RE: My pet peeve in scale
Tiny (non-scale) or cheap plastic wheels! I usually hear "No one cares when it's in the air". Well, unfortunately on the ground is when folks really get to check out a plane and those wheels end up ruining what might be a gorgeous plane otherwise.

RE: ZIROLI F9F PANTHER BUILD
Looks great! From your pictures above, it looks like your nose strut needs to be rotated 180 deg on the retract.

RE: PST JETS ??
I've got one in white primer with the PST tailpipe, Robart retracts, and Glennis wheels/brakes. I've taken it out of the box to check it out, but haven't started any work on it yet. I'm still waiting for the wheels to arrive from Glennis (paid for 2 months ago), but will probably end up putting it up for sale to fund some other higher priority projects. If anyone's looking for a complete Panther setup, just PM or email me!

RE: Group Custom Order on P-47s
What paint scheme can we expect? Bubble or Razorback? I'm assuming they would have the same level of detail as the P-40 ARF? How about the inner gear doors, pneumatic cylinders, etc? Thanks, Ron

RE: Anyone flying A10-X ??
I initially flew mine with no mix on the elevator. When I would deploy flaps, the plane would pitch down. Not too much, but enough to require some constant back pressure on the stick or some serious re-trimming for level flight/approach. I've set up my mix with just a bit of up elevator when I deploy flaps. It now has no pitch change at all and approaches are super smooth and easy.

RE: Johnny's F-15 @ Markham Park
In response to Shaun's question about the gear looking spread out, here are some shots of my new YA F-15 straight out of the box with brand new gear just installed. This spread out look is the way the gear was designed on the plane apparently since mine came from the factory this way! .

RE: Anyone flying A10-X ??
I've been using the standard throws above on mine with no problems. I like the elevator setup towards the high end of the scale with plenty of expo. The ailerons don't need the max throws as roll rate is excellent without too much expo. I have about 15% up elevator mixed in with flaps to compensate for the nose down pitch. If you get your CG set correctly, the plane will fly very docile at these throws and will takeoff and land quite slow.

RE: Anyone flying A10-X ??
More on the original questions from the first post-- >anyone? >need some extra info >CG >overall quality >setup,s radio,s etc > >how do they fly ? >fast ? or slow to land? The setup I use on mine includes a 6V servo/receiver system with (4) JR 811 servos on ailerons and elevators, (2) Hitec 475HB servos on flaps, (2) Hitec 125MG servos on rudders, a standard servo for nose steering, and a micro servo for the retract valve. This plane is not fast, nor is it heavy, and you could probably get away with flying it using all standard servos, although I wouldn't want to experiment on mine! I've had no issues with control and use the stock Skymaster linkages and carbon horns, but I have added heavy duty servo arms. Since converting to EDF power, I've eliminated the pneumatic brake system in the interest of weight. My control surface throws are pretty much the standard settings that have been suggested for the jet. I use a large amount of expo on the elevators as I have found them to be ultra sensitive, but the rest is pretty standard. It takes quite a bit of flap>elevator mixing to compensate for the change in pitch, but other than that I have nothing out of the ordinary. I use a JR R2000 synthesized SPCM receiver with a Revolution whip antenna mounted on the equipment tray extending into the canopy. It works great.

RE: Anyone flying A10-X ??
I agree with ravill's comments on the landing gear blocks. When mine departed the plane, they came out pretty much in one piece still attached to my retract (SA702 w/ crappy SA Robostrut knock-off). I inspected the blocks themselves and they were made from some extremely soft plywood that literally bent in my hands with very little force applied to them. I used them to create templates and cut new mounts from some higher quality plywood and they have performed great since reinstalled. I did no other reinforcement other than glueing them back in the same cradles with 30-minute epoxy. I now use Central Hobbies titanium wire struts on the SA702 retracts and have had no gear issues since. I think an MW44 Gold would be a GREAT combo for this plane with some super long flight times. My EDF setup puts out a bit over 10 lbs of thrust and I set my timer for 10 minute flights which I think would be a similar experience to what you would get with the MW44.

RE: Anyone flying A10-X ??
I've got one that I flew originally with a P-60 and a CG that was too far to the rear. That resulted in a less than perfect landing and the gear blocks being ripped out (as others have experienced). I repaired it with better quality wood and glue, recovered, and have converted it to twin 90mm EDF. I also adjusted the CG forward, and now it flies like it's on rails. It is absolutely rock solid stable with a fantastic roll rate. Approaches are simple and it slows down to a crawl for landing. Mine weighs 16 lbs with the EDF setup that puts out a bit over 10 lbs of thrust. This results in performance similar, but not quite even with the P-60 setup I had in it originally. It's not a speed demon by any means, but it flies so stable and predictable that it is a lot of fun. .

RE: JC Kero-Start Consensus (Please Advise!)
I've converted my P-60 to kero start and initially had to drop the pump start voltage by one notch to eliminate a slight flame at startup, but since then it has been absolutely flawless. Not a single failed start, and I have used it with ambient temps ranging from 50 to 95 degrees F. I love it and don't think I'll buy another Jetcat without it.

Haven't decided on my paint scheme yet. I wasn't happy with the light shade of the blue straight from the factory, so I'm planning on painting my own with the correct shade of blue. Now I just have to choose one of the seemingly unending choices! The big question will be Marines or Navy.

RE: Christmas in August
Mine arrived today. Here it is 15 minutes out of the box (wife was a little peaved since I didn't even make it to the workshop!) I decided to go with my own paintjob and have Glennis wheels & brakes with Robart gear for the Ziroli Panther. Mine's getting a P-70 for power. I'm glad to see the speed brakes and dive flaps are all separate molded pieces and don't have to be cut out or fabricated. I was also pleased with the quality of the internal construction. Mine had one of the tip tanks split in two, but there was no damage that little glue won't cure.

P60 Kero Start Battery Question
I've got a P-60 with kerosene start and I currently have the original 1250mah battery pack. Will the smaller pack still yield similar runtimes with the kero start setup as it would with the standard glowplug? I'm assuming the kerosene starter consumes more power than the glowplug would. My airframe will handle the larger 3300 mah pack if need be, but I'd like to avoid the extra weight if I can but not at the expense of my peace of mind!

RE: new Arf Boomerang 14lb thrust
If anyone's worried about P-60 fuel consumption and the lack of flight time it might cause, I highly recommend the Jet Tech kevlar tank for the Intro. I just got one last week and it holds 80oz and drops right in the plane. Provides a nice increase in flight time over the standard 50oz setup. They're just over $100, but well worth it in my opinion.

Best scale jet to operate safely out of 400 ft paved runway w/ P-60
Anyone got a good suggestion for a scale jet that will operate out of a 400ft runway with a P-60 for power? I'm looking at Tam's F-16 and the JL T-45 as possibilities. I've also got my eye on the JHH A-7, but I'm wondering if the P-60 will be too much to squeeze in the airframe w/ fuel. Any suggestions?
