RE: Gee Bee R-2: "Official" Build & "Show-off" thread
Hi Terry, It's powered with an OS FS 91 Surpass II, and that's more than enough engine for this plane. And you're also right about the dummy radial. It's a real nice detail for a plane like this. I read you're planning to cover yours completely in white and then paint the red. Mine was covered completely with white and red oracover (practically the same as monokote) except for the fiberglass parts. Robert

RE: Gee Bee R-2: "Official" Build & "Show-off" thread
Hello, I'm also a great fan of GeeBee's. It's just one of the most beautifull planes ever designed. Here are a few pictures of mine 1/5 Adrian Page GeeBee. Don't pay attention to the ugly Graupner prop. It now has an 15x6 APC, looks much better. Robert

RE: MC-24, no digital trims???
Hi, you're right, the MC-24 has no digital trims. However you can put some extra two-way-switches on it that you can use for digital trimming. Personally I just store my trim-settings after the first flight of a new model, so I can fly any stored model with the trims centered on my transmitter. Works perfect for me. Robert

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
Just back from the airfield. I made 2 succesfull flights with patty and I only can say WOW I'm amazed how slow she can fly without any tendency to snap, and her landings and very smooth And then the sound of the saito boxer, just perfect. I'm looking already forward to the next flights probably tomorrow [:D] Robert

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
Thanks John, I just wanted to line up the cowl exactly with the spinnerbackplate, so that's why I asked. I will put it together the way it is then , and hope that I don't have to adjust it to much Robert

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
Hi guys, I'm still building and I have a question which I can't remember that it has been asked before. Do you have built in some extra side-thrust on your engine because when I look at mine the from the top it doesn't seem to have al lot of side-thrust at all. Have a nice weekend Robert

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
Hey guys, thanks for the quick replies. [sm=thumbup.gif] I haven't started drilling in my cowl,First taped it to the fuselage and then I noticed this difference. I measured twice before installing the engine so I know this is done right. I will buy a spinner which is just a little smaller to see how that will work out, otherwise I will have to lower the engine(which I really don't wanna do), to get a good result!! Robert

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
Hi, today when I was trying to get the cowl on I noticed that when I line it up with the spinnerbackplate that the gap on the lowerside of the spinner is about a few mm's smaller than on the topside. When I try to correct it then my spinnerbackplate isn't lining up anymore with the top of the cowl. It lookes like the engine is to high, although I mounted it correctly. So my question is have you guys build in some extra downthrust on the engine, because this would solve my problem??? Another solution is to use a slightly smaller spinner. Do any of you know where to get a spinner that's made of carbonfiber (light) and already painted white??? Thank you, Robert

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
Hi, I did it!! Just finished reading the 121 pages. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] @ John: I'm still building my patty, so maybe some questions will arise in the next few weeks, but for now I believe all the answers are in this thread. By reading all pages and one's own experience everybody should be able to build the Patty that suits him! By the way I really like the way you mounted the enginecowling. Robert

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying
Hey guys, Last week I bought a patty as well. I've read up to page 90 now on this thread and came across some very good information. I started building already and just hope that I won't make any mistakes which you pointed out in the thread after page 90 [sm=bananahead.gif] Although the DA-50 is propably the best engine for this plane I didn't feel like going for a gas-engine. So I bought a Saito 300 boxer. It will be a little heavierer but will still have enough power to burn some holes in the sky. And I'm not looking for an extreme 3D-machine in the patty, because for 3D I'm flying a Funtana S140 So to all of you, thanks for all the input in this thread , it just makes it easier to build the (almost)perfekt patty in one go. OK, page 91, here we go....... [:D] Robert

RE: Lightening the GP Skybolt
have built a Skybolt a few years ago,and didn't found it to be tailheavy. I use a OS 91 FX and set the CG with the battery on top of the main gear. It came out at 9,5lb So I don't see any reason to lighten it up as it flys really nice the way it is. Then again you're doing a nice job and I'm curious what your final weight will be. Robert

To all, I came acoss a website where you can find a lot of information about the T14,along with a lot of pictures and a lot of screenshots off the different menues. I thought some off you would be interested to read about some of it's new features. For myself I can't wait for it to be available in europe(and yes I know it's gonna be expensive but hey that's why I go to work,so I can buy some cool stuff) http://www.jason.net/heli/helimain.htm Robert

Hi, I cut away the cowling around the muffler and I made some extra holes in the cowling using my dremel. This leaves more strenght to the cowling No problems with cooling. Robert

Hi, I changed only one thing when building mine. I made a more rigid connection between the two elevator-halves bij putting in an extra steel rod between them. Have a look at the pictures and you will know what I mean. Robert

RE: First Biplane Kit build?
My choice would be the Super Skybolt. It's a lot of work to build it, but it looks great. And it's a very easy to fly plane which is also capable of doing aerobatics Robert

RE: Sky Bolt engine choice, input requested...
Hi guys, @wayne: I fly mine with a OS 91 FX and the power is more than enough to do all the aerobatics you want it to do.(except for 3-D flying but there are better planes for that). If you're into 4-stroke I would go for the 1.20 size-engines. Robert

RE: H9 Funtana problem with elevator joiner flexing
Hi there, During building I also found that the two elvator halves-connection wasn't rigid enough and changed it.I reported it a few months ago in this thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2041774/anchors_2045465/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#2045465 Look at the pictures. They are probably clearer than my explanation. RE: Funtana S 40 version 2 ??
Hi there, I have both versions at home. The original hangar 9 and the eurolight-copy.(which they sold me as an original Hangar9-product????) My advise is hands off of the clone. The quality is really bad.The fuselage is twisted.Elevator-halves are wider than the horizontal stab. The covering is poor and it's heavier. And the wingspan is about 4" less. So I haven't flown the V2 and i won't fly it at all. Some people on german forums are reporting some bad flying behaviour as well. IMO better pay 30 euro's more and have the original one. Robert

RE: H9 Funtana pics
Hi guys, here's mine. Powered with an OS 91 Surpass II and APC 15x4W and can hover it with just below half throttle. And the best thing the engine runs fine without using any Nitro(because in the Netherlands nitro is really expensive) Servo's I used are Futaba S9250 on ailerons and S9450 on elevater and rudder.Maybe a little overkill but I can fly it at full throttle without having any signs of flutter. This is the best plane I ever had and are going to buy The Funtana S140 this winter. Robert

RE: show us ur skybolts
Hello Steve, As you can see in the picture the OS FX 91 sticks out the cowl just a few mm. I think you could fly one with 61 as well only the aerobatic performance wouldn't be so good anymore. With the 91 there's more than enough power. And since the weight is the same I would go for the 91. I didn't have any problems with my CG(battery placed on top of the landing gear) Groundclearence with a 14x7 prop is 1,5 inch. Robert

RE: Chip Hyde GeeBee R2 ???
Hi, I'm curious as well, about what they mean with "blooper page" I fly the Page aviation R2 ,and I can only say I love the way it looks.Only landings takes some practice, but that was one off the reasons I wanted to fly one. But I'm planning to move the landing gear forward about 1/2 inch during the winter to prevent it some more from flipping over. Robert

RE: GB Ultimate, or GP Super Skybolt?
Hello Paul, I fly a GP Skybolt for about 5 years now,and I'm very happy with it. It's a very easy to fly plane with a nice landing speed and suited for some aerobatics too. I really like the knife-edge flight with it as well inverted flat spinns. It's even pretty easy to do multiple rolling--circels at low altitude. I can't compare the Skybolt with the GB Ultimate, since I don't have the Ultimate, but in my opinion the Skybolt looks better. I fitted mine with push-pull-cables to elevator and rudder,so no play at all. I use an OS 91 FX and think that's more than enough power for this plane. I built it completyaccording to the manual, and got it balanced without any extra weight. Mine weights 4,3 Kg Hopes this helps in deciding which one you want. Robert
