mej. 22x8. He didn't have the speed but his pull was pretty good. Maybe I'm already there with the Vess but so many people say Mej. is the way to go. Thoughts? Maybe I should start another post. 22x8 or 23x8 and which brand? Oh, it's got to be black:) Thx

RE: DLE 55 Ignition Plug Cap Question
Thanks again for the feedback and I like the last idea. I might use it. I tightened the c-clip that goes around the cap and problem solved. The clip is actually easy to bend so I have no doubt that over time it will loosen a little. My plane ran great today with the exception of my brand new Xoar 22x12 CF prop. Going to sell that one. It's just not what I expected. Thanks again for helping me think this out. Steve

RE: DLE 55 Ignition Plug Cap Question
Thanks guys. I checked again and its ok and there is no way it can come off. I also called DA and they were nice enough to give me some advice = not uncommon and ok. I also just had a brain fart. In that simple plug cap system there is only one thing that is to change - the tension of the c clip. I will bet I expanded it a little the last time I removed the cap. Steve Oh, I do have all of the springs.

DLE 55 Ignition Plug Cap Question
Hi guys, I have a fairly new DLE 55 that I just swapped the plug out for the recommended CM-6 plug. I noticed that after installing this plug that when the ignition plug cap is in locked position, it can, if rotated or pulled, slide down about 2 mm - guessing. There is no way it can come off. But it can move down a smidge. Other DLEs caps I've seen don't budge at all when rotated. W8ye and others with a lot of gasser experience, what's your take on this. Ever seen it before? What I don't get is with the current plug cap design, it seems like it would be hard to maintain contact between the plug and the contact deep in the cap. Any little movement would present a gap and arching. See how much I don't know... Anyways, just blathering at this point. Any help would be appreciated. I can still send the ignition back to Tower if needed. Thanks!!!
