RE: What is the closest 1:1 vehicle to a 1:8 buggy
You are right, I just thought there was some kind of desert buggy it was based on. It would look crazy 1:1 scale.

I you're putting flea market specials on your $300 car and considering buying a $1000 rc something is wrong. Two things you never skimp on is brakes and tires.

RE: 1/8 conversion help on slash 4x4
That's what I was hinting at, I loved the power in my slash with the mmp 2400kv, but the handling and reliability gets old quick. I ended up selling it and getting about half of what I put into it.

RE: 1/8 conversion help on slash 4x4
You will go much faster than 50 or 60, hell you could do that stock, but you will have so much torque that the truck will tear itself apart. There are countless thread on here regarding the stock drive shafts breaking after a motor/esc upgrade, even the heavy duty MIP and Tekno shaft break and they are very expensive. The power will be too much for the stock slipper, you will be constantly tightening it till it wears and eventually need to buy an upgraded slipper. The wheels hexes will strip and need to be tightened with a socket driver, the plastic motor plate will flex messing up the mesh so you need to go to an aluminum one, the plastic bearing adaptor with melt so you need an aluminum one. When all was said and done I dropped about $1200 on my slash 4x4 and was breaking something every time I when out, sometimes withing 5 minutes. This was with the mmp sct 2400kv system, you are looking at the mmm 2200kv system which is even more powerful. I was rediculous fun to have this much power in a slash but you quickly notice the limitations, like trying to turn at speed and flipping over, flipping over when going fast with the body on (blow over). I sold it and pickup a mugen mbx6 eco with a tekin rx8/1900kv for $870 total (including servo radio and tires). I should have it in a day or two.

RE: 1/8 conversion help on slash 4x4
No mods to make the motor fit but you have to upgrade the motor plate, bearing adapter, slipper clutch, driveshafts and hexs. With the new found speed you will want better shocks to keep up and maybe a switch to 17mm hexes and buggy wheels to keep from stripping the hexes. I did just this on my slash and it was really too much for the truck, required tons of money and maintenance to keep it running at this level. You are much better served just selling your slash and getting a real 1/8 has is made to handle this kind of power, not to mention it will handle a much much better due to the lower center of gravity and they are built tougher.

I pulled the trigger on the mugen last night, with the rx8/1900 system. Sweet deal with the tower hobbies member discount. Now I just need to pick a servo.

RE: New to the hobby...looking for some advice :)
If I was starting again I would have gone straight to 4x4 1/8 buggies instead of a slash 4x4. Once you up the power you reveal the weaknesses. At his point it becomes a money pit. Could have gotten a nice buggy for a lot less.

mugen mxb6 vs hyper 9 vs hyper star e, which to buy?
OK I'm finally going to get into 1/8 electric buggies and need to start with a platform. I'm looking a the mugen, hyper 9 and hyper star. I really love the look of the mugen and the wide chassis(only for the reason that it gives me more room). But the hyper 9 and star are much less expensive, but Ive seen a few ofna models that always break the rear shockbrace/differential case. Im basically going to be using it to bash, it will probably never see a track. I'm just looking for the most durable platform that will hold a 6s battery and take the abuse. What do you guys think?

RE: Looking for a 1/8 basher
I you take the cost of the mamba monster in the vorza $300, you are basically paying $300 for the rest of the car the includes the servo and radio/receiver. That is not bad. My other option was the mugen, but at $400, plus servo $100, plus radio/rx $100 plus monster Mamba $300. We are talking $900.

Looking for a 1/8 basher
I'm in the process of getting rid of my 1/10 truck and getting into 1/8 scale mainly for durability. Right now I have modified my truck so much that I break or strip something every time. So I'm looking at 1/8 4wd electric buggies and was wondering what you guys this is the most durable buggy with good parts support that will handle 6s. I love the vorza but I'm looking for other opinions. It doesnt have to be rtr, a kit would be fine.

RE: Is it time to upgrade from Slash 4x4, Vorza?
I looked those up, not cost effective since they are nitro. I'm looking for solid, beefy, and electric. The situation Im in now is Im making my slash do things it was not meant to do, I dont want to do the same with a 1/8 buggy. I love nitro but Im in NYC and nitro is a no-no here. So far the vorza is still on the top of my list.

What models should I be looking at? I'm looking for durability and insane power, like 6s. Also god availability of parts.

Is it time to upgrade from Slash 4x4, Vorza?
Back in October I bought a slash 4x4 (base model), since then I've upgraded to the mmp 2400kv system, mip xdutys front and rear, kingz head motor bearing holder, revo clutch, proline shocks (with spring kit), RPM arms, bumper and rear carrier, 2.8 trenchers on desperado wheels, jconcept raptor body, aluminum hexes, battery expander kit, anti-sway bars, snappy mmp esc mount, stampede receiver box and outwears cover. I like things to be perfect and I know what I am doing mechanically. I've been in the hobby for 6 years. I exclusively run it on 4s, the power is absolutely crazy, the handeling it fantastic. I feel like I am not too abusive on my RCs but I think I am pushing the limits of the slash. I exclusively use it to bash are parks with jumps and high speed off road runs with the family, they have rc cars too. But lately every time I take my car out I break something within 10-15 minutes. I'll strip a hex, strip a gear, break a body mount, etc... The power and handeling is right where I want it but it's getting a little embarrasing. I've been thinking maybe it's time to upgrade to a hpi Vorza. It looks like it perfect for my style of driving but how is the durability? How is the speed and handling compared to the slash/mmp 2400? Does anyone have experience with both? Any weaknesses in the vorza? I normally dont like the look of 1/8 buggys but the vorza really catches my eye.

RE: Rustler v slash
I have 2 rustlers (wife's and 7 yo daughter's) and a slash 4x4 (mine). I have to say the slash is more durable and easier to drive, in some terrain it's almost impossible to get the rustler going straight. The gears last a lot longer on the slash too.

Need ideas on slash 4x4 MT body
I just got a full set of trenchers mounted on 2.8 wheels with rustler/stampede front offset wheels (desperado)to get some extra width, but I need more clearance than the stock body has to offer. Has anyone dont this? I dont really like the beetle body I've seen some MT slashes using, I want something as close to stock as possible. I've thought about cutting out the fenders or lifting the body but I dont know it will give me enough room. Is there a body that has huge wheel openings that with fit?
