RE: TOWER HOBBIES SUCKS
Tower is #1 is my book. I had one issue with a great planes gee bee. The plane came cracked. I called them they said we will give you another one, just use the return shipping slip we gave you and take it to the nearest UPS. So technically all I was out of was time and the little gas I spent to go to UPS. Tower has good Customer Service.
ORIGINAL: n8622t @Rowdog 14....I watched your flight video of the GeeBee, first I would like to say that you did a great job of getting it on the ground and secondly...you are a wild man to fly that plane in that tree infested field[;)] Obviously not a problem for you since its your field but a visitor flying a GeeBee might just be handing you the sticks to fly it for him. Great Job Rowdog 14 and what prop did you run on your DLE170? My DA170 has some time on it and it rips a 30X12 like nobodies business...just curious[:)]...I couldnt wait for the DA250 four stroke, DA said January and that means March or later.[:o] Jimmy
N8622t! I wish I had the comp arf gee bee. I was flying the Great Planes Gee Bee which is a 120 glow size about 3 or 4x smaller than you guys. Thanks for looking at my video though. My wife said I can never get this plane :) so I might not be getting the Comparf gee bee any time soon. I am trying to pay off all our bills and her car and she will probably change her mind. By then comp arf will probably stop making this plane. Oh the Great Planes Gee Bee is still a challenge to land!!!!!!

RE: electronic throttle
My dodge ram Throttle body is Drive by wire. It has a small gear box on the drives side that opens and closes the throttle body blade based off what signal the computer sends from the drivers pedal. I think it would work but probably to pricey to even consider if they did come up with it. This is just my input.

Yeah I saw those but it will not accomplish what I want. I just got from homedepot and purchased some rope, a screw eyebolt, and spring link. With those items I am going to just do the same setup as the first picture. I wanted something like the second picture but could not find anything wide enough for the Gee Bee and I did not want to do PVC pipe.

Ceiling hanging storage plane fully assembled options Admin Please Delete
I am looking to hang my Great Planes Gee Bee up on the ceiling. I have a few options that I am thinking about but I am not sure at this point. I do know that I do not want a bike lift so that is out of the question. The reason I do not want a bike lift is because I do not plan on flying this plane anymore so accessibility is not important. I was thinking about a hook (kind of like a strong flower pot hook) and just get some rope and wrap around the wings or get an actual RC plane hook that slides under the wings( this is what I prefer), but the only down side is that the Gee Bee is Fat and all of the RC plane hooks are for smaller smaller fuselages. Give me some pictures and ideas, thanks Guys.

RE: 72 mhz still ok?
ORIGINAL: pilotpete2 Well gas is pretty clean, but quieting them down does take some extra expense. We have a couple of 30cc class gassers that really aren't much noisier than a high performance electric of the same size and weight, prop noise, is prop noise, not to mention a larger EDF[8D], which is as close to a jet as I'll ever fly, something to do with the fixed income[:)] While there's no wait for a pin on the 72Mhz board, we do have interference problems, being that our field, while on a large farm in a very rural town in Vermont, is smack up against a large town across the river in NH, where we've had issues with kids flying foamies at the school across the river within earshot of the field. ''Pete's Law'' states that the odds of being hit by this type of interference is directly proportional to the size and price of the plane[>:]. In other words, a foamie on 72Mhz, no problem, on the other hand, a 1/3rd scale WWI bipe with beaucoup building hours and cost is a sitting duck[:o] it's all fun. Pete
I have never used one of these but have you tried one? [link]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJUP2&P=7[/link] Since I moved to GA there are a lot of rouge fields that people fly at and I might invest in this gadget.

I know you are not knocking me but when I go to the field I enjoy what people have and do not give my advice about radios, engines or anything of that matter unless someone ask. The reason I do not do that is because this is a hobby and like BIGNASDY said, to each is own. I usually only buy 2-3 gallon a year so it is not that bad.

RE: 72 mhz still ok?
What is funny a few months ago I went to the field the fly my Hangar 9 p-47 150 because one of my coworkers wanted to see it. So I start my plane, do a range check and walk up to the flight line after I place my plane on the ground and pull my antenna out. He says what kind of radio is that. I said a 72, he then says WOW why do you not have 2.4. I did not want to get in a unneeded debate and just left the subject as it start and started talking about my plane :) He even asked why I carry that large flight box.... :) I said I fly glow and left it at that. It is funny how people want you to cross over to all electric, gas, or new radio technology. I love my old radio, I love my glow and I love everything that comes with it even cleaning the plane after a long day or short day of flying :)

RE: 72 mhz still ok?
Why did you bring this up :) I fly 72 and have never had a problem. Check the board, ask around, do a range check and you will never have a problem. I fly with a JR7202XP scanselect with scanselect RX. I love it so much I went out and purchased a 2nd because of how solid 72 is. I will probably never go to 2.4 unless I have to and they stop making or repairing 72 products. I see nothing wrong with 2.4 I just do not see a need in it for me.

RE: GP GEE BEE
I have seen theworldmodels gs p-51 fly with the 2300. It weights the same as the hangar 9 p-51 so the 2300 should fly it very well. Also I have seen a top flight staggering fly in nashville tn with a 2300 and it weighed about 18 lbs and it flew but bairly. Yeah the 35 will fly it just fine but the 2300 will fly it well. Thanks for the concern though.

I could take the OS120fs out and put it in the Seagull Gee Bee Z. I had a Supertigre 2300 waiting for it but I might put that in a larger plane like a P-51 150

RE: GP GEE BEE
Well I am probably going to retire the Gee Bee. I have not flown it in over a year and the fields here in Georgia are to small to fly it with comfort. The only fields that would be worth me flying it at are too far away to go to every weekend or once a month. My wife wants me to just hang this one up. I kinda agree with her. I have flown it many times, it is still in one piece, and I have video that it does fly and land. I have a OS 120 in it now and currently do not know what plane I am going buy to put it in.

I love wood flight boxes. It does get heavy after you add a gallon of fuel and the big battery for the panel, other than that I have everything I need in that flight box to do any repairs at the field and not have to go home. I will post a picture of mine when I get home.
