RE: Heavy lift
There are a lot of R/C helis that can lift 5 lbs. I have done so with a number of 50 size nitro helis. Of course, what is traded off is maneuverability, the same as with any other flying machine.

RE: New to this. Need advice.
Absolutely no doubt about it, Ron and Nathan will steer you properly, even if it means telling you what you may not want to hear. but if you cannot move much from your $200.00 total budget, you may have to go somewhere else for something you would get that would be so basic.

RE: Do Not Buy From ... HelicopterWorld.com
I have done a lot of mail order purchases over the past 10 plus years and have always been well treated. They have even phoned me at times to let me know they were out of stock on items orderd, as they wanted to know if I wanted the other items sent seperately or not. What fuselages exactly? I did not even know they had 3 fuselages that could total $7000.00!!!???? I have done a number of them over the years myself. As they are mostly generic types for different sizes. It is up to the modeller to engineer the fit of their mechanics into them, and some mechanics took more "engineering" and modiications to get installed properly. But that is whjat scale modeling is all about. It is quite different then pod and boom building and flying. Due to this, I have on occasion ordered their complete scale kits that also included their own mechanics. These were designed as integrated units SO the mechanics fit into the fuselages rather easily. I hope they come on here nd tell their side of this story, as I have always found there is two sides to most stories like this.

RE: Gas Heli's & Scale Bodies Questions
I have seen two of thes.... http://www.centuryheli.com/products/fuselages/funkey/CN4010/index.html?currentid=431 ... at different events over the past two years that had the Century Predator Gasser mechanics installed. They both flew very well. One was detailed to the nines, and weighed about 16 lbs with a multi blade head, but still flew well. There are a number of threads about them in the Scale forum on R R.

RE: Hawk Pro 30 kit question
I bought my Hawk Pro from my local hobby shop when they were first offered a number of years ago. It now has over 550 3D flights on it and all has been very good with it. I have it configured with the same S-3151 servos offered in that package, but with the GY-401 gyro with its S9254 servo. note that you need 5 servos for a heli and that package only comes with 4, so you will have to buy another servo to go with your GY-240. Later when you progress into harder flying, you may want to go to the CN3049 hi-output muffler from Century. I found this muffler really gets a lot more power from the OS-37 and is a lot quieter then the muffler supplied in the kit. I have been flying these things for may years and have and have had many helis. I use the Hawk Pro to practice new stuff and IMHO it is the best 30 nitro out there. Of course the better the radio the more versatile relative to various set-ups that you can want. If you ever plan to go with a governor and a gyro like the 401 that allows sensitivity adjustments from the TX software, you will want a radio that has at least 7 channels and more powerful software inside. e.g. like the Futaba 7C or 10C. So if you have the budget for it now, go with one of these. But the 6EXH and a GY240 coupled with a fast digital servo will take you well into some pretty demanding flight maneuvers.

That does not look like the control system from the Champion. Nor does the head. I think it was the one that followed - the Schluter Magic.

It is notb the prioce of the engines in your examples that result in the high price, it is the price of the Hatori mufflers they have packaged them with.

If your heli uses 2.2mm conrol rods, you might want to try the ones from Century. Those on my Swifts are great.

RE: Whos the best online vendor for RC Heli
We will be able to give you better advice if you would give us a budget and/or size of electric you are looking for. A lot of us here fly the Century Swift 16 electric helis. For their size (uses 520mm to 550mm blades) they cost about the same to get in the air as some of the much smaller hlis that use 325mm blades.

RE: x cell 60 with century huey fuselage???
The ones I have seen used a special type of speedo cable - I believe Century carry them and Starwood Models carry one that is even more heavy duty.

RE: x cell 60 with century huey fuselage???
Unless they have changed it, i am sure it will work. Years ago I had a club mate that had that exact combination. If memory serves me correctly, he told me that the X-Cell was the mechanics used in making the Century Huey.

RE: Getting back into the hobby..what would you suggest
+1 to the new NX-50. I liked my Rappy 50. But a few years ago I replaced it with the Raven 50 and now the new NX-50. You can't go wrong with either but I prefer the simplicity of the two stage drive system on the Raven & NX-50, the NX-50's control system, rotor head & tail rotor. And I also really like their new look canopy.

RE: Century Bell 222 50
I have built both the 30 version (with their 30 size mechanics) and their 50 with one of their Falcon 50's. These mechanics dropped right in and fly very well. The fiberglass work is excellant as good as the expensive BVM jets or Vario helis. If you get the painted version, you will find the painting to be top notch. The 50 version has more detailing then the tirty, but both have a lot more detailing then I expected. The most complex part is installing the retracts - took me one evening on both (used a small servo for the fromnt and one normal size for the two rear retracts.

RE: Choosing a muffler..
The new 50 muffler you have should work better on your 46 then the restrictive 30 size muffler that comes with the kit. But you will definitely have to re-tune both needles. I would expect more so on the hover/idle screw. That would also mean a change in the throttle curve settings. Are you using the stock 30 gear ratio? You may want to seriously consider changing the gearing to that of their 50 size Raven (using the 14T primary gear pinion instead of the stock 30 size 13T pinion. I haven't ran an OS46 in a number of years, but I know they ran better on a 9/1 ratio then on the stock 30 ratio of 9.76/1.

Probably the reason that you are getting few answers to your questions is because they are about an "Eagle 50" that you bought somewhere on line, and nobody here has one so they are not familiar with it. Where did you buy it, maybe they can help you. Did you do much research before plunking down your money to purchase it?

Yep, I agree with rotordoc - fly it and learn all you can from it, then go for the new NX50. The smoothest and most precise flying 50 I have ever flown.

RE: century swift 3d rtf
I changed out a friends RTF to a Futaba 6EX/2.4 with no problem...servos and receiver. It flew a lot better. Just initially changing out the servos with the supplied radio made a big difference. I found the heli, motor, esc to be very good, even the basic HH gyro it comes with is pretty decent. But like most RTF's I have ever seen, the servos are the weakest link in the whole system.

RE: Wren MW44 Turbine into 44 Magnum.
I have always been interested in turbines, but I want them to be more maneuverable then the current lot that I have seen. I have a Century Predator Gas heli, that really has turned out to be a great 3D gasser. I had heard they had been demonstrating some Wren Turbine versions of them at different shows in Europe for a number of years. So I checked on youtube, and found a number of pretty impressive smooth 3D flight videos by a fellow named Ian Contessa from the UK. I understand there has been the complete conversion kit over there that Ian uses in his now for a good number of years. Here is one of his videos from 2007 (check out the flying from about the 2:45 minute mark): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyeesRdfxCY I understand he pushes it harder now. I understand there has been the complete conversion kit available over there fro the Predator Gas heli which is what Ian has been using in his now for a good number of years. I certainly think it would be worth getting similar type of turbine helis here. The USA seem to be lagging by a number of years in that area.

RE: Phoenix w/ Swift Elite 6?
I am not familiar with the Phoenix sim, but most of the ones I have will not recognize any transmitter unless the TX is set in the PWM (FM) mode...they will not work with the TX set in the 2.4 mode or the PPM mode.

RE: Swift 16 motor/electronics recommendations
I have many flights on my Swift 16 using various different pinions on the Century 600+ motor, their 55A ESC and various 4S, 5S and 6S packs. I found the Century Swift with their relatively inexpensive power system to be a great combination. It has well over 300 flights now. Its last 200 or so has been with a hot 6S set up for a high head speed for some pretty extreme 3D. It is a very versatile heli and power package that is easily set-up for any type of flying, for low rotor speed training and scale flying to high head speed 3D pop...or anthing in between. I am not familiar with the 2100 gyro but I have heard good things about it. I have used a number of gyros on mine. Currently it is using the Futaba 401 with its designated servo. All worked well enough for training and as well as for forward flihght and even softer 3D, but not as well for the hotter 3D as the 401 does.
