RE: JetCat P-60 Plug Failure
I closely inspected all 3 circuit boards in the ECU, and see no apparent burned spots. Same with the turbine circuit board. Nothing seems to be out of place or burned. I guess it needs to go to JetCat?

RE: JetCat P-60 Plug Failure
I also noticed that the propane valve makes a clicking sound as it puffs out increments of propane to the turbine. I think my other JetCats do this but I'm not sure. Anyway, I still don't understand how I can have voltage on the glowplug and no fire. Wouldn't that mean zero amps or zero watts?

RE: JetCat P-60 Plug Failure
Yes, I'm using an MC-9. And yes, I watched the plug element with the plug out and grounded. The computer sees the plug as good and does the startup sequence, but it doesn't glow. This is really interesting: I put a volt meter on it, and it shows 1.5 volts with everything shut down, and the volt meter moves up toward 2 volts during startup, but no glow. I again tested the plug on a 1.2 volt hotshot and it is still good and hot. This makes no sense to me.

JetCat P-60 Plug Failure
I burned 3 straight plugs on startup, then went in to test functions and reduced the voltage from 2.5 volts down to the default 2.1 volts. Now no glow at all. Have adjusted it back to 2.48 volts and no glow. I have checked plug on 1.2 volt hotshot and it glows fine. Ecu battery was topped off to 8.5 volts, and still no fire on startup. Now what?

P-60 starts spinning with on battery
I changed to a new Rx and aircraft, and I can't teach the ECU since the turbine spins and tries to start the second I turn on the Rx power to the aircraft. What did I do wrong?

JetCat says it is a bad EGT Senser, and that I can replace it myself, as long as I don't twist it during install.

RE: JetCat P-60 Problem
I installed both phone cables new from JetCat with no change. The Computer thinks the turbine is still at 123 degrees I think. The green blinks and the temp on the GSU blinks from (-E-) to 123. When I try to calibrate it says Error: Tempsens. Cable, amplifier. Now What?

I'm not sure what you meant regarding the flaps. So you are flying with elevons and no flaps? And the wing inside the stabs are inline with the motor mount? Looks like rudders, but I can't see the servos.

The GSU says the Temp is 123 degrees C. Does that mean I need to recalibrate the Temp probe?

Ok, Once I pushed the ignition button everything went back to normal except I now have the blinking green. At least it's off until I turn on the aircraft. It can't be too hot, it hasn't run for several days. You may be right about the data cable.

RE: JetCat P-60 Problem
Thanks for the reply. I can't read or use the GSU because it also is blinking off and on with the yellow & green lights. The strange thing is that the ECU seems to be getting power before the Rx switch is turned on. I peaked out both batteries with no change.

JetCat P-60 Problem
My JetCat P-60 started to blink yellow & green, but all batteries checked out. I then noticed that the power to the ECU was activated whenever the ECU system battery was connected. Even if the Rx switch was off, the ECU would still light up, and would blink yellow & green or just green. I can't get it to shut off unless I disconnect the turbine battery. Now what?

Great Planes made a prop jet F-4 about 10 years ago and about the same size. Their plans should help. Come to think of it, I might have a set of plans and/or a new kit. I will take a look.

The wood kits like the small A-10 and the F-15 are not too bad. But the large A-10 is terrible. He sold the bussiness once about 8 years ago to Ross Hobbies but they never did anything with it. Somehow he got the business back.

RE: Berkeleys Skyray - Old Kit
I built one of the Berkley DF kits back in 1964. I believe it was the F11 Tiger. It came with a little aluminum fan blade, and was designed for a pull-string start. It really didn't work out. I still have some of the magazine articles from that period showing other DF's that seem to work. One showed a stick & tissue F-100 or possibly a Draken and some others.
