Yeah the TQi is awesome with an iPod/iPhone, I wouldn't give mine up for anything. I've owned Spektrum and Futaba FASST 2.4ghz systems and pretty much every other brand in AM or FM and the TQi with iPod is by far my favorite. I agree with you phmaximus it does feel weird downloading updates for my controller lol.

This has been a common problem with the Slash 4x4, and is why most people swear by the [link=http://www.kingheads.com/product_info.php?cPath=109&products_id=931]Kingheadz motor mount[/link] with the larger bearing. I've been lucky so far, I'm still on the stock one but I know it's only a matter of time.

RE: cheap chinese batteries
ORIGINAL: LaTuFu I question the validity of Traxxas Fanboy's comments that the packs are American Made. I need a source link for that claim. Last time I checked, most everything is produced in Asia. Factories in Korea and Taiwan produce the cells and circuits, factories in China assemble. SPC racing, the closest thing to an ''American made'' battery I know of besides maxx amps has theirs built the same way. All they do is random QC testing on the batches they receive from the contract factory. I question the claims of ANY company that says ''we're the best, period end of story'' charges the highest prices of any product in the market, refuses to provide documentation of their testing claims, etc. And vigorously and viciously attacks anyone who independently tests their products and finds them to be ordinary at best. The unwarranted and abusive attacks on Jang are just the latest example. Jang may not be the end all/be all of the RC world, but he is a very fair and relatively objective reviewer. Most of the time when he tests/reviews a product, he goes into it hoping to see it live up to its hype.  He is normally reluctant to call out something as garbage. For the company to pull the crap that it did to try to hide his results was very telling. Why not post separate tests with different data for people to compare and make their own conclusions? Couple that with user after user after user reporting that they get no better performance out of them than a $35 GensAce or some other ''cheap alternative'' and it is very difficult for me to say this product is worth the extremely high cost.
I agree with everything you said, except Maxamps packs are assembled in the USA, right here in my State of WA actually. The cells come from China but they assemble the packs here. Up until fairly recently they worked out of a Garage, now they have an actual store front, although it's not named Maxamps, it's named Nitro Killers. Edit: I found the pics I was looking for. Here's some pics of the Maxamps garage, and their new store front. I'm not sure if they assemble the packs in the new store or still in the garage. If you read though it you'll find the battery was not new, in fact it was sold 2nd hand to the reviewer. How am I meant to take a review seriously if the product being reviewed

RE: cheap chinese batteries
ORIGINAL: Traxxas Fanboy
ORIGINAL: proanti1
ORIGINAL: Traxxas Fanboy MaxAmps make the best batteries in the business. You really do get what you paid for. Some of the extra money you spend on MaxAmps goes to assembly and manufacturing costs which are higher if you are doing it in America and the rest is for the grade A cells they use. I can understand not everyone has the money to spend on them but if you think the extra money spent doesn't get you an all round better battery you're wrong. As far as I am concerned any tests that I have heard of done on MaxAmps batteries in the public arena were not done on a brand new battery and weren't tested at high enough loads to properly test the C ratings so they can't be taken seriously.
Charging triple what the cells are actually worth does not make them better. What 'assembly and manufacture' costs are you talking about? A sticker? A Deans plug? A plastic hard case? Cheap batteries also have these.
I agree with you, charging the price they do isn't what makes them better, it's the grade A cells they use. How much do it think it costs to pay an American to put together a battery vs what it costs to pay someone in China to do it? I'm sure MaxAmps could produce much cheaper batteries if they moved that side of their operation off shore but I for one am glad they don't. I don't mind paying a bit extra to help keep an American in a job.
The thing is they're not using that good of cells. There have been tests, with brand new packs contrary to what you said earlier, that shows they're no better, and in some cases worse, than packs costing much less. What's worse is every time someone posts a test, Maxamps threatens legal action to get them to remove it, and also has any video on youtube of such test removed for copyright infringement. Edit: [link=http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139612]Here[/link] is an interesting read. Please note I'm not basing my opinions of Maxamps solely off this review, I've seen many and they're always the same. Maxamps performing on par with cheap chinese packs and losing to better packs, such as Thunderpower. This is just the only review I can still find due to Maxamps always getting them removed.

It's a well known fact that Maxamps extremely overrates their packs. Edit: And by the way I don't think you are a fool. I do however think that you're falling for Maxamps marketing gimmicks, and you have enough experience in this hobby that you should know better.

RE: Worst Hobby Grade Rc you've ever owned?
ORIGINAL: Maj_Overdrive Kyosho Raider. Could never get the set screws for the suspension pins tight enough without stripping them. Lots of other problems too, but hunting down those pins when they fell out was most annoying for me. I loved my Tmaxx 2.5, for the first 3 gallons anyway. After that I started pushing it harder and the couple basic upgrades weren't cutting it anymore. Yup gallons 4 and beyond got expensive with aluminum bulks, towers, rpm and well you know how Maxx trucks tend to spiral out of control.
Ohh I forgot that one. I had an Outlaw Raider, that was definately the worst one I've had.

The worst was a Cen MG16MT, thing fell apart during breakin. A close second was a Losi 1/16 Raminator, same thing as a Mini LST. The diffs on them are horrible.

Thought I'd bump this thread instead of making a new one. I'm having the same problem, I've been trying for days and it wont work. It's telling me it's not a jpeg even though it is. I've tried several images, several browsers, and it never works. I used to get this error once in a while and would just retry and it would eventually work. Not this time.

RE: Slash
Definitely the 1/10th. It's easy to drive and stable. It's also extremely durable. The 1/16th is hard for me to handle and I've been in the hobby for 20 years now. It's over powered stock (the VXL version) and rolls over very easily. It's a fun truck but I would imagine a kid would get frustrated easily with it.
