How to drill prop holes for quadra 50 engine
I just got back into hobby after 25 years and I forget how I drilled my props for the quadra 50cc engine. I have some props all ready drilled. Picture attached. Is there a jig?

RE: Spektrum DX8 Warbird setup????!!!!!
sorry to be so negative yet again but I bought a MAXX universal servo extension and I was not impressed with the gripping force. It was a lot less than my Spektrum cables so I taped the servo lead into the extension connector.

RE: Spektrum DX8 Warbird setup????!!!!!
so what was wrong with the Y harness? solder? bad pin? I just got back into the hobby after 25 years out and I must say that I am not impressed with the servo connectors used today. I was more used to the gold connectors that Kraft Radio used than these cheap connectors used now. If you increase the number of connectors used you will increase the rish of something going wrong and I would say that the connectors are the weak point of the radio system for sure.

RE: DX8
"I think the DX8 offers more features, at a reasonable price, with very Intuitive Programming. ' I agree 100%. I have DX8 for about 2 months and it was my 1st computer radio. I just got back into hobby after 25 years out of it. I fly heli and planes. The DX8 is great. It allows you to customize the control to suit you and what you want to do with the heli or plane. Stay away from DX6i. It is ok but does not have features that the DX8 has. Find a special marked box and get an extra receiver fro FREE. I just found out today that the DX6i does have throttle hold for planes !!! only heli. That is just software and they could change that but unable to update software in the field on DX6i. DX8 can update software in the field. Watch out for DX7s, it does not have all features of DX8. i.e. FMODE switch is 2 position, not 3 like DX8. you get what you pay for. good luck.

RE: AR 6210 ?
It is just a different protocol that the Tx uses to talk/bind to the Rx. It is like french and english. It is better than DSM2 in that there is less chance that the binding between the Tx and the Rx can be lost when there are alot of Tx's turned on in the area. This is more important at international meets when there are hundreds of flyers trying to fly at the same time.

RE: dx 6-i
DX6i is just fine. It will allow you to setup and save 10 different models. With the DX5e you have to manually change everytime for each model. The DX6i will remember your different setups for up to 10 models. If one model needs a servo reversed, the DX6i will remember that but on the DX5e you must manually change that yourself. Good luck.

RE: dx 6-i
A bigger feature of a programable radio is you can program the sensitively of the controls by adding EXPO which makes the stick less sensitive around the zero position. You can also limit the max travel of a servo so it is less sensitive. Simply put, you can customize the controls to fit you and the type of flying you want to do at the time. You can also store these setting for next time you come to flying field. Different radios can store different numbers of profile settings. At the flick of a switch you can setup the plane for just gentle flying or for doing stunts. Same goes for helis. On electrics it is important for safety reason to program a throttle hold switch at 0% throttle so if you accidently hit the throttle stick nothing will happen. You get what you pay for. I have a DX8 and love it. With the current offer of 2 Rx with a DX8+telemetry module, how can you refuse. I could live with the DX6i if I had too. But it is only money...enjoy it. A DSM2 Tx will not operate a true DSMX only Rx but most likely the Rx is capable of DSM2 as well. Look up specs of Rx. So a DSM2 Tx can operate a Rx in DSM2 mode.

RE: Help out a newcomer
do not waste your money and time on a coaxial. They fly good but teach you bad habits. They do not fly like a real heli. 1) get DX6i Tx or JR of your choice if you have the money 2) buy pheonix flight sim basic. fly for a month at least 3) 1st heli Blade mcpx. It will be difficult but go slow. Fly in normal mode at first. 4) 2nd heli after 6 months of flying mcpx, Blade 450 enjoy

a couple of cases. 1- a large indent hole where the EPO foam was squashed. 2- a 1 inch wide piece taken out of leading edge of wing. Yes if I could have, I would have cut out bad spot and glued in a piece of the foam used to pack the airplane.

I have tried the insulation spray foam available at building supply stores but that is too airy. I need a denser foam to fix the EPO BNF. ideas?

RE: Is MSR affected by Spektrum recall
Yes the PID is on the list of affected DX6i's. They also list the Rxs that are related to the Tx recall. They do not mention the MSR Rx is affected etc. see what I am getting at. So all the small heli's are DSM2 I guess and therefore are a risk if using a Tx PID that is on the recall.. Am I correct? thanks.

RE: Spektrum DX8 Warbird setup????!!!!!
stay on topic. we were talking about a simple Y harness with no electronics. Just wire and connectors. we should not lead newcomers away from using a simple Y harness if that is all that is needed.

RE: Spektrum DX8 Warbird setup????!!!!!
ORIGINAL: Doug47
I avoid Y Harnesses like the plague.
Wow.I've been flying a long time too and have never, ever had a problem with a Y-Harness, including name brand ones and those with reversers. For instance, Futaba just for example has a y-harness with servo reverser in Towers monthly flyer.Anyone think they are going to release some piece of junk ?Actually I've never had a problem with any servo wire.extension unless it was damaged beforehand, as in my fault. There's nothing unique about y-harnesses that make them more prone to failure than any other wire in a set-up. The wire going from servos to the receiver is no more and no less susceptible to a failure than a y-harness. Maybe you've had some problems with undamaged, externally fine appearing y-harnesses. However, as far as having multiple failures I'd bet you're one in a very, very small number. Doug
I agree. Easier to use Y harness than another channel. I never used/knew about Y reverse harness but that would have electronics in it and is not just wire. I would advise to stay away from "universal" servo extensions because they do not have connector keying. Get the servo extension/harness that is made for your radio. I bought a "universal" extension and was not impressed with the pin gripping force on the connector. I will never buy them again. I had to tape the connectors together just so I could sleep at night. I have DX8 but would only use dual channels if I had to.

RE: Spektrum DX8 Warbird setup????!!!!!
ORIGINAL: harttvboy04 Hi all! I am the proud new owner of a Spektrum DX8. I essentially was able to upgrade for free, thanks to the generous gift of a student of mine combined with a 200 dollar sale of my dx7 with 2 rx's. I have a slight programming issue. The programming seems very easy and straight forward for the most part, but I cannot FOR THE LIFE OF ME figure out how to program the following. How do you set the radio up for 2 aileron servos, 1 ADJUSTABLE dual position flap servo and 1 retractable landing gear (electric retracts via a splitter)??? This is for my Hangar 9 Spitfire with Hobbyking Electric Retracts and Quanum Bomb Drop. This plane is 5 seasons old and has been my testbed for many engines, two 2 stokes, two 4 strokes and 1 gasser have flown this plane. Now it is electric, to make it last, and I just want it to work! I currently have the radio configured for gear on the gear switch, flaps on AUX2 and R aileron on ail and L aileron on AUX1. AUX3 and is is setup for my bomb drop and is unfortuanely the AUX3 knob...I am open to using the knob for the flaps if I can inhibit the 3 position part of the AUX2 switch for only 2 position for the bomb to drop cleanly.... It isn't the end of the world that this cannot be done, but I would like to know that it is possible. I am considering a Top Flight Mustang GS and if this poses a problem I will not even bother, or I might have a DX8 up for sale... Any input will help! Thanks! Chris
Man do not sell the DX8. "inhibit the 3 position part of the AUX2 switch for only 2 position for the bomb" just make position 0=0% and position1&2=100% bingo 2 position swirtch. position2=position3 Maybe the attached photo will help

RE: Programing crow
not the right solution. if it is a floater, then do not use flaps. Flaps are used to slow down during landing but maintaine lift. The motor is altitude and the elevator is speed. If you can land without flaps and slow it right down with elevator and not stall you are home free.

RE: Will the rtf transmitters bind to a normal dsm2 receiver
buy a good DSMX Tx and then buy the cheaper BNF versions of what you want to fly. Do not buy the RTF versions. You can also get cheaper version of flight sim(Phoenix) that uses the same Tx.
