RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70
Does anyone actually have experience with both the reactor and showtime 50? How do they compare? I have a showtime 50 with Saito 91 now that I love. Its starting to show signs of glow getting into the fuse. At some point I will need to rebuild/recover or replace...possibly with Reactor.
ORIGINAL: ZERG ro347, this may help you. I saved this pic a long time ago, but never tried to make one. Looks simple enough to make, and could be sized to fit your own needs. Holds both fuse and wing. This should be the first pic, and the next one may be useful to someone.
Thanks Zerg. Hadn't though of this config.

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70
ORIGINAL: RogerWilson I got the oil out of the balsa by using a hot iron and paper towels on it. I put a piece of clean paper towel over the area in question (the whole bottom of the fuse on this darn thing). I leave the heat/paper towel on the area for 4-5 seconds then move the paper towel over to another clean part then heat that up for 4-5 seconds. It doesn't get all of it out but works really well. I still had to use some CA around the hatch area to get the new covering to stick down.
Thanks!

RE: Transport rack ideas sought
Ive been playing with the idea of making a PVC rack for about 3-4 planes - fuse only - where the planes will stand on their nose and be leaned up against the rack at about 70 degree angle. Any ideas? Tight on space in the garage as I like to actually keep my cars in there... and dont want to get into hanging anything.

RE: saito 91 rpms??
ORIGINAL: SeamusG This stuff is too good for a ''beginner'' forum thread! I have a Saito 91 (ringed) in a 4Star60 with a Zinger 13x6/10. It pulls immediately when I roll on the power. I've swapped it with 13x7 and a 14x4 (giggles-n-grins) one after the other. The plane would just hesitate big time before accelerating when throttle applied. I can imagine if I was about to stall or some other ''unplanned'' flight line problem occurred I'd much rather have the immediate pull of the 13x6/10. Just for the record I'm not talking about going WFO just kickin' it up a couple of clicks. Btw - I did a rebuild thread on a ringed 91 a while back - poor subject ''Saito 91S Lacks Power'' <a href=''http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7628750/anchors_7628750/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#7628750'' target=''_blank''>www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7628750/anchors_7628750/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#7628750
Seamus....thanks so much for the thread. It was very informative. I figured that I should check the timing on my 91. I had taken this engine apart 2 years ago, and not too sure I placed the cam back perfectly. That might explain the 91....but what about the 100? Maybe the timing is off from the factory? Who knows. Well anyway. Thanks again...much appreciated. I will continue to post findings for those who might be interested. I will also check the cam timing on both engines, and report back on any changes.

This is where im at so far in terms of props and rpms: Im a little confused as I thought the Xoar props would give me higher rpms over the APC because they are much lighter. Must be the extra thrust these props give. I always thought my numbers seem low too. Any thoughts? RE: Edge 540T
Aeroworks has said they are working on releasing a 1.20 size edge early in 2010. WildHare RC also has a 1.20 size Edge and an Extra weighting in at 10lbs RTF....which would be great for DL30. Its inexpensive too. Expected sometime this month I believe. If interested in another Extra or a yak even....Pilot RC is releasing a gorgeous Extra through Chief Aircraft made for the DL 30...take a look at Chief's site.

RE: Good looking covering scheme
Take a look at these. Even if you use a roll and have to start over....its a good lesson and works out for a better looking plane. Start on low heat, and pull covering tight....then raise heat a little to get wrinkles out once done. http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=67 http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=726

When opening a roll...you will need to peel off the backing that is on the film being used. It takes practice , however you'll figure it out quickly.

RE: New Funtana 125
ORIGINAL: Burc Guys I just finished mine and it comes in at ~8.8lb dry. Â I am using 9411s on the surfaces, a 2300mAh 6V battery strapped to the wing tube, and a EVO 1.20 and Bisson pitts muffler. Â The EVO is 1oz heavier than the saito 125 with a pitts on. As for the balance, I was able to balance it perfectly the ~170mm mark perfectly with a half tank of gas with no weights added eight off the bat. Since the tank is located in front of the wing tube, the CG will shift around as the tank empties but I remember this was not a real problem with the X100.
